Couple More Patio Items and Day Trip

I knew the current outdoor rugs I have would not play nicely with the new patio furniture.  I've been keeping my eyes open for any on sale.  I lucked out and found this one...it goes really well with the wicker and rust colour cushions on the furniture....

I was browsing around the other day and found these great wicker tables on clearance...exactly what I was envisioning.....and did I mention they were on clearance?  I ordered two...and with that...the patio collection is complete.

I motored to the mainland yesterday...the first stop upon arrival was Bath and Body Works....I could spend hours there!    This is just some of my haul...I picked up about six bottles of men's body wash and spray for Mr. Seventies not included in the photo.  We both have enough lotions and potions to do us for some time..

Then we hit up my favourite store....Pier 1...and they did not disappoint...this runner is beautiful...and would look awesome on a bureau or dresser.  At $49.99...I admired it..and walked away.

I love this beautiful chair and cushion...perfect for spring.  Cushions were on sale...buy one and get the second 50%m off...

I saw this gorgeous chair and thought how perfect it would be for my make up vanity!!  Had I discovered it when I was looking...I would have purchased it.  But I have a comfy stool that works fine...but this was almost too good to pass up...

I love this sign....which was on clearance.  Truer words were never printed!!  "Happiness begins with a wet nose and ends with a wagging tail".   Agree 1000%.....

And as usual...found some gorgeous canvas paintings....next to bunnies...I love birds!!

I am attracted to paintings which are done using a painters knife....which gives a 3D effect to the painting...*swoon*.....

And you just know I'm crushing on anything bunny...I mean...how adorable are they? (must be the kid in me)...

Kissably cute or what?

I'm calling this a little dachshund....sure looks like one to me!

And give me a barn painting any time...I am so drawn to them.  Maybe I was a farm gal in a previous life?

Another sweet cushion!  Would you believe I didn't purchase anything?  It was just fun to browse and check everything out!  Mr. Seventies is already calling our rooms "Pillow Land"...it's getting harder and harder to convince him..."just one more"....

My BFF did purchase a few items...a pretty tablecloth and of course, creams and lotions from Bath and Body Works.  And a cute pair of striped capris for summer.

I ordered this set online...and it is ready for pick up today...nice to wear on hot summer days!

The weather was beautiful yesterday...the sun was out and it was actually too warm for our winter jackets.  We enjoyed a delicious lunch at one of our favourite haunts...and when we both tired...we decided it was time to head home.

Another successful jaunt to the mainland!!

Birthday Weekend Celebration

Can you believe we are heading into the last week of March?  Soon we'll have April showers to bring May flowers!

It was a very enjoyable weekend...we celebrated my birthday on Saturday with my family!  I am truly blessed as they spoiled me immensely.  We had not one....but two birthday cakes!!  The first one is awesome...since we are fans of a local NBL basketball team...it is fitting that we shared a basketball themed cake!  A basketball landing in a hoop...and it tastes just as good as it looks!!

The second cake is a true representative of my love of the dachshund breed! Is this not the cutest thing every?  And the cupcakes were so rich and chocolatey....and almost two cute to eat!

Pizza and garlic fingers had been ordered...then everyone dove into cake!  As usual, they spoiled me with gifts...Mr Seventies gifted me a wireless printer!   My current printer is not wireless...nor compatible with my laptop.  I received additional cartridges, headset and gift cards to one of my favourite stores. And a gift bag with containers of body butter shower gel and hand cream.

My grand daughters thoroughly enjoyed their Easter bucket of goodies!  They were very excited to show the cute dachshund cupcakes!

I truly didn't mind turning a year older...spending it with my family is worth it!

One day last week, my BFF and I hit up a couple of second hand stores.  I purchased this little guy....a holder for my pot scrubber!  Remember when these were all the rage?  What goes around...comes around again!

Then we stopped by our Home Sense store....loved this jar...but my friend claimed it reminded her of a cremation urn!   Moving right along.......

I shared in recent posts the wicker furniture purchased for the outside deck...and since then...I have been watching for tables that would be suitable for outside use...durable...and enough weight not to blow around....these ones might have fit the bill...except they were crazy expensive (more than I wanted to spend) and kinda ugly...

These metal ones would be perfect except they are not weighty enough....first good breeze and they would be airborne! They were super inexpensive and came in a variety of heights...

And colour choices...however just not sturdy enough for outdoor living....

Spotted this pretty canvas painting....my friend snatched it up for her main bathroom....

A couple of really pretty dessert plates...I have a couple of these...once belonged to my Mom....

And with that, we ended our afternoon outing with a stop at the coffee shop.  We are looking forward to another trip to the mainland this week...and will stop in at our favourite shops!

Have a great day!

Gonna Party....Cause It's My Birthday!!

Today is my birthday!!!

I am excited my girls, their significant others and two of my grand babies will be on hand this weekend to celebrate my birthday!!

Mr. Seventies presented me this morning with a beautiful bouquet of white roses and a bag of sugar free chocolates!  He's a keeper...

It's a gorgeous day here today!  The sun is out..and it's starting to feel like spring just might be on her way!!

I'm going to relax and enjoy my day!!

A Few New Wardrobe Pieces

With it feeling more "spring" like the last few days, I've been going through my summer clothes...putting them in two piles.  One pile is for clothes I mostly wear...and second pile for items I no longer wear and can be donated.

So, with that purge...I chose a few new things for summer!  First is a cotton/linen jacket..which can be worn as a jacket or a top.  Generous in size and this colour Coffee Red is what I chose.  I will wear it as an early spring or fall jacket.

I'll probably just live in this...very snuggly for cool nights!  Crushing big time on the pockets!

And thinking along the lines of warm and snuggly....its a good time to pick up flannel sleep wear on sale!  I have this night shirt in red...so when it came on sale I chose a blue one!

Although I am not a pyjama wearer...I do like having sets to wear in the evenings...and these were too good a sale price to pass up!

With having a pool, I can never have enough bathing suits..and this floral tankini set will get lots of wear this summer!

A couple of cute tops to wear with capris or shorts....this one will be great on really hot days!

This cute top is peplum...which is a perfect choice for curvy gals like me!!  I love the heart shape cut out on the back.

I'm a huge fan of light weight denim capris...

I mentioned in an earlier post we plan to visit my nephew and his wife later in the spring.  They are pawrents to a couple of adorable French bulldogs.

I ordered this pretty soft pink bulldog scarf for my nephew's wife...I hope she likes it!  It arrived yesterday and it's even prettier in person!

And for my nephew, who is a coffee drinker...a great bulldog mug for his office!  It has arrived as well..and is a sturdy, good size mug!

And lastly, my friend came across this autumn cushion cover...it was marked down for clearance (Pottery Barn)...so I snatched it up.  It's a good size 16 x 24...will tuck it away for fall!

And an update to the pellet shortage...Home Depot got a large shipment in...Mr. Seventies picked up a load over the weekend..I would miss the wood heat terribly if we had not been able to find any. n We were down to our last two bags!  We have an order coming with a local company as well...so we will have an abundance to get us through.

This is my birthday week!  Looking forward to my celebration this up coming weekend...my girls, their significant others and two grand daughters will be here !  Love getting my family together!

Hope you have an awesome day!!

Odds and Ends

It's officially Friday...and another day of sun and warmer temps in the forecast.  We've lived here long enough to know winter isn't done with us yet.  But this has been an awesome reprieve from the cold!

Sure glad I gassed up the vehicle yesterday.....prices rose 6 cents/litre overnight!  Gas prices are regulated here...the first and fifteenth of each month the prices change.  Sometimes for the good....sometimes not so good.

And the great pellet shortage of 2019 is in full swing!  Not a bag of pellets to be found in the city!  The last time we had a shortage was 2015...we had so much snow that year...getting in the woods for wood products was impossible.  That is not the case this year however....a couple of places have informed the pellet plant in Quebec sustained a fire...which I presume has shut them down.  That puts the pressure on other suppliers to keep up with demand...which is proving hard to do I guess....as there are no pellets available here!  The big box stores that carry them advise they have none in stock...but they are on order..with no idea if they will be delivered in the foreseeable future!    And when they do come in...they are sold out the same day...if you are lucky enough to be there at the right time.

There is a supplier that delivers bags of pellets free of charge...we placed an order with him...as he expects a shipment next week...but does not know the day.  At least we are assured to get them when they do come in!   We have enough bags to do us 10-12 days...with outside temps warming up.

In the meantime, I decided to pop into Home Sense and pick up the kettle I mentioned in a previous post.  I liked the green colour available...but the white enamel goes with my enamel bread box....

I absolutely love it!  It's super easy to pour and heats water quickly!

Since the warmer days are a sign of winter winding down...I ordered a couple of things to take with me when we visit my nephew in Ottawa later in the spring...I can't tell you how much I luv, luv, luv this comfy top!  It is so "me".  If is is half as awesome as I think it is...I'll order another in a different colour!  Great top for schlepping around in!

I like the wider legs on these jeans...and the decorative buttons on the sides.  With a birthday coupon the store sent me...and free shipping...it was hard to pass them up.

And lastly, I don't know how much longer I can stand a dirty vehicle!  Our SUV needs to be detailed inside and out...but we'll have messy weather yet.  I used to drop it off for cleaning at a local car wash...but now that Mr. Seventies is retired...he prefers to do it.  He does an excellent job as well...and it's hard to justify doing it right now...with it being mud and pot hole season!

I'm going to run it though an automated car wash..as least get the first layer of winter off!  Have a great weekend!

Let's Go Window Shopping

I had a chance to be out and about over the weekend...it almost feels like spring here...but I won't be fooled into a false sense of security.  It has been very sunny and mild....and rain forecasted for the weekend...that should rid us of what snow we have.

As I was heading out...I noticed this ice formation on the tree at the corner of the house...thought it was cool...the tree is a Japanese Yew I believe.  We did not plant it...but had we not moved the front walkway out a few feet...you would walk right into it!  People forget when they plant a seedling or shrub...it's going to grow!!  This tree was barely knee high when we moved in....

So, a few things to get to....how crazy gorgeous is this lamp?  And huge...it weighs a ton or close to it!

And bunnies springing up everywhere!

These were on a shelf...but they can be hung....

Would look awesome on a feature wall!  My daughter has a beautiful feature wall in her home...
as you walk up the steps to the main level...and it looks beautiful....

I'm crushing on this piece big time!  I think it would be a perfect fit in my bathroom...beside the tub...a spot for a towel...maybe a candle.  There were two of them...so I didn't purchase it...but I think today might be the day it comes home with me.  The fixtures in the bath are chrome...and this is more of a gold...but I think it would fit in nicely.

I mentioned my basket obsession a few posts back...how amazing is this basket with a lid?  Perfect for storage at the end of a bed...or even a coffee table!  Notice the wheels too on the bottom....luv it!!

Adorable dish towels...

How about these paintings....the windows have a 3D effect!  This is my favourite...luvin the little birds on the branches...

And it comes in white...very spring like!

One thing I have been keeping an eye out for is a new kettle!  Couldn't really find one that I liked...until I saw this photo on a FB page I follow...and they are available at Home Sense!

Can you guess where I'm heading today?   My favourite is the green enamel kettle...but white would work just as well.
