Thrift Shopping

I finally was able to drop into one of the thrift stores here....I'm hoping to visit a different one this week..although it's looking like another busy one ......

I picked up this cute painted wooden tray....to set on the kitchen table....it matches a table runner & even the kitchen valances....and under $5!

There were a number of pretty vases & pitchers.....I'm obsessed with these pottery pieces.....this one has a rough exterior texture....

This pottery pitcher was not tall....but absolutely beautiful.....

A pretty little vase for summer bouquets...

There seems to be an abundance of these pitchers available....I usually see one or two with every visit....I currently have 3 or 4 in various colours....

This pretty glass dish would be perfect on a bathroom vanity holding decorative soaps....I happen to mention that to another shopper....and she quickly put it in her cart!  She thought my idea was brilliant.  What can I say?

A great dog bowl....but too big for Liesel...I could have used it for a water dish....but really don't need an additional one.   These are very expensive in the pet stores here....

I could see this piece being part of a kitchen table scape....it would be awesome to decorate a Hallowe'en themed table. There's a reason why I wouldn't have it in my home though.....bonus points if anyone knows why....

My cabinet is too full to hold more pieces....this cute little canister could be used to store anything....

A good price on this barn star....they are still popular here....I see them hung inside and outside of homes...

This large decoupaged wall hanging was waaaay over priced!

The only thing I purchased was the wooden tray....I'm not alone in noticing the high prices being charged in the thrift shops!  This particular one is a "for profit" shop....the other one I frequent is not & mainly run by volunteers.....

We woke up to a little dusting of snow....the temperatures are cooling down.  We had two days of high north winds & it has been very chilly!  Warm jackets, hat & mitts kind of chilly!

A friend and I hope to spend an afternoon in Summerside.....get a start on some Christmas shopping...& attend this shopping event.  The craft sales are gearing up....there's quite a few next weekend!

We decorated Hallowe'en cookies & built the chocolate bar haunted house with grand daughter yesterday afternoon & despite the chilly weather spent a bit of time at a local park nearby!  She had a great time....enjoyed home made pizza & her mother reported she was tucked into bed & asleep in less than three minutes!!  So were her grandparents!!

Be sure and join me later today at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

And tomorrow over at https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday and with Joanne at  https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday!

I hope you take a bit of your time & enjoy catching up with some amazing bloggers!  As always, thank you so much for spending time with me!

Til next time.....

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

And a little bit of a health update.  I recently had an EKG & appointment with my heart doctor at our hospital...and the results were not what I was expecting....

I assumed everything would be fine & be advised I was recovering.  That was not the case...it's taken me a bit of time to process everything.  The EKG results were "not great".....in processing this information I didn't ask for further clarification...I hope to in the future.  My heart is not healing as hoped...I'm a mystery to the cardiologists apparently.  They cannot determine what type of heart attack I had - I wasn't aware there was more than the usual type...where a blockage(s) is found limiting blood flow to the heart...thus causing a heart attack & damage to the heart.  I've had two coronary stents for a number of years....

Since a clot buster was administered in trauma....did it flush out a blockage?  Maybe.   They've determined I did not have a Takotsubo cardiomyopathy as originally suspected (brought on usually by a stressful event).   I did not fit the criteria for that type of heart attack....although my heart was under a great deal of stress...

In December I'll undergo CT scan where an IV with dye is administered & the heart is scanned to hopefully diagnose what the problem is...

Fun times.  In the meantime...I begin the cardiac rehabilitation program next week....two hour classes twice weekly for twelve weeks.  Part of the program involves exercise on various equipment, walking, guest speakers (such as pharmacists, physiotherapists, dieticians).   My initial assessment was done last week....along with bloodwork & visits to Public Health nursing for vaccinations....

I'm feeling fine....tire quickly though & a friend commented I must be "so scared".  I may be foolish not to be....but I've never let fear dictate how I live.  It serves no purpose & offers little help.

On a quick note...I want to mention....none of the typical heart attack symptoms presented themselves to me...yet it happened.  Sitting quietly entertaining friends....when it came on....such an immense pain in the centre of my chest....so intense morphine, demerol or dilaudid didn't decrease the pain....perhaps the three sprays of nitroglycerin administered the ambulance might have helped a bit....

I thank my devoted husband for not allowing me to go to bed (which was my plan)....after checking my blood pressure and heart rate...he immediately called 911....

And I've live to meet another day!  That is where I am currently at...looking forward to the upcoming holidays.  Two months from today-is Christmas Day!!  Speaking of Christmas....we spent a few hours going thought our Christmas decor....and this is heading to daughter's home....I know grand daughter will immediately claim the gingerbread.....

We plan to have grand daughter for an afternoon of decorating a few cookies...(unlike her other grandmother....I no longer bake).....but icing a few cookies should be fun....

And a Halowe'en Kit Kat house?  This is going to be fun to assemble....I'm not certain the smarties included will make it into the decor...but that's ok...they are tempting!  And that pretty sweater underneath?  Only $18 at Wal Mart!  We plan to bake a home made pizza for supper....her Mom & Dad will join us....

I've purchased an abundance of warm sweaters for fall & winter....being anemic...I am cold 99.9% of the time!  Reynaud's Syndrome causes my fingers & toes to turn white & go numb when I'm cold or anxious.  It is so annoying....and painful.  I'm hoping these magnetic rechargeable hand warmers from Amazon will keep my hands warm....I'll try anything....

It is very, very windy here today!  They are forecasting rain/snow mix the middle of next week.  Ugh. We still have an abundance of leaves on the trees yet....

Thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me!  Wishing you an awesome weekend!

Til next time.....

Catching Up

It's good to be back!  I'm feeling better...last week was a complete write off!  A bit to catch up on the past few days...

Mr. Seventies & I had a photo shoot in celebration of our upcoming wedding anniversary....the day couldn't have been more beautiful....the sun was out in full force & since it was an outdoor shoot....the colours were breathtaking!  I'm hoping to receive a few "sneak peek" photos in the upcoming days....and will share...

And speaking of beautiful colours....we took Liesel & went back to our favourite trail...the colours did not disappoint...and not a cloud in the sky...

Liesel loves hitting the trail...running through the leaves...and with the amazing weather we've been having.....we enjoy being out with her....(and happy her tummy is feeling so much better)....

Mr. Seventies carved his signature dachshund pumpkin....it was just getting dark enough to set a candle inside...

Seven years ago this day daughter & son-in-law were married!  The weather was amazing that day as well....although a bit cooler & breezy....sending them loads of love & best wishes.  We couldn't be more proud & blessed they have given us a precious grand child to cherish...

I'm very happy with the jacket I picked up while shopping in Nova Scotia last weekend...it's roomy enough I'll be able to wear a sweater underneath....the colour is so pretty...

My sweet sister-in-law had commented she was certain I must have lost close to sixty pounds!  Since I haven't weight myself since being in the hospital the end of June....I hopped on the scales the other day...and she is right!  Two pounds away from sixty....58 pounds so far!  Yay me!

I stumbled across these wide leg jeans (Halara) and quickly ordered a pair....they look so comfortable...even though I'm not a huge fan of wide legs....I think they will be awesome!  I usually buy American Eagle or Silver brand jeans...looking forward to receiving these....(and they are pull on!!!)....

I have an round of appointments this week...my doctor referred me to a cardiac rehab program which starts this week...I do hope to do a bit of thrifting while out & about as well!  Christmas has hit the stores...rumour has it our Home Sense has re-arranged their aisles and various sections.  Will have to check them out!!

Be sure and join me today at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

On The Road Today!

We are driving home today after an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend!

My sister-in-law and I shopped a bit…(I only picked up a few things)….. ate way too much,  spent time hanging out, went to a lovely church service & enjoyed pizzas with our nephew & family.

A beautifully blessed Thanksgiving with much to be thankful for!

Raining hard as we make our way home!

Will catch up in a day or two!  Til next time…

Hitting The Trail & Happy Thanksgiving!!

Since we've been having gorgeous fall weather....we loaded Liesel in the SUV & headed out to walk one of our favourite trails!  The trails (called the Confederation Trail) run from tip to tip on the Island....and were at one time tracks for the railway!  The trains, many years ago...were an important mode of transportation for Islanders....coming here as a child, on vacation with my family....I remember when the trains were here.

As roads were built & more & more vehicles became a staple....the railway system was phased out.  Thus the Confederation Trail was birthed!  Used daily for walkers, bicyclists, and in the winter there is a very responsible snowmobile club that maintains & uses the trails for outdoor activities & fun!

We enjoy the beautiful fall colours on the trails, as the leaves turn...however we were a bit early to enjoy them this year....they have just begun to turn....

These photos were taken last year....but later in October!  Took my breath away when I saw them...stunning right??

We enjoy walking on the various sections of the trail....and no prettier time than fall to do so!  The weather is turning a bit cooler...the next couple of weeks the trees will share their magnificent colours...

There are rest stops and picnic areas along the trails....we stopped here to allow Liesel to have a cold drink...she loves running on the trail...

A bit of a health update...after having an ECG the other day & an appointment afterwards with my heart doctor...my heart is still "not doing great".  The ECG results were better than the previous one done in July...but still "not great".   I will be undergoing a test where they inject dye (via arm) and scan the heart to determine what is going on!  The doctor stated, "you are a mystery....so thanks for that".   Well....I do try.

A dear friend commented "you must be so scared".    I don't  live my life in fear...but choose to live each day & not dwell on the "what ifs".   That serves no purpose....there are just some things we cannot control....

Moving forward.  I dropped into Inspired Living & picked up a life like cedar garland (for the mantle)....however the 6 ft length I purchased is too short!  I plan to do an exchange today for a longer piece....and be warned...they are getting fully stocked with awesome Christmas decor!  Oh my!

October is my favourite month!  As Mr. Seventies & I celebrate our upcoming 41st wedding anniversary, we have an outdoor photo session booked with a sweet photographer...

We celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend & spending it with extended family in Nova Scotia...I hope you have a wonderful one as well!

Til next time.....

Little Bit Of Christmas

Christmas goodies are showing up in the stores here!  I'm not unhappy about it...I thoroughly enjoy browsing through it!

I popped into Inspired Living for an afternoon peruse....they are just getting started with setting out decor for the holidays....

This fireplace is decorated beautifully....and the stockings were only $10 each...a shipment of cedar garlands has arrived....I'm considering getting one for our brick mantle...they sell out so quickly!

These ceramic trees are so popular again this year...especially since they are battery operated...

And much to my delight....they've begun getting in feather cushions!!  So much nicer than fibre-filled ones...in my opinion...

I shared my happiness with the owner of the store...and apparently I am not alone in my preferred choice...others have commented on them as well...

While on the subject of cushions....I came across these beauties at Winners...perfect colour combination for the family room!  I may have to re-visit & bring them home if they are still available....

Also at Winners...these sets of hanging bells!  They are everywhere again this year...I got mine at Inspired Living weeks ago....and I absolutely love them.  Mine were sold separately....I picked up rope to be able to tie them together....hopefully on one end of the mantle....

Some adorable pieces on this corner shelf...and the canvas is so pretty...

How adorable is this little guy?  Pretty cute...

I'm certain there is much more decor items on display since my visit to Inspired Living....I hope to venture back this week...and pick up a cedar garland while I'm there....

I did pick up a couple of items....I'll share at a later date since I haven't put them out yet....will do after all the Halloween decor is put away.  I've admired these on my last two visits...so brought them home along with an oval wooden tray....

I want to share our stunning burning bush in all it's glory!  And the best part (beside it's awesomeness)...is that beautiful, brooding sky!  I love this time of year!

These were almost alive with bees!  I've never seen so many bees doing their work so diligently...and left them to it...

We are coming up on Thanksgiving weekend & plan to spent it with family in Nova Scotia!  I'm hoping the weather will be nice...the fall colours will be peaking this week....

Join me later today at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday and tomorrow over at https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday and https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday.
