Spooktacular Finds!!

Finally, the stores have been able to acquire stock for fall & Hallowe'en!  (and maybe the odd Christmas decor snuck in there).  And I'm loving it!!  I saw so much....pour a cup of coffee or tea, get comfy...and come browse with me...*warning* - this is a long post...

I stopped at Dollarama the other day to pick up a vinyl basket to store Liesel's "stuff"...(ear cleaning solution, toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton balls, etc.). I found exactly the size I needed...and saw these cute things...the Frankenstein hand soap dispenser....filled for $3!!  And the Witches Brew travel cup....adorable!

Fall place mats...I considered getting one to set under Liesel's water bowl...keeping with the season & all...

And surprise of surprises!  Even Wal Mart had some adorable Hallowe'en decor!  I absolutely love this witch...not the least bit scary though...the detail on her face is amazing...

And this one...crushing hard on her!  She's a bit more "frightful".....

Who doesn't love scary pumpkins?  The smaller ones came in orange as well...but I'm loving the black.  These are vinyl so a battery operated candle should be used in them....

Since Home Sense is close by...I decided to just see if they had any new stock...and they did not disappoint this time!  Not hoards of decor...but more than they've been able to carry lately...

Firstly...a couple of gorgeous...not before time...cushions!!  Heart be still....look at this beaded beauty!!

And the truck had me at hello!  Toss in a pumpkin....and I'm there...lovin' it!

How adorable are these ghosts?  And they are candles!!  I think I may have to pick up the smaller one! These are so boo-ti-ful!!

A sneak peek at a couple of Christmas things...ya'll know I love me a cute gnome!  And the candles..with delicious names like Maple Praline Butter and Spiced Holiday cookies...I was so tempted to get them!  I know Bath & Body Works will be coming out with holiday scent candles...so I'm waiting patiently...

I must admit....I have never been a fan of Rae Dunn decor pieces.  I know...call me crazy.  Until this fall...and it's mostly the Hallowe'en items I really love...and I think this is the other piece I will pick up.  They had a number of dog dishes with cute sayings on them...but I don't think Liesel needs a bowl that tells her to Eat.  She's pretty much got that one down perfectly...

Yup...an adorable bird house!  Too cute not to share...

And this adorable squirrel...actually is holding a covered dish...perfect for nuts or candies...

A few coffee mugs...I especially like the Thankful Ones...

These ended up coming home with me...a set of four...with the stand...never thought I'd find these..

A perfect addition to my coffee area...my favourite mug is the mummy one...but I do love them all...

If you're needing a refill...go grab one.  I'll wait.  I said this was going to be a long post...but peeps...I've been waiting for-ever to see some fall & Hallowe'en awesomeness in the stores here!!

So let's continue...would these canisters not add an amazing pop of colour to any counter?  Each piece was sold separately...it wasn't a set...but these are ghord-ous!!  Very tempting...

Since Home Sense was showing off some amazing decor...I decided to check out Winners!   And the awesomeness continued..

And a frightful assortment of mugs...they are all my favourites...the black one on the right has a haunted house cover....

And this one....there were a few of these...but by the time I was able to catch a photo...only one left!

And lastly...how gorgeous are these lamps?  I love different lamps and lighting...and if I needed them...these would have come home with me.  Imagine these lit up...

Well that was enough to satisfy my craving for fall & Hallowe'en decor...for now.  Things have been in short supply here for a while now.  It's wonderful to see items slowly trickling in.

Much cooler here today....a real touch of fall in the air.  Still no word on the carpeting for the back entry stairs...it's officially been two months since it was ordered.  So I'm guessing the rumblings of home owners waiting up to six months for carpet is not too far fetched....

I hope you enjoyed browsing with me!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Til next time....

This & That

We've been enjoying our walking trails with Liesel...enjoying the start of fall colours....and we saw the biggest owl...causing a ruckus amongst the birds!  I couldn't get a decent photo...as it was too far up in a tree...and would have blended in with the branches.  But we could watch him (or her)....as she was watching us.  And a number of squirrels and chipmunks ran across our path...you would think Liesel...being a dachshund would be all over them!  But she had little interest in them...

I enjoy when the cooler temps arrive and as a rule, we get winds this time of year.  Not cold enough to be uncomfortable...but amazing for walking!   There are so many trails on the Island...they span from tip to tip.  The trails are former railroad routes...once the trains were taken off the Island...the tracks were taken up and walking trails were made.

Avid bikers bike from one end of the Island to the other...it covers about 273 km.  During the winter, the Snowmobile Association grooms the trails for snowmobiling...ATV's and skis are not permitted on the trails.  And the trails are policed...we met two police officers on ATV's (on trails groomed along side the walking trail)....and they patrol on bikes as well.  It's a great time of year to visit the various trails...we really enjoy them.

My first order from the Canadian Bath & Body Works website arrived...and it did not disappoint!  Their candles are amazing...and I ordered a few hand soaps as well..

And with fall...came the need for new slippers...ones with memory foam insoles and anti slip treads..I'm enjoying the comfort of these ones...

With our anniversary coming up next month...Mr. Seventies ordered the new iPhone 13 Mini for me!  I'm so excited...it was pre-ordered and delivery is early next month.  I chose a pretty clue colour...

And this colour for the protective case...the phone comes with a charger...but there is a MagSafe charger that can be placed on the back of the case for wireless charging.  I may get one of those later on..

I'm excited to try this Apple phone...my laptop is a Mac...and last Christmas Mr. Seventies gifted me with Apple Air pods.  Unfortunately they don't work well with my current phone.  The whole idea of the air pods was to be able to listen to music on my phone when out walking...but Apple & Samsung don't play nicely together...so I've been forced to use my over the ear headphones.  I'll get to use myAir Pods with this new phone.

And lastly, Anthrolopologie has in stock the matching shams to my Rivulets quilt!  I ordered a set...as I'm excited to put my quilt set on in December!  (great colour for the holidays)...

We are still waiting news regarding the carpeting for the back entry!  It's been almost two months since it was ordered!  And no word yet.  I plan to call the store today...although I'm sure if there was any news...I would have been contacted.  Crazy how long it is taking for things to arrive.  Our neighbour, whose pool needs replacing...has been advised it will be 2023 before that can happen!  And furniture stores are reporting months of back orders...if it isn't in the store...it will be a long wait.

That's all the news from here...thanks so much for stopping by!  Have an awesome day!!

Last Official Days of Summer

Summer ends this week...and fall begins!  At least on the calendar...we are having  cool nights but gorgeous, sun filled days.  We have about five pumpkins flourishing in the garden...Mr. Seventies placed this one on the front step...and we didn't even plant pumpkins!

We have a compost bin...and last years pumpkin must have went in there...and the seeds ended up in the garden when the compost was added & tilled into the garden in May.   The other crop doing really well right now is Buttercup squash...I remember paying $5.00 for one in the grocery store last year...so requested more get planted this year so we won't run out...

While at Home Sense the other day...I spotted these amazing candles!!  They resemble take out coffee cups ...available in two scents...

I couldn't resist the Pumpkin Spice Latte candle...the cover obviously comes off before lighting...it smells so amazing...

And a smaller candle with an equally amazing scent...

I'm loving all the fall scents this year...strong scents do not bother us...and we often get compliments how awesome our home smells!!

I'm not sure how long I can resist this adorable dachshund witch!  Don't be surprised if she follows me home in the not to distant future...

I mentioned before the lack of fall cushions in stock...they were able to bring in a few...but none that interested me...what they did have were Halloween themed as opposed to fall....

The days are getting shorter...and the evenings are darker earlier.  We've been enjoying the walking trails with Liesel...and starting to see leaves turning colour!

Is it fall-like where you are?  From now until Christmas is my absolute favourite time of the year.  January til May...not so much.

Have an awesome day & thanks so much for stopping by!!

Few Fall Touches-Master Bedroom

I didn't do much fall decor in the master bedroom...just the odd pretty pumpkin or two...the linen duvet is gorgeous...love the mustard colour.  You can see where I hung my tobacco basket...and if you recall the wreath was a purchase from Wal Mart's website.  I decided it was too pretty to hang outdoors in the elements.

I'm not a fan of the ruffled or pleated bedskirts...so I opted for my own version!  It's two tablecloths placed over the box spring...

I love this beautiful white pumpkin...adorned with such pretty flowers...and I added my beads for a bit of fall flavour...

Another view...in the absence of a headboard..I'm loving the basket & wreath...

A close up of the wreath...if hung  on the front door, as was my plan...the fall high winds & rain would have blown it away...so I opted to keep it inside...

A couple more pumpkins added to the dresser...I aimed to keep it simple...and easy for maintaining and dusting...

Still no word on the arrival of the carpeting for the back entry...I'm sure we will hear once it arrives.  And an update on the hello decal I ordered for the back door.  It arrived a few weeks ago..but was incomplete without transfer paper.  The seller has since left Etsy, however I found their FB page and sent a message to request a replacement.  They recommended I pick up transfer paper at Dollarama.     Um...no.

A new decal supposedly was mailed (within Canada) after the Labor Day weekend...but has not arrived.  I contacted Etsy...and the seller to request a refund and ordered from another seller.  It was mailed out yesterday...I'm hoping this decal arrives & is the complete transfer.

Sometimes things just don't work out as hoped.  Showers in the forecast today...then clearing.  We are sticking pretty close to home these days...Covid is in our school system...elementary & high schools...and masks are required again when indoors with the public.  We never stopped wearing our masks & hand sanitizing...most people have been doing the same.  Sadly, most cases are the result of travel from outside our Atlantic provinces...arriving & testing positive.

But such is life.  Stay safe wherever you are & thanks so much for stopping by!

PS - Patiently waiting for Bath & Body Works Canada to start on-line ordering sometime this month!

Fall In The Family Room

It's feeling like fall here today...with a frost advisory for overnight!   I love this time of year!  I did a little bit of fall decor in the family room...I switched out the faux flowers in the mason jars for a  pop of fall colours & added the pumpkin runner underneath.   I'm loving the Rae Dunn Boo throw...very soft and snuggly....

Crushing hard on Eek & Boo - BOGO at Michaels...

Last fall, I picked up two wreaths during Michael's BOGO sale...one for our home...and the other for daughter's home...since Mr. Seventies and our son-in-law are football fans...

Remember the white pumpkin I picked up a little while back at Home Sense?  It looks so pretty when lit up at night....with a fall scented candle inside...and beside it I have my pumpkin tart burner warming delicious smelling tarts.  I filled the lantern with small pumpkins, pine cones and faux acorns...

I set my red truck...with pumpkins in the back... on the stand between the chairs...

My son-in-law showed me how to put amazing screen savers on our television!!  We don't have a Smart TV...so he gave me an extra device he had on hand...and we set it up so I can pick any screen saver on You Tube.  There are hundreds to chose from...for any season.  It doesn't show up well in photos...this is one we had on the other night.  We usually pick a different one every evening...they are so pretty to watch...leaves falling...and most have sound.  I usually mute the sounds...depending on the back ground we choose...

I also added a few fall touches in the main bedroom.  My honest review on the linen sheets purchased a few weeks ago.  Maybe we're missing something, but not happy how rough and scratchy they are!  I've washed & dried them three times (in the dryer)...added baking soda and fleecy to the cycles...and still they aren't comfortable to the touch.  I've read where they will soften up over time...but what about in the meantime?  So...yeah.  They are a big no for us.

The duvet cover, on the other hand...which was a custom order on Etsy from Russia...is amazing!  So beautiful, soft and well constructed...we're extremely happy with it.  But the sheets are a no for us.  Not to mention one piece in the order, a pillowcase arrived with a hole.  Have not received a replacement yet..but not in a rush to use them anyways.

It's sunny & cool here today...hope you have an awesome day where ever you are.

Ready For Fall

Let's start in the kitchen....loving the fall touches we added to the table...ready for brunch...

Mr. Seventies is loving the coffee bar...everything all in one place to make a hot cup of coffee or tea...

A closer look...the two spider dishes were a Value Village find...perfect for holding a muffin or cinnamon roll...and the Witches Brew caldron mugs are a find from last year..

My scarecrow tart warmer is working overtime these days...it is originally from Scentsy, but I got it much cheaper on Poshmark...brand new.  I placed one of the amazing smelling candles from Bath & Body Works on the cook top., I wish I could share how amazing the house smells!  And of course a couple of jars of Hallowe'en treats...

It's difficult to get great photos in the kitchen....it's either too much light or too dark...but I'm loving my battery operated ceramic spooky ghost...a Home Sense find...

Remember the adorable red truck banner I picked up during BOGO at Michael's?  Mr. Seventies hung it across a couple of kitchen windows...I do apologize for the lighting.  Only so much you can do with a cell phone camera...but you get the idea...

A couple of years ago...my friend offered me some Japanese Lanterns from her gardens...so I just pulled a few..and really had not much hope of them surviving.  Well they did &  came in this year...I was able to pick a few to place in the pitcher in the front entry...most are not mature yet...but I did get a few....

If you recall the ceramic Hallowe'en tree I purchased from Michael's as well.  I was very disappointed to discover it was not battery operated...but needed to be plugged in.  Since I did not want one with a cord...I returned it.    Where I had planned to set it was not close to an electrical outlet.

Hope you enjoyed a little look at our kitchen decorated for fall.  Thanks for stopping by...enjoy your Monday!
