End of October...Already

It's hard to believe we are in the last week of October already!  Since Hallowe'en is a go here...Mr. Seventies purchased the "treats"...(which are really for him)...as we seldom get trick or treaters..and if we do..it's only a handful.  With so many housing developments in the area....parents choose to stick closer to home than venture out with little ones on a busy road such as ours.

Well...this is the end of an era.  After much prodding...Mr. Seventies finally sawed up the old picnic table & used the lumber in the burn pot!  This picnic table has withstood the test of time...it was purchased about 36 years ago...and each and every year since...it has been repaired and stained.  Until...it could be no more...bits and pieces after sawing it up...

It was used mainly for outdoor projects, drying of squash & onions from the garden...a general all round outside work table.  Now it's a pile of ashes...

While Mr. Seventies was doing that...I busied myself and put together apples and raspberries (from our stocks)...a delicious blend for applesauce!  And grand baby loves her some fresh warm applesauce!

A couple of shrubs are showing off their fall colours beautifully...so happy to see our burning bush looking so gorgeous....the tree branch that fell on it last year during Hurricane Dorian...broke a number of branches off...but here she is in all her fall glory...

And a spirea changing into her fall colours....

We've had some beautiful fall days...cool and breezy...just the kind of weather Liesel and I like to take advantage of and enjoy the fresh air...out for a morning stroll...

This day is bittersweet...it is one year ago today I lost my beloved best friend...Christine....

Not a day since have I not missed her...and time has done nothing to ease her loss.  RIP my dear friend....until we meet again...

I'll leave you with a verse from a song at her memorial service...

Hug your loved ones a little tighter today!

Let's Do Some Browsing

I popped into my favourite home decor store a few days ago...some lovely Christmas decor and goodies everywhere!  Oh...I was so tempted...how cute are these characters?

Not much in the way of holiday cushions or throws...but staff was very busy stocking shelves and setting up displays.  I did manage to see this adorable cushion...

I am so crushing on this piece...a cute holiday camper...it would look amazing on a front porch or step...

Some pretty kitchen towels to put you in the holiday mood...

And this little cutie..hanging out looking all adorable...

In keeping with my promise to myself...I have not purchased any new Christmas decor....yet.  I'm sure there will be that one....or two...pieces that I won't be able to resist...my name is Charlotte...and I have a love of all things decor...

In other news...Hallowe'en is a go here...I'm happy little trick or treaters will be able to get out & about safely.  We seldom get goblins...you've read where I've mentioned we live on an extremely busy road...and although we have sidewalks and street lights...parents tend to accompany their little ones in one of the many housing developments off our road.  But...as in the previous 32 years...Mr. Seventies will stock up on treats...just in case this might be the year we get an onslaught of kids!  As usual I advised him to purchase snacks he likes...because he will be the big kid enjoying them!

Last weekend he tied up a few cornstalks to our bird house pole...and added the traditional dachshund themed carved pumpkin!  He does such a great carving job!!

Update on new gutter install - supposed to take place next week!  The construction industry is booming here...and workers are swamped with jobs...it's taken a bit longer to get the new gutters done...but fingers crossed it will happen sooner rather than later.

The weather has been remaining warm...except in the evenings and over night.  Remember the gorgeous knitted wrap I ordered a few months back from a seller on Etsy?  I had the opportunity to show it off on date night!   Due to Covid...we don't tend to venture into restaurants...but felt a night out was long overdue!  We enjoyed a delicious meal at a local seafood and pub restaurant!

Our little grand daughter...now six months old...continues to thrive!  Her feeding tube was removed a little over two weeks ago..and she has begun "real" food!  Her Mama mixes fresh veggies and fruits in her Magic Bullet...and Annabelle loves to eat!

I have some fresh cooked squash from our garden and slow cooker mix of apples and raspberry applesauce to drop off today. Milk protein and soy are still an issue...she remains on a prescribed formula...and discovered certain pablum contain milk proteins.   And...drumroll please...she rolled over all on her own yesterday!!  My heart is so happy and full when I hear her laugh...and squeal...she is such a happy little baby now!

Here's hoping you have an awesome day wherever you are today!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

We celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday at my daughter's house...it was a wonderful afternoon and meal...this is the first time my daughter had the opportunity to use her passed down china (from her grandmother)....and her mother's gold flatware.  The flatware case (sorry, I didn't remember to get a photo)..belonged to her great grandmother...Mr. Seventies re-finished the outside and had it professionally relined as a gift to me a number of years ago...and I have passed the case & flatware to her.   I'll be on the look out for some pretty napkins and table runner....in the meantime...the table looked lovely and very sentimental ....

Mr. Seventies completed one row of the patio walkway...the plan is to do two more rows (to the left) similar to a patio setting....

My precious oldest grand daughter gifted me with some awesome smelling Bath and Body Works hand soaps (she knows her Mimi well!)...a package of delicious smelling tarts...body butter from Body Works...and a cute beer sign for her Grampie.....such a sweet girl....and yes...I am biased...

Lastly, I want to share my Hallowe'en candy corn nails!  Almost good enough to eat....

Wishing my fellow Canadians a very Happy Thanksgiving!  We enjoyed turkey and all the fixings...with not one but two pumpkin cheesecakes and pumpkin pies with whipped cream for dessert!  Time to lace up my sneakers and walk off a bit all that food!!  Thank goodness for stretchy pants!!

Happy Friday!!

Another week has flown by...we had extremely high winds yesterday...which prompted the closure of the Confederation Bridge to high sided vehicles.  And it rained off and on most of the day...one rainbow we saw on the way to our daughter's home....we didn't check for a pot of gold!  In another area...there was a double rainbow...but too much traffic for me to capture a photo or two...

Did a mini decor makeover on daughter's fireplace...she and her hubby are hosting Thanksgiving dinner...and with a little one...and being a busy and exhausted Mom...we kept it simple...I was wishing we had picked up a couple of fall garlands for their mantle and ours.  If I get a chance in the next day or so...I'm going to see what is still available...

A couple of small open canvas totes were required to hold grand baby's ever growing collection of toys...to set on her book case...and while at Wal Mart I spotted these....super cute...but we are overstocked with dachshund dinnerware and mugs...

And of course...I had to check out the tart aisle!  And was so happy to find a new scent in stock...Banana Toffee Pie...smells a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!

I'm a little obsessed...maybe?  My tart stash...the small round ones on the left are for the dachshund visor air freshener clip in the SUV...anyone else love melting tarts like I do?

Today it's still very windy & cool...but sunny...my kind of day for walking with Liesel.  Even though she is scared of the wind...it may die down enough to get out for some fresh air this afternoon.

Hope you have an awesome day too!!

Quick Catch Up

Wet and cool here today...typical fall day.  I want to share my quilt set which finally arrived...it seemed to take a long time...over three weeks to arrive.  But it was worth the wait...it is so nice...and the quality is amazing.  I apologize for the darkness of the photo...it was taken before the sun had come around to that side of the house...

Daughter, grand daughter & I took a tour around Michael's...their fall items are 50% off....plus an additional 10% off...I picked up this cute piece....and yes...that is my welcome sign in the background.  We bring it in when it's windy outside...as it will get blown over...unless something is fairly heavy..,there's a good chance the wind will blow it off the step.  I also put my fall pumpkin table runner on the table....

And Christmas decor is being set out in the stores....I really like this piece...and think I will do decorate my tobacco basket for the holidays....

Some really awesome wall decor...

I might need a couple of pieces after all....but will wait until all the decor is out....

And how about this adorable book my daughter picked up for our grand baby!  She loves to be read to all ready....and has quite the collection of books.  This one is perfect...and Grampie is looking forward to reading it to her....

We are coming up on Thanksgiving weekend here...and looking forward to having our girls and grand daughters for Thanksgiving dinner.  We are celebrating at our daughter's home...with the men preparing the meal!  Our son-in-law's parents are coming as well...bringing pumpkin pies and turkey dressing!  We are looking forward to a delicious meal and we get to see our ginger girls!!

Fresh vegetables are compliments from our garden...lots of potatoes, carrots and squash!  You can't get more organic or fresher than that!

Looking forward to minding grand daughter today....her canine brother has an appointment with his veterinarian...and with Covid...only he & his Mama can be at the clinic.  So I get to hang out with my precious Grumpy Cat...and love every minute of it!  To hear her laugh...and see her precious smile..makes my heart so happy!  She has come so far since her heart surgery in early July...we are thankful God put these amazing surgeons and nurses in place to heal her and make her well.  She is growing and thriving each day....is on week #2 without the feeding tube.  Let's hope she continues to gain weight...so it won't be required to be put back in.

So, what are your plans for Thanksgiving....if you are celebrating this weekend?

Back in Action

Hey all!  We had beautiful weather all last week...summer temperatures in fact.  Now..it's cooled down...more fall feeling.

My laptop had a key that wasn't working....Mr. Seventies attempted to fix it...but it wasn't working properly and was so annoying.  I could have taken it in for repair...but it might have been gone a few days...and I didn't want that.  I purchased a new Mac Book Air...my previous two Macs were Mac Pros...but I see no difference between the two models.  The Air suits my needs just fine.  I will drop my old one off for repair...and Mr. Seventies can use it (it's only three years old...so still lots of life in it yet).

We spent a day in Summerside...picked up grand baby's book case. enjoyed a delicious lunch and on the way home...stopped to pick up a couple of pumpkins at a road side trailer...one Luna (white) and a traditional orange pumpkin...

Mr Seventies has been wanting to put some walking stones on the crushed rock section of our driveway...these stones are really heavy...he will work on it over a stretch of time...it's pretty labour intensive...

We were able to move the bins closer to the back walkway...so they are now out of sight and closer for us to fill....

These are the first three stones...he only brings three stones per trip in our SUV.....as the total weight is around 100 pounds.  He made a couple of trips so....and if the weather is good on the weekend he will continue on with his project....(new gutters are still on the to do list...just waiting for the gutter company to come remove the old ones and install new ones)...

Our drains for the gutters are under the crushed rock...buried in the ground.  Remember when the truck delivering our roof shingles last year caused damage to our newly paved drive?  Well....he also somehow managed to drive over the buried pipe and crack it.  Mr. Seventies dug up the pipe...lowered a new one even further in the ground...then covered it with dirt and crushed rock again.  The opening for water seepage is on the other side of the crushed rock....onto the side lawn.  I'll share photos when he has his project finished.

I want to share a vintage crib toy I found for grand baby's crib.  (she has one that is adorable...projects stars onto her ceiling).  This particular Fisher Price activity centre....is identical to the one her Mama had in her crib when she was a baby!!  I discovered it on FB marketplace...and it was very close by. Of course it was given a very thorough cleaning and disinfecting...everything works on it.  It just may entice her to roll over....she is so close to it now!

I popped into my favourite decor store a few days ago...just had to admire the fall cushions!!  Look how pretty!!!

This one was very hard to leave behind...I'm crushing on it hard....just sayin'.....

Liesel is like a small child when her Mama comes home from errands...she waits patiently to see if I've brought her a new toy!  Seldom do I disappoint....(I do tuck them away for later use as well).
Her favourite game is to push them under the furniture...then cry because she cannot reach them!  That's fun....right?

She gets bathed and groomed every eight weeks...but I saw this adorable dog shampoo & conditioner...I didn't purchase it...as I have some on hand...but it was tempting!

And look what is appearing already!  I love it...can never come to early for me!!  How adorable...I have so much Christmas decor now...but it is tempting!  We've decided to put our Christmas tree up in our downstairs family room this year ...we have a cozy propane stove (looks like a wood burning stove).  With my dish cabinet and other cabinet Mr. Seventies refinished for me...there is just no room for a tree!  Not without major re-arranging....and since all the decor is stored downstairs anyways...much easier to get out and set everything up down there!

And lastly...I have to obsess a little about these Spanx faux leather leggings!  They are amazing...so comfortable...just like wearing sleep pants....only classier!  I own two black pair...and daughter has requested a pair for Christmas!  Good thing I ordered them previously...I was notified they sold out in 24 hours!

That is all my news...glad to be up and running again!  Hope your day is awesome!
