Browse Around Winners

It's raining again....farmers are struggling to bring in their crops....everything is water logged!   Our corn stalks have taken a beating....they should rebound...we're hoping!  We've been able to pick a few cobs & they are delicious!

The cushions on the patio furniture dried (the covers had blown off) & we put it away for the year.....along with the pool floats & solar blanket.....the pool is currently draining....

I came across these end tables on FB marketplace .... offered $40 for both, the seller accepted & we picked them up for use in the downstairs family room....they are similar to the ones in the upstairs family room....only smaller.  The tops lift up which makes the great for storage....I may get Mr. Seventies to sand & re-stain them....

The downstairs family room had an oval braided rug.....which we gave to daughter for use under her farmhouse dining set....I had planned to put a runner down in its place.....but decided to wait until a certain puppy won't pee on it.....(she does all her business outside.....but why tempt fate?).

It was chilly enough one morning a warm fleece was needed for our walk...

I hope you'll join me as we browse around Winners....look at the first thing I came across...doesn't this guy look dapper?

There is still a lot of Hallowe'en decor in the stores....these cushions are gorgeous.....I'm loving the green shades....

I'm crushing on this teapot and mugs....does anyone use teapots anymore??

And how about some adorable mugs....I was tempted again but I know I have a number of Hallowe'en mugs in my stash....

These soap dispensers caught my eye....I'm pretty certain I have a pumpkin dispenser....

I love the colours used on this cushion....the cushion section is jam packed with beautiful ones to pick from....

Isn't she a pretty little witch??

These cast iron crows weren't as expensive as the ones at Inspired Living....$20 each compared to $50 at Inspired Living.....

Obsessed with this chip & dip set....I already have one....but it isn't Hallowe'en though....

The most adorable squirrel ever.....we have red squirrels....I'm pretty certain we only have red ones.....not the grey coloured ones....

And these pretty lamps caught my eye....I had considered them for our bedroom dresser....but I'm certain they would get knocked over....Mr. Seventies agreed....lol...

This beautiful cookie canister would be gorgeous on a kitchen counter....

Thanks so much for tagging along with me today....greatly appreciated!  We received good news regarding our neighbour & friend who has been undergoing cancer treatment.....he was given the all clear & is currently cancer free!!   Mr Seventies & he are good buddies....having worked with him for ten years doing various renovations & construction projects.....

Have an awesome weekend friends!!

Til next time.....

Windy & Wet Weekend!

To say our weather for the past three days has been wet, windy & miserable.....is an understatement!  And a couple more days of wet & cold are in the forecast!!

First thing to happen....the wood pellet stove has been called into active duty....with temperatures dipping into the single digits....a warm fire was needed....

Mr. Seventies plans to set the pool to drain & take in the pump....leaves & debris have blown into the pool....and we didn't have the outside furniture covers secured tightly....one chair & the love seat cushions....are soaked (the covers blew off)....you'd think we were newbies to living here!!

I spent a full morning packing up winter clothes & getting out our winter wear......"sweater weather" has arrived!!

Clancy Mae has been a trooper tho....she doesn't mind the rain much...it's the wind she is not a fan of! (me either)....a number of homes were without power for a few hours....I was surprised ours didn't go out....

In other news....this happened early one morning! Notice anything different about the microwave over the range?

I had used it a few minutes prior....and then noticed....the clock wasn't lit up....and when I opened the door....no light...after checking the breaker....that meant only one thing....

It went kaput!  We purchased this one in 2018....have you noticed our appliances now have short life spans now?  My parents had them for decades before they needed replacing!!  Gone are those days!!

Mr. Seventies got to work removing it....while I was searching local stores online for ones carrying them in stock!  Usually, ordering is required....and you wait for the item to arrive....

Half the battle of doing an install....is getting the template correctly in place...we were able to use the previous one....you can see where the opening is for venting outside...(since the microwave is a range hood also....above the counter top range)......

I'm happy to report Home Depot had three of this model in stock....I ordered online & within an hour we were able to pick it up at the store.....

Daughter was on hand to help with the install....but our neighbour was called upon for stronger manpower....and he & Mr. Seventies were able to get it in place.....

This model has a rack .....first model for us like this....(this is our third microwave/range vent combo).....I thought the dishwasher would be the next appliance to go.....shush...don't let it hear me....

So that's always a fun, unexpected pleasure....we dropped the old one off at our recycling depot, along with a few batteries and paint cans with a bit of paint left in them.....

In other news....before the wet weather arrived....we spent a day with grand daughter & Clancy Mae in Summerside...first stop was Kool Breeze greenhouse....Mr. Seventies was on the hunt for a potted fall mum.....

Since this colour is new to us....he & grand daughter chose it for the front step....the common colours are orange, yellow or a deep burgundy....this pretty pinkish one is so pretty....

A whole wardrobe available for Miss Giddy Goose is sold in the gift shop....how adorable is this Thanksgiving outfit...hard to resist....

I have a couple of Hallowe'en outfits....grand daughter chose the Santa Claus outfit....although the gingerbread one was adorable as well....and the "angel" set in the centre is so cute.....

Now Miss Giddy Goose will be ready for the upcoming holiday season....

Had to chuckle when I saw this tin sign....

There were beautiful fall displays outside....these annuals are called celosia .....aren't they pretty?

There were a few pumpkins on site....I find them a bit on the small side....we have about five I can see in our garden....still green...we need sun so they will grow & mature....

Sadly, I have not had one hydrangea bloom this year....I don't know if we had too much rain & too little sun....we have two & neither bloomed ...they are alive & well....just no blooms....these ones are gorgeous at Kool Breeze.....

I see many of these around our neighbourhood....they seem to be plentiful.....we have one this colour and a blue one.....fingers crossed for next year....

After we had lunch....picnic style since we had Clancy Mae with us...we stopped at Willow Bakery...grand daughter enjoyed a delicious iced gingerbread man....while I picked up a few of their infamous cream cheese iced cinnamon buns!!  (Mr. Seventies favourite).

The corn in the garden took a terrible beating this weekend with the winds....when it stops raining Mr. Seventies will assess & hopefully they will stand up again.....

I had planned to start decorating for fall & Hallowe'en....having hoped the glass in the family room window would be replaced by now.  I called the glass place & was advised the installer who came to measure in July...would call me.  (this was middle of last week).  I've not heard anything yet....I'll try again this week.

And before I forget....it's a long weekend....stores & services here are closed for the day.....

Schools & buses will be rolling herentomorrow....always a busy time of year!  My friend & I have a trip to the mainland planned for early October....we're looking forward to a day of shopping & lunch.....

Be sure to& join me later today for blog parties over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphosis Monday and again tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays.....

As always, sincere thanks for spending a bit of your time with me today....I so appreciate it!!

Welcome to The First "Ber" Month

Touch of fall is in the air ....single digit temperatures overnight....and we have a "special weather statement" issued for Friday, Saturday & Sunday....lots of rain headed our way!

I plan to bring out my fall & winter wear & pack up my summer things....the large wicker trunk in the kitchen (holds swim wear & pool towels) Mr. Seventies set in the laundry room downstairs....he had planned to drain the pool....but will wait until after the weekend....

Cannot wait to bring out my fall-hallowe'en stash!!  I'd hoped the glass in the family room window would have been replaced by now....I called the company, the installer is due to call me back...and since Clancy Mae did not use her playpen, I successfully sold it on Marketplace....

I was out & about a few days ago....saw & picked up a couple of things....Bath & Body Works gave out coupons a while back....I took advantage &  purchased this gorgeous pumpkin candle holder.....and  a three wick candle that smells incredible!  The pumpkins were available in three or four additional colours....I needed the sales gal to find me an orange one....(she is the sweetest person) ..... I purchased the last orange pumpkin they had in stock!!

This bear candle holder is new.....I cannot wait to see the Christmas goodies they bring in...

I stopped into Inspired Living and had a browse around....loads of fall goodness there....I'm obsessed with these crows.....but was gobsmacked at the $50 price tags....I do realize they are cast iron.....but still...

I love everything about this piece....a purse vase...complete with leather handles!  I love the faux buds arranged as well....and really needed to  restrain myself from purchasing it all!!  The vase alone was almost $80!!!  There are numerous stems each ranging in the $7-$9 price point....ugh.  The vase is available in white as well...but that pink...would look awesome on our bedroom dresser....

I found exactly what I was looking for when I saw these adorable stocking holders....

The paw print was the obvious choice...perfect for holding Clancy Mae's Christmas stocking....

This arrangement of faux hydrangeas caught my eye....not for the colours but that they are "real touch" faux hydrangeas....not the ones that feel like paper....these ones can be easily dyed too....I did a post about dyeing mine a while back....and it worked out great....

So, if you don't like the colours....pop them in a bath of hot dye & let them dry overnight!  This arrangement of stems was pretty tho...

This print is very nice....fits right into the fall mode....

These adorable pieces caught my eye......they are good size....

This is the grand total of fall-Hallowe'en decor at our Wal Mart!!  Nothing else....

I came across these cute candles while at Wal Mart....again they carry very little in the way of home products or decor....these were about $20 each.....

I brought in Miss Giddy Goose from the front step before the massive amount of rain hits....soon be time to switch out her outfit from strawberry social outfit to jack-o-lantern or ghost!!

We were required to weigh Clancy Mae for her to get the correct dosage of flea, tick & worm medication...she is up to a whopping 7.5 pounds!!  Hard to believe she will be seven months old next Monday!!  When she turns one we won't have to weigh her each month for the proper medication amount....she will be officially an "adult" and at her projected weight.....

She is beginning to have quite the toy collection....and insists we put her toy tote on its side for easier access!  Life was dull before this tyke arrived!!  And we love it!!

Thanks muchly for spending your time with me today!!  Have an awesome weekend....we'll be spending ours in raincoats and rain boots!!

Til next time....

North Rustico, PEI

We loaded Clancy Mae in the car one afternoon & drove to North Rustico,, (not to be confused with South Rustico, Rusticoville & Anglo Rustico).....North Rustico is an incorporated fishing community & has found a new niche as a spot for empty nesters to downsize to.

The village is about a 25 minute drive from Charlottetown..... and each year the village goes all out for Christmas...decorating their homes & yards....we took grand daughter last December....she had a great time walking about with us....

Welcome to North Rustico....which happens to be home of the famous Fisherman's Wharf Lobster Suppers....there were a number of tourist buses in the parking lot....

These are mussel traps, for lack of a better word in one harbour....

A fishing boat came into the harbour....it was fun to watch him weave in & around the buoys....red buoy means turn one way....blue buoy means turn another.....

A number of the fishing sheds have been converted into restaurants....others are still used to house boats & equipment....

One reason for our visit.....the amazing views.....and a beautiful boardwalk.....

As dusk was setting, it was beautiful when all the lamp posts lit up....

It was quite windy that day....a robust, warm breeze.....I resembled Bozo the Clown's sister...my hair was blown about.....since I had to remove my hat....before it ended up in the harbour.....

We chatted with so many people....all of whom were smitten with Clancy Mae....she was such a good girl....

This woollen shop in the village is one of my favourites....I was only able to get a minimum of photos...as it was busy....shoppers milling about....

I'm obsessed with this sweater with puffins....it comes with a hefty $400 price tag though....

The shop sells wool sweaters, coats mitts, hats & scarves...blankets & throws....anything you can knit...it's in this shop!

We stopped by a seafood shack & ordered clams & fries....and were sorely disappointed!  We'd heard how delicious the food was....yet the clams were like chewing rubber with soggy fries!  My supper consisted of two fries & I attempted to chew a clam - it was like chewing gum!

I'm not a huge fan of seafood to begin with....but if you are going to get it....it had better be good!  It wasn't!!

Before long, the skies began to look like this....with thunder & lightening....so we headed for home...

It thundered rain so hard....Mr. Seventies almost had to pull off to the side of the road & wait for it to let up!!  The road was busy....as many were heading home from Charlottetown...

So....the big question....did I purchase anything in the wool shop?

I sure did!  This beautiful knit coat was 50% off.....regular price $300....and it is so warm & cozy...and will be great to wear for walking this fall....

It fits beautifully, zippers up & has a hood for extra warmth....and pockets!  Look at the gorgeous, knitted hearts....

I'll share the shop's website....if you want to have a browse....(not sponsored)... https://www.rusticosweaters.pe.ca/

The sales clerk insisted I bring in Clancy Mae for her to meet....so we had a lovely chat & visit....

I battled a tummy bug most of yesterday....and again today!  We're supposed to have grand daughter for the day & had planned a day of activities with her!  Her Mom has meetings this morning, so Mr. Seventies will pick grand daughter up & take her for a couple of hours....she loves going to the park!  Hopefully, when we have her on Wednesday, her Mimi will be feeling better....
