Time For A Few Wardrobe Additions

I spent an afternoon sorting through clothes...now that the cooler temperatures are here to stay....I have discovered I'm in need of some warmer apparel.  Not sure how that happened...lol.

Some of these items I've already received...others are on order...so let's dive in & see what my choices are...this sweater is not only adorable...but has to be one of the softest, lightweight, cozy ones I bought.  I love it so much...I actually have it in two colours...the brown as show here....and olive green...and I pair them with denims.  It's actually a bit longer than it appears...it's my go to comfort sweater....

This is another one I chose in different colours...a soft pink as shown...and off white...with the same navy heart.  This sweater is lightweight as well...and not bulky...

A couple of cut T's...great for hanging out!  I prefer curved bottoms on tops...as they don't tend to give me that cut in half look...much more slenderizing & flattering than regular, straight cut t's...this one has a v cut in the front and back....

This pretty one has a curved bottom...

I've been searching for a puffy vest...to pair with hooded sweatshirts...without adding a layer of bulk...or feel like I'm stuffed into a marshmallow.  This one is perfect.... just the right amount of puff...and warm.

And who doesn't love a velour skirt??  I chose it because I've seen it first hand (paired with the soft turtleneck & shoes below)...and it is more gorgeous in person than in photos.  The waist is fully elasticized...and a great look for the holidays...and comfortable!!

I will pair it with this turtle neck...which is so soft...and not tight around the neck...and so pretty...I would not pair it with jeans...but when I saw it paired with the above skirt...it is gorgeous...

And I'll finish off the outfit...with a pair of killer shoes!  Not killer as in hard on the feet...but in looks.  I'm not one for high heels...but these have such a nice square heel...without being clunky looking...but very dressy on your feet...they are so comfortable and easy to slip on...the shoe material is very lightweight and breathable...

So, what do you think of my choices?  Most have arrived already...just waiting on a couple en-route...

I was in the stores the other day...before the fall & Halloween decor can be whisked away...it's full blown Christmas out there!  While the next two months are a couple of my favourites...I'm not ready to get into holiday mode just yet!  We are looking forward to spending an evening with our newest trick or treater Hallowe'en night...although the long range forecast is calling for rain,  That might put a damper on the number of ghosts & goblins having fun!  Rumour has it we will be having a little "ladybug" trick or treating!!

This is also a bit of a sad week...as it's been two years since my best friend passed away.  Christine was a young gal (as was I) at the time we met & began working together.  Over the years (34 to be exact) we shared so many wonderful times, her marriage & birth of her daughters...the loss of her infant son and my eldest daughter...to losing our parents & siblings...birthday & numerous Christmas celebrations...and shopping trips and outings regularly.

Not a day goes by I don't think of her...and miss our time together.  I hope she's waiting for me...with a hot cup of tea.   I picked up a small plant & visited at the cemetery...she was such a lover of Halloween..I thought the little bat was appropriate.

Rest In Peace my friend....until we meet again...you are loved and missed beyond measure....

Give your loved ones and extra hug today....for tomorrow is not promised.

Fall Weather Has Arrived

October is winding down...Mr. Seventies carved one pumpkin over the weekend..he's been searching for patterns & stencils...and this one is the first one he finished.  Of course...a paw print is one of my favourites....

The other evening, after visiting with grand baby and family...we came across another lawn all decked out for Hallowe'en...people are having so much fun with inflatables...how cute are these guys?  Usually during October we get a lot of high winds...the tail end of hurricanes...but this year...it's been relatively quiet...

And speaking of inflatables...I could not resist picking up this adorable Santa dachshund inflatable!  Apparently he is four feet in length when set up...and you know he's never going to fit back in that box ever again, right?...but can't wait to set him out for the holiday season....

The Rae Dunn Christmas mugs & toppers arrived...I haven't had a chance to unbox them...I'll post photos when I do.  Since I want them for my coffee/hot chocolate area...I also picked out this cute cream & sugar set...

While I was strolling the grounds the other day with Liesel...I couldn't help but be in awe of the flaming beauty of our Burning Bush...aren't fall colours simply amazing?  When the tree behind it snapped & fell on it during a post tropical storm a couple of years ago....I was afraid too much damage had been done to it.  But after trimming it back...and with fingers crossed...it rebounded and is prettier than ever!!  During the summer the leaves are green...but once fall arrives...they change to a brilliant red...simply stunning!!

Very cool here this morning...and we woke up one morning with leaves strewn everywhere...covering the decks & steps...and many landing in the pool.  We must have had strong winds over night...along with rain.  Once it dried up Mr. Seventies cleared the leaves away & scooped them out of the pool.   The trees at the front of the house still have most of their leaves...but everyday there is less and less.  I know it's better for the trees to lose their leaves...especially if we get an early snow or ice...but I know it's going to be a long winter when they are bare....

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you have an awesome day....and get out to enjoy the beautiful fall day!

Well Done Mother Nature!!

We've been taking Liesel and hitting the trails...and the colours are simply breath taking!!  We explore a different trail...in various locations...each time we go walking...

It's awesome to have such beauty practically in your own back yard...

This day was overcast...but still the colours were gorgeous...

Along the way there are various areas to stop and sit a while....

Mr. Seventies has been busy puttering in the yard, cleaning out the vegetable and flower gardens...and put together a corn husk & pumpkin display.....

I hope the fall days are just as beautiful where you are!  Take a few minutes and enjoy Mother Nature's handiwork!!

Back Entry - Completed

After nearly a three month wait...we finally have the back stairs carpeted!  The installer did an amazing job...using a good quality, very soft under pad...makes the steps very cushioned on the feet.  Not a great angle to photograph...a tight area for sure...and what you see on the walls is shadowing..

With left over carpet, Mr. Seventies cut one large enough to protect the floor tiles...and I placed another smaller rug on top.  This photo was taken from the kitchen looking into the entry.  We have the boot tray set up downstairs...somewhere to put wet footwear.  Everything is finished....the base mouldings, door casings have been installed & painted...and the hand rail reattached.

2021 was certainly a busy year refreshing this seventies split!  Looking back at a quick recap...at the end of 2020 was the construction of the new storage barn along with new gutters and instal of the new counter cooktop.  We replaced every piece of interior moulding and all door casings...added decorative moulding to interior doors, filled & painted all the new wood work...and each room painted!  New lighting in all rooms..with the exception of the kitchen. And new tile flooring & carpet in the back entry...

While we waiting for the carpet to arrive...we turned our attention to the outside...painted both front & back exterior doors, shutters and window boxes.  Both decks and front steps were given a couple of coats of fresh stain as well.  One item left to do is replace the shower door in the lower level bath/laundry room.  The same gentleman who installed the shower door in the main bath is going to be doing that. I presume the door will need to be ordered.  I'd say we've had a productive year!  Not to mention a couple of jobs at daughter's home...their exterior retaining wall needed repair..Mr. Seventies to the rescue there.

My adorable Scentsy tart burner arrived..."All Wrapped Up".... if you remember I purchased it from a seller on Poshmark...

Very happy it arrived in time for me to use it this year..

The seller was sweet to include a couple of fall scented tarts...they smell amazing...

And I'm very excited to be attending a Christmas Decorating & Trends show in November!  This is a yearly event sponsored by a local interior designer...and was cancelled last year due to Covid.  With safety restrictions in place..it has been given the green light to be held!  My friend and our daughters will make it an evening out...dining out for supper...then take in the event!!

Today is forecast to be a decent day to harness Liesel up and hit the walking trail!  Hope you have an awesome day!!

A Couple of Spook-tac-u-lar Spots

We checked out a couple of yards all decked out for Halloween...grand-baby accompanied us to one home in her neighbourhood that had numerous inflatables...and the homeowners were amazing allowing us on their lawns for photos...this guy was one of my favourites!!

This cat freaked me out for a minute...as it's head turns back & forth...such fun!

And the witch is in!!  I loved too there were faux bones strewed about...

You had to be careful where you walked....as these are staked securely to the ground....(ask me how many times I tripped!)...

And this is another home in the area...all decked out...

Mr. Seventies & I decided to check out the decor outside a local B & B...

It was just before dark when I was getting photos...and very spooky with the winds blowing...

Very ghostly....

In the upstairs window you can see the outline of a spooky witch....

And this home...belongs to a friend of our daughter's...her hubby constructed the tombstones....the darn tree branch blocked my view...but she loves decorating for Halloween!

With the great fall weather...we've been checking out a number of local walking trails...and even made a friend along the way....

And Mother Nature is doing her best to show off the fall colours!!

Along most trails...there are benches, picnic tables...even bicycle stations (air for tires & tools available) and someone had left a couple of adorable painted shells....

We really enjoyed scoping out and walking on trails close by our house!  The Confederation Trails were once the railway line.  When the rail lines were removed walking & biking trails were constructed...and they run from one tip of the Island to the other.  Some...industrious souls...have walked and biked the complete route...over a few days...staying in B & B's along the way!  And then there's the whole Geocaching treasure hunt...very popular with the biking crowd!

In other news...the carpet installation for the back stairs is set for tomorrow!  Cannot wait for it to finally be completed!

A local interior designer is making an announcement this week...for a possible Christmas home decor evening seminar!  Last year the event had to be cancelled...I'm hoping something is in the works for this year!  My friend & our daughters usually make an evening of it....dining out then take in the seminar.  Fingers crossed it can be pulled off safely this year with proof of vaccination and social distancing!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Have an awesome day wherever you are!!

My Latest Obsession & Carpet Update

I can see where my plan to downsize our Christmas "stuff" is not going to go as planned.  I've never been a fan of Rae Dunn pottery...a mug that tells me to drink seems un-necessary.  Until I discovered Halloween pieces....and now Christmas awesomeness!

Finding items here is as scarce as locating hen's teeth...and Poshmark, Ebay & Etsy....tend to exaggerate prices.  I found a Canadian website...and ordered a few mugs & toppers.  I might be a little obsessed...

Am I the only one who loves these mugs & toppers?  Going to have an adorable Christmas coffee bar I'm thinking...

And.....drumroll...the carpet for the back entry stairs has arrived!!  Install is scheduled for next week!  Only 2 1/2 months delay...but we've been hearing long waits for just about everything from appliances & furniture to building supplies.  We're very thankful to be able to finish the back entry & Mr. Seventies can re-install the handrail.  We are also being advised to order & shop early for Christmas...as quantities might be an issue with goods being back up in ports all over the world.

With the new carpeting...comes the dilemma of where to place our footwear...especially during the winter months.  There is literally no where to put boots when you come in from outside...except on the steps...where the new carpeting will be.  So...we've come up with the only feasible solution....albeit inconvenient...we don't want boots & shoes left on the stairs.  We've decided to place a mat and a boot tray at the bottom of the stairs...

It means removing your footwear as soon as you come in...then carrying them down the stairs & setting them on the tray.  The only other place...is to set up an area in the kitchen...and neither of us like that idea.  At least this way...the carpeting on the steps will be protected from wet footwear.

Not a lot of thought went into design (virtually none) when this seventies split was built in 1973!  Who builds a home with no closets at either entrance?  The nearest closet...is in the hallway on the main floor! A few years back...we had a gentleman who cleared our driveway after snowstorms (he has since sold the business).  He came to collect payment in the spring...and in chatting he mentioned his brother (a then "contractor") built our house!  (as well as the homes on either side of us).  My response "that is nothing to brag about".

This Seventies Split has come a long way since 1973!  Have an awesome weekend!  And thanks so much for stopping by!!

Catching Up

I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Thanksgiving!  The weather has been amazing...we took our little pumpkin apple picking!  She was such a huge help putting them in the basket...we've already enjoyed one batch of delicious apple & raspberry applesauce.  We also enjoyed a stop off at a park for a swing...then off to supper at her favourite place....McDonalds!

Before wrapping up our afternoon, we took a stroll along the boardwalk on the beautiful waterfront...and enjoyed some swings at a local park..

And who doesn't love Halloween nails?  I'm loving mine...definately wearing the fall vibes...

I popped into Home Sense the other day...I'm still crushing on all the spooktacular decor pieces...like this adorable tea pot!!

It was difficult not to load up on a few more pieces...crushing big time of this adorable haunted house cookie jar...

If I didn't have an assortment of Hallowe'en mugs...these two would have been in my cart..

Same with our collection of doxie mugs...although this one we don't have in our assortment...adorable nonetheless....

And.......Christmas decor is starting to appear.  I'm not ready to let go of fall for a few weeks yet...but couldn't help sneak in a couple pics of decor pieces.  These cushions were only $20 at a local grocery store (which also has a home decor section).  If home decor stores can sell groceries...turn about is fair play...

As the price reflects, these are fibre filled...not down...but a reasonable alternative price wise.  I guess, if you are handy at sewing...you could remove the covers & fill with a down pillow insert....

Now these red truck napkin rings are adorable...and look amazing when paired with festive place mats.  They also had matching napkins...

Since the weather has been so co-operative we've been able to get out & about walking Liesel.  The clasp on one of her harnesses let go..I picked up this one at Global Pets.  It's very heavy duty....not the least bit "girly"..(but then neither is she)...and it's very durable...

It's adjustable in the shoulder area and around the mid section...it will work when colder weather arrives & she requires sweaters or hoodies to keep warm..and the harness will adjust to fit over them...

And it's flu shot time!  I plan to stop in at our pharmacy near by & get mine...and Mr. Seventies will do the same when he has some spare time this week.

Thanks so much for stopping by...wishing you an awesome day!!  Stay safe & be kind to one another.
