Friday Ramblings.....

Gosh, I can't believe it's Friday already!  This January has been the fastest one I can ever remember...not complaining!  That little rodent will be called into service in a couple of days...in my opinion...doesn't matter what the little bugger sees....we are going to get a lot more than six more weeks of winter!  Just sayin'....

It's not hard to believe with all my wardrobe additions...it was time for a closet purge.  And...in my defence...Mr. Seventies has taken over one closet...so I am now down to two closets.  (we thought we had a mouse in the attic....like weeks and weeks ago....and have never caught anything in the traps).  But he still needs "access" to the attic hatch....which happens to be in the guest bedroom closet.  Our clothes (well...ok...mostly mine) needed to be dispersed...and I have yet to gain that essential real estate back!  He assures me I will....time will tell.

I have a large bag of clothing to drop off to the Mission Store...and three leather purses to pass on to my daughters.  And I think I can stop buying bras....counted 14 of them!  But I cannot pass them up when they come on sale!  They are super expensive...so I get a couple when they come on sale...and purge though my stash to cull any out with frayed edges, etc.  TMI?

Ok..so...I had to order this suade leather skirt...gorgeous!!  The price of the chocolate leather one I purchased earlier....has dropped again!

And this cute crop sweater....

And an order came in from Old Navy...not for me...but for my expectant little Mama!  There are no shops here that sell maternity clothes!  Can you believe that?  What do pregnant gals do for clothes?  Order on line I guess...or purchase clothes on the mainland.  Anyhow...she's growing out of her maternity leggings....I ordered her a couple of pair...a size larger and she reports they fit beautifully.  Let's hope with them, along with the rest of her maternity wardrobe fit until baby girl is born!  In February the mural will be painted on the nursery room wall!  You know I'll be posting photos!

And lastly...I found a new skin care line...and I love it!!  I have rosecea..it began when I was carrying my last daughter (hormone shifts can trigger rosacea)!  Rosacea causes redness and red flushing, sometimes little bumps on your face...loads of fun!  I've been taking a form of tetracycline for a while now...it keeps it at bay a bit.  There is no cure.  I saw a dermatologist regarding a few pre-cancerous patches on my face...(which she removed) and she prescribed a medication for my rosacea.  Didn't help it at all....and I went back to my regular medication.   So there ....a short course on rosacea...there will be a quiz later!  (jk)

I love make up and skin care products...but have to be very careful what I use.  Enter Riversol...a Canadian skin care company based in Vancouver.  I not only love their products, but the fact they are 100% cruelty free (no animal testing) and Canadian!!  (this is not a sponsored post...just sharing my discovery).  You can order samples for free....which I did and then I ordered the Redness Control Trio.  It consists of face wash, anti-redness serum and an awesome daily moisturizer!!

And it is so worth the $$.  It is not cheap or drug store brand..but when you've tried just about everything out there on the market (and some with disastrous results, I might add)....I will pay almost any amount for products that work.  My Dr loves when I try products and they make my condition so worse!  (sarcasm there).

I've been using Riversol for a few days and so far...so good.  I highly recommend their products if you suffer from skin conditions such as mine...or just want a good skin care line!

So, that's all I have for today!  Super Bowl weekend (yawn...)....potential for storm Saturday night into Sunday...but today the sun is out....Mr. Seventies and I are heading out and about...and Liesel is pretty much shack happy!

Have a great weekend!

My Newest Obsession

No it's not home decor....or clothes (well maybe clothes) ...I have discovered cold coffee!!  Starbucks and Tim Hortons have been selling iced coffees and cappuccinos for ages...but since I've never been a coffee drinker and these drinks are laced with sugars...I don't purchase them.

I stumbled upon a product at the grocery store, in the health food cooler that really piqued my interest.  I decided what the heck and purchased a bottle...since Mr. Seventies would likely drink it in the event I didn't care for it.  The dairy manager (even though this is not a dairy product per say) stated it's a very popular product and customers really enjoy it.   It comes in different flavours (pumpkin spice being one....blech)...but Mocha sounded delish to me.  It's a mocha almond coffee beverage!!  Sounds too good to be true!!

I was looking for a specific drinking mug....and this glass mason jar mug....with a straw was exactly what I was needing!!

I put in some ice cubes, filled the mug about 3/4 full....and gave it a taste test!!  Yup...my newest obsession!  I luv it!  And the best part the sugar content is acceptable (for those, like me who require diabetic friendly food and drinks).  I'll limit myself to one drink per day.  I still like my tea....but prefer it hot...have never cared for iced tea.  But iced coffee....it's now my jam!!!

While I was out searching for my mug....it's bunny season in the stores....with Easter coming up...and my love of all things with floppy ears....who doesn't love a trio of them??

I'm crushing hard on these lamps....they are awesome!!  Wish I had a spot for them!!

And it appears my clothes shopping continues....when winter clothing is marked down 70% it's pretty hard to pass up....this chunky cardigan along with the cap...too nice not to order....

A couple of cosy sweaters...always welcome during our winter months...with a "weather bomb" being on watch for this weekend.....

And no I don't need another coat...but I love this plaid one...and the reviews are amazing...so I want to at least try it....the belt is not included...which is fine...I prefer no belt...it does have buttons for closure...

And a cute beanie to co-ordinate with it..

Any wonder I dream of having a huge walk in closet?  Not like I need it or anything.  Unless an item doesn't fit or the fabric or style is not to my liking....I usually keep most of what I order.  There has been a couple of times when something arrives...and it is not suitable.

I'm sure most of you are aware of monthly clothing subscription boxes.  I decided to try one (located in Canada)...and my first shipment has been a no show!  The tracking number shows it was delivered January 21, 2020...but I've never received it.  I visited our local postal outlet to confirm the shipment wasn't sitting in their back room...and since the box would not fit in our community mail box...I have no idea where it was delivered.  It's gone rogue folks!

Now there is a road which runs parallel to ours....same name...with the exception of "Lower" in our address....but mail gets mixed up from time to time.  It's not usually a problem...we just write a correction (since it's usually envelopes) and slip it back into the outgoing mail.  Occasionally though, I have had a Canada Post van bring packages and leave on our door step.  But this has not happened here with this box.

The company has been awesome to deal with and has opened an investigation with Canada Post (apparently CP can track packages via GPS in delivery vehicles...so they are able to tell where and when the package was supposedly delivered on January 21st).   If that proves fruitless, the company has advised they will offer me a full refund...and I am very relieved.  To be continued...

That's all for today....temps are dropping and cold windchills in the forecast again!  Bundle up!!!

January is Winding Down!!

Usually, January crawls along at a snail's pace...but for some wonderful reason it has just flown by!  And we've been having mild temperatures and rain....our January thaw...much welcomed.

Daughter and I took in the Wayfair Truckload Sale...and we both were unimpressed...sorry to say.  The sale, scheduled for Friday was delayed until Saturday.  Now, we went with no expectations....not knowing what the sale would consist of.  Sadly, it was a few pieces of Wayfair furniture set in the middle of the small store....with odds and sods of Christmas decor spread about.  Nothing special...if anyone wants any items from Wayfair....ordering on their website is too easy.  I'm not sure about the future of this shop...it appears they cannot find their niche.   Moving on...we did a bit of thrifting, enjoyed a wonderful lunch and enjoyed the warm, sunny day.

In a few short weeks, baby girl will be making her debut!  When her Mama was a toddler, she had a favourite stuffed doll....Patooty was her name.  She was one in a line of dolls Kenner produced in the mid 1980's.   Well....look what I stumbled upon on Ebay.....(gotta love Ebay!!)...Patooty!!!

She is the exact one daughter loved beyond life!  Patooty is sold as "vintage"... but is very clean and in perfect condition!  I hope my sweet grand baby loves her as much as her Mama did!

It appears this weekend was all about baby girl....and she will be needing a diaper bag...and of course one with dachshunds is a must!  Her parents requested a backpack bag...much easier to manoeuvre....easy to slip on the back and leave hands free.  This one fits the bill...is not too girly girl and is a generous size with pockets on both sides for extra storage....

And who doesn't love bunnies?  There is a crafter here making and personalizing them, I ordered one...with the name to be put on after her arrival!

Lastly, on the baby front....a local photographer was offering an amazing deal for photo shoots for newborns between the ages of 7-14 days....for a Bump, Baby and Family fair being held here in May.  (Anna Nicole, the photographer, is wanting additional portraits for her booth at the event).  I passed the info to daughter and baby girl....will have a photo shoot done at the photographer's studio!   We've seen some of Anna Nicole's portraits and they are gorgeous....so we are very excited to get in on this amazing offer. She had two spots left when daughter signed the contract....so it was perfect we jumped in when we did!!

In other news...another local crafter (and we love to support local) hand paints signs...for the various sports fans in your life....

Mr. Seventies and my nephew are New England Patriot fans....and son-in-law a die hard Green Bay Packers fan....I ordered a sign for each of them.  They are gifts...Mr. Seventies will receive his with his Valentine stash, son-in-law has a birthday in early May and we'll take my nephew's sign with us when we visit in May or June.   These are great for their man caves....Mr. Seventies will want to put his on the pool deck wall somewhere...so it will need to have a couple of coats of clear protective sealant.   He could have a man cave...as the downstairs family room is available...all that would be required would be a t.v., but he prefers to be on the main floor.  So, the pool deck wall it will be!

And on the house front...non exciting stuff will be happening...new gutters.  While much needed....not exciting.  And if you were wondering whatever happened to plans for a new storage shed...it was shelved when Paul injured his foot last fall....and he was laid up for over a month.  Now if the shed was all they had to do, it wouldn't have been an issue....but it put their "real" jobs on hold and then late fall and winter set in.

He fully recovered and now apparently the shed is a go for this year.   If not, I am going to order one pre-built and have it delivered.  That makes them tremble at the mere mention...but the shed needs to happen this year!

Off to run some errands today...going to enjoy the mild temps while they continue! Have an awesome day!!

Wayfair Truckload Sale!!

Inspired Living, an awesome local decor store is hosting a Wayfair Truckload Sale beginning tomorrow at noon!

Looking forward to checking this out...it's a first for the store...and me!  I suspect it will be a packed event....can't wait to see what goodies will be available.  I'll try to take some photos...the store is small...and if there are too many people....it might not be possible.  Will definately be worth taking a look!

Clothing Order

I usually share clothing orders, but then don't always share what I keep or send back....so I'll share a couple here today.  So, the leopard print booties arrived....they are adorable.  The fit is true to size...
I wear a 9 and they fit perfect.  Love the heel....my days of stilettos or high heels are long behind me...these have a chunkier heel which I really like.

The boots slip on and have a cute zipper closure.
Now...these are not for anyone who has a wide foot....they are regular width which is fine for me.
I will be putting in a memory foam insole...I walk on the ball of my foot...and since these do have a heel...without a soft insole...my feet would hurt.

So these are a yes from me...

The down puffer coat is a keeper (at the lower price..).  If you remember, the price dropped by $20 after it was ordered...and since it was already on sale...a price adjustment would not be made.  When the higher priced one arrived...I sent it back...since I had reordered it at the lower price.  This jacket runs small....but fits me really well.  It's super warm...and I love that I don't have to fight with a zipper...it is snap closure...and the sherpa collar is super cute.  This jacket is lightweight, down filled...and not bulky or heavy....

And since this cute toque was also on sale...it goes well with the jacket...

A couple of things I didn't bother to show....I sent back.  A pair of black leather mitts, which I loved...but were too big....and a black  twisted headband which I thought was more of a knitted winter headband...but was very thin material and not really conducive for my winter needs!

So, this blouse is one hundred times nicer than in the photo...it is actually gorgeous!  A fitted style...which is amazing.  Obviously a strapless bra is required under neath....but it's a big yes for me!  This is a top that can be worn dressed up or dressed down in my opinion....

And this flirty, little dress had actually sold out!  Then it happened to be back in stock...and was marked down to $14.97!!  So cute...and again...the photo does not do it justice!  It's pretty and feminine...has a keyhole back.  It is a fitted style..and the length is perfect...I was a bit concerned it might be too short....but it falls just above the knee.  Super cute for summer with a pair of sandals!   And it fits beautifully....so yes to the dress!

So that's a bit of my clothing haul that I kept...and am very happy with.  The cold temps are forecast to break today...looking forward to it not being so cold.  Have plans to go thrifting with a friend...so will share any bargains I find!

Chow for now!!

9 Mondays Til Spring!!

Well...not really.  Spring is just a day on the calendar here....we've had snow storms in May in previous years!  And speaking of snow...I think it either flurried or snowed most of last week....with some high winds thrown in enough to be called storms.

I'm repurposing my Christmas wreath and added a small sunflower filled bird feeder and suet cake for our feathered friends.  Mr. Seventies hung it on the pool deck wall...so I can watch from the kitchen window and see if any birds come to visit.  This is the north side of the house...a difficult spot to find a sheltered spot for feeders.....

We have a couple of feeders and suet balls hanging in the thick Yew tree at the front of the house....which is a perfect spot for birds and squirrels to hang out during storms....providing protection from the elements.  We can see movement in the tree and lots of activity most days....

Warm summer pool days seem so far off when everything is covered in snow...

Yes....there is a pool under all that snow....

I needed to pick up a replacement bulb for the light in the microwave/vent range....it requires two and one had burned out...the outdoor temp was -15 degrees Celsius according to the thermometer in the SUV when I took this photo....on my way to Home Depot...

Found just what I needed....and picked up a couple to have an extra one on hand....

Mr. Seventies is going to be painting my vanity when the weather warms up......

We won't be using Fusion paint this time...as I want a satin finish...as opposed to a matte finish.  The mirror comes off quite easily...and once the vanity is wiped down with TSP and water to remove likely years of furniture polish...he will give it a light sanding and a coat of BIN primer....(since he is using a primer...it should be used in a ventilated area...once warmer weather arrives...he can open a window).

Depending on how the drawer hardware looks once the vanity is painted, I will decide if I want to spray paint them or leave them as is.  And I want the casters removed....

This paint chip looks like a bleached out white in the photo...but it's a creamy white...Delicate Lace by Behr....just one I saw that I liked....it may not be the one I choose...but the colour will be along the same lines....

It will brighten and freshen up my vanity....which I was told is from the 1940's....

And how cute is baby girl's newest onesie?  A local gal here puts the "Made in PEI" saying on the front...I picked up the 9-12 months size.

That's about all the news from this area of our little frozen Island...very cold windchills today...Liesel and I will be snuggled up by the fire most of the day...while Mr, Seventies is working on a total house redo...indoors thankfully & our neighbour needs help this evening replacing their over the range microwave.

Stay warm everyone!!

We Are Missing Forecasted Storm

While we are escaping this winter storm....poor Newfoundland is going to get buried!  The weather channel is advising folks there to stock up on necessary items...as there will likely be power outages and most areas will be shut down.  Keeping everyone there in our thoughts and prayers to stay safe.

We are, however going to have some bitter windchills. (even frostbite warning tomorrow).    While Liesel gets bundled up for bathroom breaks....F.P.S. (we call it Frozen Paw Syndrome)  we keep a watchful eye for.  When her feet get cold...she will lift her paws and cry...so we know to scoop her up quickly.  Some dogs will wear boots...she is not one of them!

It's been a busy week of appointments here for me...so not much on the go otherwise.  The adorable onesie arrived for baby girl...(my grand daughters call me Mimi... my beloved oldest grand daughter dubbed me Mimi)....so Mimi I have always been....and will continue to be....

In between appointments....I did pop into one of my favourite stores...spotted this for Mr. Seventies and will tuck it in with his Valentine treats....

I thought these cushions were adorable...the pink one is my favourite......trying to scale back on my cushion obsession....

This cute gift bag looks a little flat, but it opens up to the cutest French Bulldog bag....I snapped it up as I plan to take some goodies to my nephew's wife (and their two Frenchies) when we visit them in the spring.

My nephew is a huge New England Patriots fan...(as is Mr. Seventies) I hope to have a couple of signs painted by a local artist...one for each fan.  Currently, she is taking names for orders, so hopefully I will be able to score a couple.

Our son-in-law is a Green Bay Packers fan...I hope to get one done for his man cave....maybe for his birthday in May!

I've been trying a couple of recipes in my new crockpot..so far so good.  Yesterday I put together a chicken and stovetop mixture....was so good!  And today I may attempt crockpot Lasagna..it almost sounds too easy..but yummy!

Have a great day and hopefully it's not storming or freezing where you are!!

Odds & Ends..and Things that Make Me Say Hmmmm....

Crazy weekend weather wise here....Saturday was really mild...lots of snow melted.  Then yesterday we had freezing rain, ice pellets and snow!  The snow has the texture of brown sugar....if you can imagine that.  I've decided to stay put at home today...our driveway is a crusty mess...and I don't need to be somewhere that important today.

So, remember the cute jacket I ordered....this one. (down and water fowl filled)  Over the weekend...it was reduced an additional $20.  Since it was already on sale...the store will not do a price adjustment. And how can a jacket that sells for $199. now be reduced in price to $30.?  And you can be assured they are still making a profit.    Hmmmm....

I reordered it at the lower sale price...and when the more expensive one arrives....I will send it back.  Returns are free shipping.  Another hmmmm....when ordering you had the option to ship to the store free....and pick it up.  They have discontinued that practice....and you now have to order $99 in merchandise to qualify for free shipping.  Talk about biting off your nose to spite your face....it means that I will definately be ordering less....moving on....

And look what arrived from the UK!!  Safe and sound...it's called a cheese dish!!

Love it!  And it looks beautiful in my cabinet....

You would not believe the great quality of my new iron!  (who gets excited about an iron, right?). Apparently, I do.  This one, from Black and Decker reminds me of the irons in the "old" days....it's a great weight...the cord is very supple and does not wind or tangle.  I don't iron that much....but when I do,  I want a great iron to work with.  This one is perfect....from Amazon btw.

And baby girl's nighties arrived....so adorable....and small!  These are 0-3 months...she will likely grow out of them pretty fast!!  I thought at first I perhaps had ordered Preemie size by mistake...but they are 0-3 months....Mama has them now to wash and add to our little one's sleep wear drawer....

Turning thoughts to summer and warmer days...I've been searching for a comfortable pair of Espadrilles....I ordered these ones...and will see how they fit and feel...these are cute with anything...capris, shorts, sun dress...

Well, it's definately not safe for me to be stuck home in a snow storm...shopping from home just works for me!

Not sure if you remember the red knitted throw I ordered...it arrived a week or so ago...it is gorgeous!  It's folded in the basket in the master bedroom...close at hand.

I'm going to stay tucked in by the fire....Mr. Seventies and Paul are working today.  Even Paul's 4 wheel drive truck had a hard time in his driveway with the compacted ice and snow.

Have a great day wherever you are today!!

Snowy Weather!!

We had a dumping of snow on the Island yesterday....20-30 cm was forecasted...I'd dare say we got a bit more.  The winds really didn't pick up until overnight...cleanup will be today.  Liesel is so short...Mr. Seventies was required to do a bit of shovelling for her.  We have an excellent guy hired to clean out the driveway.  There are dozens of individuals who have started up snow removal businesses...not with plows...but large farm tractors with huge blower attachments.

We pull the car up close to the house and he is able to blow the driveway clean right up to it....depending on the wind it either gets blown to the right or left of the drive.  He comes very early morning....and comes back 2-3 times during the day and will remove the snow the road plows push into our driveway.   Such is life....in winter....in PEI!!  When I was out with Liesel...I snapped a couple of photos....

These were taken mid morning...not much had accumulated at that time....this is the poor tree that lost a huge limb when post tropical storm Dorian blew through....

While it was blowing and snowing outside....Liesel and I stayed snuggled up close to the wood pellet stove and did some bargain shopping.  I'm finally going to give booties a try...these ones have a chunky heel which I really like (no stilettos for this old gal).....love the leopard print...and the foot soles have memory foam...I'm hoping they are comfortable.  I'll keep you posted when they arrive.

I struggle to find a jacket that isn't heavy or bulky or too warm to wear when I'm out and about...I usually end up putting my jacket in my cart.....or leaving it in the car altogether.  This one is 95% down and 5% waterfowl feathers...lightweight...and not a lot of weight...but should be warm.  And I luv, luv, luv the colour!!  And it's on sale-half price!!  Really cute sherpa lined collar too!!

And these killer jeans!  I struggle with "mid rise" jeans....I have a long torso...and these ones are high waisted...so I'm anxious to see how they fit.  Fingers crossed...I live in jeans so they gotta be comfortable...

Can I just take a minute and vent about Canada Post Super Boxes?  And how much they are a pain in the ass to use sometimes?  Like yesterday for instance...I was notified three items were delivered.  The postal driver will put them in one of four of the larger slots for parcels...then put a key to open that slot in our mail box.  So...the key was bent...I mean....really bent.  And would not fit properly to open the slot!  Mr. Seventies and Paul just happened to come along and tried to help....and the key snapped off!!  Ugh!!!  This happens more times than I can count...either the keys are old and so rusted they break....or they get bent in the cold.

I put the key in an envelope and wrote "Key Broken" to drop into the return mail slot!  I do this...because more times than not...they will see the parcels not picked up...and put the same key back in our mail box!!  Unless they are made aware there is an issue!   There are three items waiting to be retrieved....the new clothes iron, a small clothes order and the nightgowns for the new grand baby.

Oh and there is no set time for our mail delivery....I can received notification on a Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m that something has been delivered.  Or 4:49 p.m. on a Tuesday afternoon!  So prefer Courier services!

Ok...rant over.  Will have to see today if there is a new key for wherever they move my parcels to.  Not going to venture too far today....give the city and road plows time to clean up and move snow around!

Another messy system forecast for the weekend!   Gotta love winter!!  And make the best of it.
