April Winding Down

And we have green pool water!  Not much to celebrate really...other than all the snow & ice are gone...and we've been having sunny days!  That green water....will be clear in no time once we start up the pool!!

Liesel & I were out and about last week...our stash from Home Sense consisted of much needed (sarcasm) toys for her...and a few new bath & hand towels! (not for her).  She's had a small flare up of her arthritis in her front legs....so we kept her on the down low and administered pain medication for a few days....

Spotted this adorable outdoor cushion set...but the price of $45.99....was a bit much....

And the comforter replacement arrived!  After months of back and fourth...it arrived in about five days! It's currently folded up on the end of the bed...

And....I'm obsessed with this canvas (30x30)...."Moo-ving In"!  I saw it on my last visit to Inspired Living store...same day I purchased my donkey canvas.   Sadly...it sold....but there is another one on its way & it has my name on it!  There is a series of these canvases...this is "Moo-ving In IV".  You will never guess where it's going....but I will share when it arrives....

I've been having issues with a couple of my tart warmers...they don't seem to get warm enough to melt tarts!   These are burners that heat up with tarts with a small bulb....and don't appear to get hot enough.  I came across this discontinued one on Poshmark...it does not require a bulb...more of a hot plate warmer type....and it's a coffee grinder shape.  I love coffee grinders....

No bulb required!  I find these types heat much better....looking forward to its arrival....it's been a while since I've had tarts on the go!

I love the smell of Gain laundry soap...discovered these tarts on Amazon....can't wait to give them a try!  I've always been a fan of Tide.....but Wal Mart had Gain laundry soap at such a good price....I picked up a jug.  And I love the scent so much....

This week is daughter and son-in-law's birthdays!  April has been such a rough month for them with colds and flu hitting them and grand-baby pretty hard.  We've stayed away for a couple of weeks now...I plan to drop off some requested soup later today.

And last Friday....for the first time in three years....masks are no longer mandatory.  I suspect we may see a spike in infections...but hopefully most are immunized for flu, pneumonia and Covid.....

I'll be linking up with Between Naps on the Porch later today for Metamorphosis Monday

It's my favourite day of the week to catch up with other amazing bloggers.....hope you will pop over and join us!

Til next time....

New Wall Oven Installed & Spring Has Sprung!!

Mr. Seventies and our neighbour removed the old wall oven and installed the new one!!  As a reminder....this is the previous oven...after twelve years of service....

As with most things in this Seventies Split...there was a minor hiccup once the new oven was hooked up and in place.  The cabinet installer (now deceased) cut the opening crooked...so there was a small space between the top of the oven and the cabinet!

To put a piece of moulding there...would have looked....well...ridiculous!  That's where I came up with the solution of a couple of shims...slid under the front of the oven to lift it a bit to cover the crooked opening!  Worked like a charm...if I do so brag myself!

You can't see the shims....as they are behind the removable steel piece screwed in to secure the oven in place.  And the oven works beautifully!!  The men set the old oven in the back of the SUV and we dropped it off (at no charge) to a scrap metal shop...along with our old ash canister vacuum & defunct tea kettle!

This was the kitchen last evening...photos taken just as the sun was about to set....the light over the range is on....as was a tart burner....

Looking towards the back door....can't wait til it's warm enough to paint the exterior doors and shutters..

The weekend weather was gorgeous....the snow is mostly gone....and the ice in the pool is melting!  It was the perfect day to launder and hang bedding on the line!  I decided to put my lighter Matelasset set on the bed for now (haven't put away the electric blanket just yet though...)

There is a replacement comforter coming (matches the curtain panels)...I did receive free shipping and taxes and duties paid...so a little bit of a win.  Fingers crossed I have no issue with the comforter fabric again....

Mr. Seventies and I took in a local basketball over the weekend the other evening..thoroughly enjoyable.  I'm cautiously optimistic I'm beginning to feel better.   Time and bloodwork later this month will tell.

Thank you for stopping by...I hope your upcoming week is awesome!  Join me later  today when I'll be checking out some amazing blogs at Between Naps on the Porch for  Metamorphosis Monday .

Day Trip to Summerside

With the beautiful weather we've been having, we decided to load Liesel in her car seat and head to Summerside....and check out Mr. Seventie's favourite greenhouse!  It's a tad early in the season....May is usually when the greenhouses are in full swing....so we will make another trek next month!

While Mr. Seventies & Liesel checked out perennials in the green house....I browsed the beautiful giftshop!

Heart be still!  A couple of gorgeous hooked door mats....the same manufacturer as the rose rug I have in the front entry!  Oh....I was s tempted to purchase the fall one!!  But I'd want to use it longer than a month or two....so left it....I was wishing they had more selection. The other mat reminded me of the Rockies in Alberta!   I'll check them out again next month....they may have different mats in stock...

This gave both Mr. Seventies & I a chuckle....may have to get one to set on the back step....during the warmer months....our yard is full of squirrels and chipmunks....running and chittering...we enjoy watching them.  Our squirrels here are small brown ones....where Mr. Seventies and I were raised in NB....there are large gray squirrels....but none here....

Once I showed Mr. Seventies this sign....he agreed we had to have it!  (along with a 10 pound bag of seed potatoes).  Once the pool is operational....he will hang the sign on the deck wall.....

We picked up a couple of delicious sub sandwiches and cold drinks....and enjoyed Summerside harbour...just look at that blue sky....and there is very little ice left in the waters....

There is a boardwalk around the harbour....we walked along with Liesel....she had a great time doing what dogs love to do!  Then she enjoyed a cold drink and a few snacks of her own.....

And look what arrived!!!  (only a week later than anticipated).  Mr. Seventies is going to ask our neighbour for assistance doing the install....the weight of this oven is 166 pounds!  Cannot wait to have it operational....

I think I'm finally on the mend...a fourth iron infusion was completed on Good Friday.  Yesterday....I spent three hours sorting out closets, packing away winter clothes, mitts, scarves and hats....and we dropped off two huge bags and a box of clothes to the Mission store (thrift shop).  One bag was so heavy....I had to roll it up the hall and leave it for Mr. Seventies to load everything into the SUV.  I still have another closet to go....and a tote or two of summer clothes to go through.....

I'm limiting my home goods purchasing....at some point we do intend to downsize.  We call it our "exit strategy".  We'd like to have a home that is one level...with an attached garage....two bedrooms and 2-3 baths.  My set in stone criteria - a pool....that is non negotiable.  We have a couple of years before anything happens....but it is going to be happening at some point.

Drop over Between Naps on the Porch (I'm late for the party) for Metamorphosis Monday.

But will still be checking out all the amazing blog posts.  Thanks so much for hanging out with me today! Til next time....

Welcome to April!!

Touches of spring....our pretty little crocuses are blooming.... close to the side of the house...

A small cluster of daffodils are just starting to poke through....spring has officially began! While the winds are still cool (we are surrounded by water after all)....the sun has been out and the ditches are full of water with snow melting....

Precious grand baby enjoyed her birthday celebration.....her cake was a huge hit.....and delicious!

She is loving her Play Doh Ice Cream Cart.....and was a big help to Grampy assembling it...

I think this part goes here Grampy!!

First soft serve cone coming right up!!!  Two things she loves.....Play Doh and ice cream!!

We cannot believe what a little miracle she is.  Undergoing open heart surgery at the tender age of twelve weeks....to a thriving, happy, healthy little one.  We are truly blessed!!

And look who arrived....Mr. Seventies and I say we've had a canvas done to commemorate an upcoming anniversary!  I'm the pretty one on the right.....just sayin'

And the large ceramic pitcher came home with us as well!  The flowers were BOGO from Michael's....and I had a Christmas gift card to use!!   They used pink ones in the store....but I chose pretty yellow ones...in recognition of spring....

More sun in the forecast today!!  I have a final (hopefully) iron infusion later in the week...and the new wall oven hopefully arrives tomorrow!!

Thank you for spending time with me and pop over later to Between Naps in the Porch for  Metamorphosis Monday and check out all the amazing bloggers sharing some great stuff!!  I'll be there!!
