Monday Mash Up

Good morning friends!  It's currently sprinkling a bit here...supposed to clear off as the day goes on!  We've had a busy few days & today is our daughter's birthday!  Her husband has a birthday in a few days...we celebrated with them over the weekend!

We enjoyed a delicious bar-be-cue...and since daughter's favourite cake is cherry cheesecake...we thoroughly enjoyed this one!

I ordered from a local bake shop...it was probably the best cheesecake ever.....hands down!!   Her colleagues as work are hosting a luncheon & party for her & another co-worker celebrating today as well...

I mentioned a few posts back I came across another Gripstand bowl from FB Marketplace...this one was located here...but a couple of hours from us.  The amazing seller dropped it off a few days ago....I am so excited to add it to my collection!

After days of these baskets ruminating around in my head...I ordered a set!  I found them about $50 lower in price on eBay....I cannot wait for them to arrive!   Are you like that too?   You see something & you just can't get it out of your mind?  Well...that's me.   The heart wants what the heart wants!  I'll share when they arrive....

We had grand daughter for an afternoon...and had so much fun with her!  We spent some time feeding ducks in a local pond, went for ice cream, enjoyed a visit to a huge park down town on the waterfront....finishing up our play date...dining at her favourite restaurant..."the Donalds".... AKA McDonalds!

The weather was absolutely gorgeous....finding a parking spot proved a challenge...but we finally were able to find one....just look at that beautiful harbour view....

One of our favourite garden centres opened...Mr. Seventies wanted to check out the stock...see if there was anything he might "need"....

While he went to checkout the plants & shrubs....I made my way to the gift shop...and was not disappointed!  I have such a weakness for garden gnomes....

A couple of adorable dachshund planters!  Or at least they resemble dachshunds to me....

There was a great supply of planters on hand....these mushroom ones are gorgeous....could see them sitting on a windowsill....

If this trike had been a bit larger....I would have snagged it & placed a faux plant in the cart....(real plants have a short life span with me..)

This throw is gorgeous....and so soft!  I'm crushing hard on the bumble bees too!

These salt & pepper shakers are hysterical!  And such likeness to the Royals...

When I finished browsing I ventured into the greenhouse...we sat & enjoyed an ice cream and the beautiful fountain....you can see the hanging baskets full of annuals...in a few short weeks they will be brimming over with flowers....there were numerous perennials & annuals being purchased...

We were able to spot five or six fish in the pond....you can see a few in this photo....

If weather co-operates we plan to motor to Summerside & check out Mr. Seventies favourite greenhouse there....and hope to have grand daughter tag along...

Join me today at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday....always a fun time sharing with other bloggers....

And tomorrow I'm hanging out with Joanne at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays & at https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Drop on over and show some amazing bloggers a bit of love!

Things are starting to bud & poke through the soil!  The daffodils & hyacinth are blooming....and we're going to have an abundance of tulips!  Mr. Seventies has the vegetable garden tilled....I suspect he will plant some onions this week...even if we have frost overnight....it won't hurt them...

Have an amazing day & hope to see you next time....

Woman's Prerogative

Is to change her mind, right?   After going back & forth in my head....I decided to not to go back to short hair!

Not sure what I was thinking....maybe I wasn't...but for now...I'll keep my hair as is....even though it requires maintenance.  I'm blessed with thick hair, numerous cow licks...and a double crown.  Always fun to work with such a difficult head....but such is life....

I did get out for a bit of thrifting...I scored a couple of items at the first shop...this adorable plate for use at Halloween, a Jamie Oliver pitcher...daughter has previously mentioned she needed a medium size vase...so that is for her...

At the second shop...I saw this piece...would make a great caddy to house cooking utensils, wooden spoons or rolling pins....

A great side covered casserole dish...for a small family or empty nesters....love the pretty floral motif,,,,

A couple more open dishes...these are Corning Ware I believe...prices were great....

I'm crushing on this larger piece... perfect for fall....it is quite heavy...loving the colours...

I have no idea if this is Jadeite...or even how you tell if it is authentic....there are no markings on the bottom...but not all Jadeite is marked.  I love the colour tho...

I didn't really see to much that caught my eye out thrifting....but that is how it goes.  Somedays you find some things....other days you don't....

I did score another authentic Gripstand bowl on FB Marketplace!  This one is located here...but a couple hours from me.  The seller is going to drop it off during a visit my way.   That's two bowls I've found in the last couple of weeks!  It's good to be me...

I ordered a couple of table runners from Temu...this one & another fall themed one (with gnomes ....can't beat the low prices & they are decent quality....

I am swooning over these baskets!!  They are available on Amazon in a set of two...but at a ridiculous high price of $200+!   They are a little lower priced on eBay...but not much....I am so tempted...

The cute footwear I ordered from Wal Mart's website have arrived!  They are adorable...and while not exceptional quality....they are perfect for slipping on to take Liesel out, in the SUV....anywhere I'm not required to do a lot of walking.  They are super comfortable....velcro closure...

That's about all I got for today!!  Hoping you all have an awesome weekend!   Til next time....

Weekend Happenings

Mondays seem to roll around quickly, don't they?  I tagged along with daughter since she was chosen for the Fashion Day Makeover contest I mentioned in my last post.  She was one of four lucky winners...out of 150 submitted nominations!  Upon arrival at the mall, we shopped at Eclipse, a ladies fashion shop...daughter had filled out a fashion survey prior to the day & Eclipse was chosen as a good fit for her casual, clothing style!  She chose a great pair of jeans, three tops & a knee length 3/4 sleeve cover-up.  Perfect for a busy, on-the-go Mom!

The next shop we visited was a shoe store...where she chose a comfortable pair of leather sneakers...in a pretty pale pink colour.  Perfect to complete her outfit!

Then she was off for hair styling & make up!  Once completed...we were treated to a delicious lunch at Redwater Rustic Grille!  My first visit...and it did not disappoint!  Mr. Seventies & I will be dining there in the future!

After lunch...there was a photography session - each winner had numerous photos taken...and will receive the results in the upcoming days.  Daughter also did a quick interview with the sponsor radio station - she did amazing...praising the experience & the fun she was having!

While she was in hair & make up...I took the opportunity to peruse a shop in the mall...Luna Eclectic Emporium!

These fish mugs look very familiar..I have a set of three from another shop...

The above dachshund planter caught my eye....there is such a wide variety of items in this shop!

A full corner devoted to children's items!  I was short on time...and with 2200 square feet of jammed packed shopping space...I need to do a second visit...

Oh...the clothes & footwear choices!  I barely touched on the inventory available...I am crushing on this amazing footwear....known as Asportuguesas...

I'm crushing on the boots - Softinos they are called.  Soft as butter and so comfy.....

A huge selection of leather handbags, totes & small back packs!  I would have a hard time choosing only one!

And the clothing...I came across so many beautiful pieces...this sweater being just one ....available online on their website https://papillon.ca/. Since I was in a time crunch...I wasn't able to browse long...or try anything on...

Most, if not all the clothing was on sale or marked down!  Definitely worth another visit!  We had a wonderful, full day at the event & so pleased I nominated daughter...and that she was chosen!

A couple of updates on clothing pieces I had previously shared...remember the tiered skirt I ordered from Wal Mart's website?  It was so very unsuitable!  Firstly, it was too small...and secondly...there were slits on either sides I overlooked that detail when ordering...slits which went way too far up the thighs!!  Also the fabric was very flimsy...and poorly made...

After I returned of the first one - I ordered this gorgeous skirt,  in this colour from Amazon!  No slits...but did I mention it has pockets!!

The quality of this tank style knit top....is amazing!  Unfortunately, it was too loose & baggy under the arms....

As beautiful as the olive green colour is.....I re-ordered it in a smaller size in a soft pink....to wear with the skirt....or I can pair it with just about any bottoms...

Today's forecast is sun with a chance of showers....or flurries!  Not sure if we will see either...especially with temperatures being on the + side....

I'm thinking strongly of having my hair cut short...something along one of these colour as well.  I've had short hair many times in the past....and enjoy the ease of care it requires.  My hair is extremely thick so when it gets long...it feels heavy...and I'm not a fan of spending a great deal of time styling my hair.

I like the simplicity of a wash & go style!   My hair stylist is always on board for changes....since I have an appointment this week...I'll need to make a decision before then!!  It's just hair...it will grow back, right?  Thoughts?  The second photo is my favourite...

We plan to venture to a greenhouse in Summerside in the not too distant future....usually it's May before they open for the season...but there are a couple open for business already...and Mr. Seventies is itching to visit!  He turned the soil in the garden manually....and in the next week or two...will bring the garden tiller from the storage shed....and get the soil ready for this year's planting season.  He usually doesn't plant anything until after the first week of June....when the chance for frost is not such a threat...

Join me later today at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday and again tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays and https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday....

I plan a visit to the thrift stores this week....having been sent a coupon to use at one...it's shaping up to be a busy week!

Til next time....

Few More Finds

It's great when the weather is nice...and you are able to get out and about!  We've been able to pop the fold up lawn chairs on the deck & enjoy the sun & fresh air!

A few weeks back I nominated my daughter in a local Fashion City Day Makeover contest...(it slipped my mind to clue her in..).  The contest gave an opportunity to nominate a deserving woman for a make over...consisting of a clothes shopping session with a stylist & an outfit of daughter's choice to keep, hair & make-up session at an exclusive salon....and a photo session with a local photographer....as well as a wonderful gift bag of treasures!

My girl, with all the challenges & health concerns & issues with their little one, since she & her husband welcomed  their baby girl  (just as Covid reared its head)....no one deserves to be pampered more!  As a full time working Mom....(who seldom pampers herself)...she gives 100% to everyone else....and so deserving of a bit of pampering!

So I'm excited to share....she is one of four lucky winners!!  She was very surprised when she received the call!  (since I did forget to advise I nominated her....).  The contest was a collaboration between a local radio station...and a car dealership (only dealership here owned by a local woman).

I was honoured to nominate her...and share a bit of her story..... coping with a very sick newborn, feeding tubes, running on adrenaline &  little sleep...numerous trips to hospitals...the first few months following her birth... (at 12 weeks of age she required an eight hour open heart surgery).   Thrilled to share she is now a healthy, thriving little gal!   Strong...like her Mom!   Daughter has asked I join her for her makeover...can't wait!

I came across this adorable guy on a venture to Home Sense!  If you've been here a while, you may remember we visited my nephew & wife in Nova Scotia in November....they are paw-rents to two Frenchies!  This guy will be perfect for placement outdoors....perhaps by their front door.  Liesel is not a fan...

I found this Christmas gnome Scentsy warmer...brand new on FB Marketplace!  Originally sold for $66...I snagged him for $10...still in the box.  Tucked him away for now....

I'm usually hard core Egyptian cotton sheets for the bed....but thought I'd give these 100% cotton sateen sheets (Amazon) a try!  I love them!  They are the softest sheets ever with a 400 thread count & washed & dried perfectly...I'm glad I gave them a try in this soft pink colour....

I picked up a few more items for summer wear...I've been eyeing this sweater for weeks now...it had previously sold out.  When they were able to bring a few more in....I snagged it!   Since warmer weather will be coming....I chose a pair of denim Bermuda shorts at another shop....

This pretty turtleneck was on clearance...I love the detail on the sleeves...a great fall & winter piece...

I tried this cute dress on in the shop...I hesitated at first...as it is short sleeve & I'm self conscious about my upper arms...(and legs).   Losing weight has been awesome...but toning is another matter!  Of course...aging doesn't help.   A couple of ladies shopping at the same time...assured me it looked great on....and not to worry about my arms...but to purchase what I like...

So with that boost in my confidence....it came home with me!  I could always pop on a cover up...the fabric is so soft and comfortable!

And that is about it from my little corner of the globe!  Numerous errands to run today....and a walk scheduled with Liesel...who is doing better...tummy-wise.  I chose for the time being, not to have the ultra sound done on her tummy....this issue did not suddenly crop up...but has been ongoing for years.    I prefer to give the prescribed medication & new diet a chance...and it is definitely working.  The vomiting has decreased immensely....and her appetite is so much better!  Should that change...then we will forge ahead with the ultrasound.  So all good news...

Until next time....
