In Need of Orthopedic Insoles?

I'm sharing today in case anyone, like me....is in need or uses orthotics in their footwear.  (this is not a sponsored post...).  When I discover a great product...I like to share.

I suffer with metatarsal joint pain in my feet...(pain & soreness on the balls of the feet).  Walking on them...causes such pain.  I've found relief wearing orthotics in my footwear...my first pair I obtained from a podiatrist clinic.  The podiatry world has been shaken up here...so obtaining new orthotics has been challenging for the last little while.  But that's another story...for another day....

I recently purchased a pair from a Canadian company online https://yoursole.com/ca and am so happy with their insoles.  So much so, I've ordered an additional pair.  I like having more than one set, so I don't have to switch  them out when I change footwear.   They fit perfect in shoes, sneakers & boots with ease!

There are pads for various foot conditions....I'm able to purchase insoles with metatarsal pads right in the insoles...and they give such relief!  They sell various thicknesses and widths of insoles, as well.  And some are currently on sale!!

These are the two sets I ordered...the first ones I'm currently using....the second pair are on order...

Another bonus ....is the cost!  From the podiatrist office, about two years ago....the price of the my orthotics was well over $300!  On-line these are much more reasonably priced...and for my second pair I was sent a discount of $25 to use for future purchases....plus an additional $8 in loyalty points!  Yes, thank you!

If you are in need of orthotics...I cannot recommend highly enough to check out their website!  Shipping is free (in Canada)....and that's a win-win for me!!

I'm considering ordering the Jasper Chukka winter footwear on their site.....complete with recycled cork midsoles! They currently come in three colours....I'm loving these black ones!  I'll be able to use a 15% discount in March....a birthday bonus!

I hope this helps anyone who needs or uses insoles in their footwear will check out this amazing site!  Tell them I sent you!!

Have an awesome weekend & I'll see you next month!

Some New Additions

Here we are....close to kicking February to the curb!  Even with the miserable weather & cold temperatures....the month has flown by!

I dropped off a large bag of clothes to goodwill...all too big & baggy....some I didn't even get a chance to wear.  So, of course I've been adding a lot of new pieces...these items I ordered from Hudson's online Boutique, (which is closing it's doors)...great time to pick up some new items...crushing on this sweater I ordered......

This one is a little wild.... the colours are gorgeous....and I'm a kid from the 70's....bit reminiscent of my youth maybe....

I picked up this leather bag...and am finding it very roomy to store my wallet, cell phone, hand warmers, keys & whatever else I need to bring along....it's bit enough without being too big...and I prefer a long strap so I can hang it on my shoulder...

I picked up a few pieces for summer....(daughter wants to do a bit of shopping on the weekend...she has a number of gift cards to use)I'm always up for that!!  This adorable skort & matching top are so comfortable & the softest fabric...the top shows a little variation in colour....but they are a matching set....the prettiest coral-pink shade...

These sweatpants (made with the same beautiful, soft fabric)....came with a matching top as well....but I just picked up the pants...

I couldn't resist this pretty cardigan....it is available in blue as well... I love the little pops of coral...and the absolute best part?  No hood!!

I detest hoods....and how they put one on just about everything!  I've never wear a hood....and will purposely leave an item in the shop if it has a hood....no matter how much I like the piece!  Anyone else have an aversion to hoods??  Hoods are for children in my opinion....

You have to use a bit of imagination with these leather sandals....I currently have them in yellow, but wasn't able to find a photo......they might be discontinued or sold out.

No matter....they are my go to sandals in the summer....however I'm not a fan of white soles (not shown in the photo)...but mine have white soles.  They get grungy & dirty with wear...and I was always needing to scrub them clean!

Tired of doing that....I dropped them off at a local shoe repair shop.....to have the white soles removed & replaced with brown ones!  This can be done with most footwear....(can you tell my grandfather owned a shoe repair business when I was growing up?).

These are the German made sandals I'm referring to...super comfortable & well worth investing in new soles.  Many years of wear left in mine.  I gotta admit...I'm a bit obsessed with the navy ones though.....

Looking forward to new walking sneakers....these ones I'm hoping will be great!  The reviews are awesome....I've been advised after my knee replacement there will be physical therapy & walking to get me up & moving again....these should come in handy....

I already have these in the Chestnut colour....but couldn't resist getting another pair in red!  So comfortable & warm....the only downside is when it's slushy & wet outside...I don't want water or salt stains to ruin them....or get them wet....

And just like last time....them men's sizes were cheaper than the women's!  Go figure....

And lastly....a couple of pairs of denims from Halara.  The overalls I had ordered in a size large... were much too baggy.  I reordered them in a size medium...along with these jeans...wide leg pull ons...(I had these in large...and like the overalls found them too baggy)....trying a size medium in them now....

As well as a pair of the casual flare jeans...the stretch & comfort of these jeans is second to none!!

And lastly, I've ventured into the world of Temu!  Just a couple of pieces I think I can get away with quality wise...a long sleeve tee....who doesn't love a fat cat??

And a summer jumper....with a t-shirt underneath....I think it could work....but that is as brave as I got...I'll let you know when the pieces arrive....

Now....if I could fast forward to winter being over....I'm so ready for spring & summer!  It has been great the last few days to be able to take Liesel for short walks.  We pick an area that isn't coated with a bazillion buckets of road salt....and is dry enough to venture about....

The last couple of days her tummy woes have returned....breaks my heart that she is getting older & having health issues....I'm not ready for the senior years.  I cannot believe she will turn eleven in July....

She did enjoy a short car ride and stroll about a housing development a few times.....we've had some milder temps & sun!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today & hanging out with me.  Join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday....

Three Day Snow Storm!!

Remember in my last post... I wrote the snowstorm was a no show?   I was wrong.  It arrived late for the party...but arrived none the less!

And didn't know when to leave!! High winds & blowing snow shut down most of the Island....for three days!!   It was one of those storms that didn't come all at once...but was spread over an extended period of time wreaking havoc on businesses, schools, and little wiener dogs who hate wind!  Mix that in with ice pellets & freezing rain....it made for a good old fashion blast of winter.  We had very little snow before it hit...but our power remained on....

Some areas around the house were left with huge mounds of the white stuff....due to the winds there was a bit of drifting....

I'm okay with snow in the pool....less water to add in May!!

Walkway...turn right to enter through the back door...

Our neighbour used his snowblower to clear out paths for Liesel and their dog Shelby!  Liesel loves her "run"....and she & Shelby's Dad have been best buddies for years!  He always makes a big fuss over her...she can't wait to get a "scruffing" when she sees him....

The guy we've had blowing snow out our driveway for years, still does an amazing job....you can see the snow blown here...to the left of the drive.  (it depends on the way the wind is blowing).  They use farm tractors with blowers attached....most can't keep up with the little blowers sold in stores...especially if wind drifts snow back in....

The front of the house was spared...it all depends on which way the wind is blowing it in....Monday morning Mr. Seventies could barely push the back door open, as snow had piled against it....

And see that chubby Yew tree on the left?  It's disappearing in the spring!  There is no way to trim it up so that it looks good....and it is covering the large window in the family room!  Whoever planted it....many years ago....planted it too close to the house....and in a poor location.   Of all the trees Hurricane Fiona could have taken....this was one she left!

Thankfully, we are out of the "deep freeze"....bitter windchills have given way to seasonal temps!  We've had weeks of bitter cold.....and I'm over it!  Thankful February is a short month!!

Thanks so much for hanging out with me today....I hope your weather is great wherever you are!!

Til next time....

Everything Is Just Ducky!

Today is a holiday here....Islander Day!  Everything is closed...and a storm forecasted for last night & today...didn't materialize.  There was snow, freezing rain & high winds expected....we received little snow...a bit of ice pellets & rain...and the winds are due to arrive later today.

I'm not complaining.... there's warnings of potential power outages....ugh.  The winds, just since I started this post, have begun to pick up!!  And snow flurries are flying around again....

In other news....the ducks have arrived!!  I'll admit, they are adorable....but a tad overpriced...staring out at $35 going up to near $60!   Does that seem a tad high to you?

They are available in various sizes & heights....and each one carries a name tag!!  Some wearing rain gear...or rain hats & boots....or helmets....and some are nekkid!!

I did not purchase one...although the quality is amazing!  They are available on Amazon....I'm not certain if the workmanship is the same though....I may break down & get one.....likelyone with a hat & floral rain boots!!

While there, I took a few minutes to browse around....they are getting in spring & summer decor...gorgeous canvases....this one is swoon-worthy....and huge.  I prefer canvas paintings to be framed...but that is just me....

This one....had me at first tweet!  I love birds....and we have an abundance of chickadees at our feeders daily!  I do know we have cardinals here now....and it would be awesome if one or more would pay us a visit!!  I wish I had room for this one....Mr. Seventies made the suggestion to take down my antiques metal sign (to the right of my dish cabinet) ....and this could fit there....need to ponder that idea .....,,

This one is screaming summer to me!  It was a great size & I can see this in a cottage....again framed would be nice....

Does this one look a bit familiar?

Let me jog your memory....I'm still obsessed with this canvas.... happy I purchased it when I did....

The coastal & beachy decor has made its arrival.....some love it.  Having grown up with a family cottage you'd think I would as well....and maybe if we had a cottage I would enjoy it more   I am not a beach person....not a fan of salt water...having spent my childhood swimming in fresh water lakes & rivers....or pools...

A great assortment of mugs arrived!!  Of course, these ones are my favourite....

One may have found its way into Mr. Seventies Valentine's gift bag......

Speaking of Valentines Day....I hope yours was lovely!  Mr. Seventies gifted me a gift card to Home Sense...chocolate and this card!  (he must have been a rotten kid......just sayin')....

These mugs were tempting as well....I showed restraint... having an abundance of them....I couldn't agree more with the second mug though....

February is Heart Month - this t-shirt arrived & I'll wear it with honour!  A number of years ago during the "Red Dress " campaign (geared towards educating women in heart health).... red dress lapel pins were sold...

Mr. Seventies purchased a pin for me (way back in 2009) during that campaign....in support of the Heart & Stroke association.  This is the pin....

Liesel is just about fully recovered....while we still have the x-pen set up...we leave the door unlatched & she goes in & out on her own.  She's content in the pen, snuggled up in blankets in front of the pellet stove.  Today is the first day we did not administer pain medication....we will continue to watch her closely...

And since it's Monday....please join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday....

And tomorrow with Joanne at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday and Marty at  https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday....

Thanks for hanging out with me today...I'm hopeful we don't lose our power,..the winds have really picked up....

Til next time....

So....This Happened

We are on day #3 of "pen" rest....a hard reminder how things can change in a moment!  Liesel placed her front paws on the sofa...and as I was reaching to lift her up, she suddenly began yelping, crying & wobbling on her back legs....

Knowing this breed like we do & having back issues & surgery with our previous dachshunds (and grand-dog)....we feared it could be a potential disc rupture....dachshunds are prone to back problems....

Within 15-20 minutes we were at our vet clinic where Liesel received a thorough exam & it's looking like it is not a back issue.....possibly both knees in her back legs....arthritis or luxating patella(s) (kneecaps move out of place)....

For the time being she's receiving pain medications, on rest and no exercise for minimum two weeks....good news is she is eating really well!  We plan to switch her to.a reduced calorie kibble (same food she is currently eating...just lower calorie)....since her activity level decreases with the cold weather....and as she ages....(cannot believe she will be 11 years old in July)....

Another cold day here....with a snow storm coming tomorrow!   Beginning mid-day and over night with about 15-20 cm of snow mixed with ice pellets and 70 km/hr winds!   Currently there is a "special weather statement" issued for our location....

With the impending storm....plans to dine with friends for Valentines....has been moved to this evening.  Liesel will be fine, snuggled up while we go out for a couple of hours.

Doubtful I'll be out & about the next few days (another possible weather system forecast for Sunday)......I had hoped to visit to Inspired Living....and Home Sense....will need to play it by ear...

Please keep our girl in your thoughts & prayers....

Until next time....
