New Canvas Arrived!!

I am obsessed!  It's even more awesome than in photos...and can be ordered framed or unframed...I chose the 20 x 24 size.....(it's available in various sizes) ......

I'm loving it so much so....that I ordered a second one.....(I plan to leave them hung year round).....with this one to be placed on the right side of the family room window..  I chose the same size & black frame....

Mr. Seventies spent a couple of days dismantling & rebuilding the pool deck steps....they were in need of replacement...

It's still in its ugly stage & the board appearing to prop up the railing was temporary. He won't stain everything until next year....(since the wood is pressure treated)....they are very sturdy & secure....

Since the patio cushions I ordered never arrived....(I'll try again next year)....I took advantage of the great weather, removed the current covers & laundered them.....

Other than being a bit flat there is nothing wrong with them....it would be nice to have a bit more padding for additional comfort....

We're still enjoying nice temperatures.....although it's getting darker earlier in the evenings....& the overnight temps are dipping lower.  Soon be time to close the pool for the year....Mr. Seventies still has the odd dip.   We've considered putting a heater on the pool.....to extend the swimming season.

It's not a priority for me.....I don't care how warm the water is if the air temperature isn't as warm!  I usually need hot, humid days to cool off....and we've had an awesome summer being able to enjoy the pool most days.  We only had a short three day cool down in July....and then we were back into hot weather.

Still no rain to speak of!  Burn ban is still in effect....so no evening fire pits.  My favourite activity is to snuggle up in a cozy sweater & enjoy a warm fire outside in the evenings.   But until we get some substantial rainfall....that won't be possible.....

Hard to believe it's the Labor Day long weekend!  School buses will be rolling next week!

Stay safe until next time.....

Guest Bedroom Reveal & Last Visit To Wicker Emporium

Mr. Seventies finished painting the ceiling & walls in the guest bedroom...I had forgotten I had ordered the Euro shams to match the quilt I purchased through Pottery Barn.  In my defence....it was ordered last April....so when it arrived I was happy!

My happiness was short lived however......they mistakenly sent me two King size shams rather than Euro shams!  I will need to wait a bit longer for the right ones to arrive....(which will be in September).....I'm loving the navy blue on the walls! (darker here as I closed the shutters)....

In the meantime, I'm using shams I have on hand....I'm loving the canvas I picked up at Inspired Living for over the bed....

\

I'm on the hunt for a small night table for the right side of the bed....I'll know it when I come across it....

I'm not certain if there are any other locations of Wicker Emporium across Canada....but our location has been sold......Prestige Home Decor has purchased it....

In its day it used to be an amazing store....I spent many a lunch hour browsing away at their then downtown location.  In later years, they moved their store....and sold more furniture pieces....(mainly from Thailand).

Since I wasn't sure when Prestige will be moving in....

I stopped in one afternoon.....only to discover Prestige has not yet taken over the space....but I took a few minutes to browse around.....

They are not having a sale or anything....so most things were not on sale or clearance....disappointing....

These faux display pieces.....almost looked real!

I think the lemonade could use a stir.....but it's acrylic!

I had a chuckle when I read this sign....but it just might be true....just sayin'.....

My little grand daughter told me of a local store she was in that had very, very scary Hallowe'en things.....so you know I had to check it out!  I can see how some pieces could scare a little one.....the wolf would rear up & howl when you walked by!!  I luv it!!

Sneak peek....after September 1st - the fall decorating will commence in My Seventies Split!!

Thanks so much for spending time with me today....Mr. Seventies is replacing a few pool deck boards today as it is forecast to be cloudy....and showers!!  (we need a good 2 day soaking not the odd sprinkle here and there)....

As much as I love summer (and I really do).....I'm ready for dark, broody skies, shorter evenings, crisper temperatures.....and fire pits!  ( we've been under a no burn order here for weeks).....

How about you?  You ready for some fall?  The "ber" months are my favourite!!

New Canvases!

Happy Thursday!!  A touch of early fall is in the air here....but temperatures are warming up again for the next days!  Anyone else ready for the "real" fall?  It can't be just me....

I found this amazing framed canvas on Etsy....and I had to have it!  I chose the 20"x28" size....with black frame....

It is due to ship next week....I've had great success in the past ordering on Etsy....so fingers crossed my luck continues!

This Christmas canvas I have in a frame....but it needs to be stretched.  I have an appointment at Michaels next week....to see what the cost would be to have them stretch & frame it...

Such an adorable little reindeer....but if it's too expensive to have Michael's do the work.....I may just leave it in the frame it is currently in....

We are hosting a family Hallowe'en meal & get together....likely we'll celebrate the weekend before Hallowe'en.   I picked up four black dinner plates at Home Sense....and ordered the following items on Amazon....crushing on these smaller plates....

These napkins and candles will be perfect....I'm on the hunt for napkin rings as well....

I thought about using flameless candles....but these ones caught my eye....pretty spooktacular!!

It's going to be a fun evening...I'm checking out some easy recipe ideas for snacks & munchies....chocolate pudding topped with crushed Oreo cookies & gummy worms will be a hit with grand daughter...

I visited Wicker Emporium last week....which has been purchased by one of my favourite shops Prestige....(they have amazing home decor & furniture).  I'm so excited they are opening up another store in this space....the transition has not taken place yet....but come back Monday & check out a few things I saw in the meantime!

Have an awesome weekend!  Til next time.....

Odds & Ends

It seems we have a break today in the hot weather....much cooler with a bit of a breeze from the north.  We still need rain....we had a shower last evening....but we are in desperate need of a good soaking....

I've asked our friend, neighbour & finish carpenter....(he keeps Mr. Seventies busy).....to add a wood mantle to our current brick mantle. Nothing fancy....no intricate millwork required....just a rustic, box type mantel that can be attached & fit over our existing brick mantle.    Something along these lines....(I pulled these off the internet).....inspiration photos...

A mantle deep enough so I can set items on it....our current brick mantle is not thick enough to hold much.   So he has an idea now of what I want....it is not a big job for him....I will need to pick a stain colour...that won't be difficult as I don't want anything dark....such as a mahogany.....

The Mud Pie ghost buckets have arrived!!  You can imagine my first thoughts when I retrieved this banged up box from the steps!!!  It had a story to tell.....

I was holding my breath.....but am happy to report both ghost buckets arrived safely!!  I'm so crushing on them....luv, luv, luv!!

I came across this adorable pumpkin tissue box cover....it's available on Amazon!  When I see items like this.....rather than order from some website I'm not familiar with.....I check Amazon!  And most times....I find it there...it's been shipped & on it's way....

An update to this Kate Spade crossbody bag I ordered on the Canadian outlet site!  It was a scam!!  From the phoney order confirmation emails.....to the so called "tracking" number from "China post".... as a reminder this was the crossbody I had ordered.....

It never arrived.  I'm relieved my bank reversed the full amount I was charged!  Just goes to show you can't believe online reviews either!!!

Lastly....the blue hydrangea  is blooming!!  We've been waiting years to see these blooms......and I couldn't resist picking a small bouquet...

A number of appointments to attend to this week...along with visiting a new to me optometrist next week!

Join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday and again tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays!

Thanks so much for visiting with me today....I so appreciate you stopping by!

Best Part Of Being Away.....Is Coming Home!!

We enjoyed a lovely weekend with extended family in Nova Scotia...attending the wedding on Saturday.  Traffic from here to Nova Scotia.....was insane!  The busiest we have ever seen it....lots of vehicles with Ontario & Quebec plates......both there and here!

On Monday, we visited a few small towns along the way to Lunenburg....Chester, Mahone Bay, and then on to Bridgeport.   We stayed in Lunenburg for one night....it is a tourist town....it was so busy we had to walk single file on the sidewalks!  And hilly....wow!  The clerk at our hotel advised in the winter....walking & driving is treacherous in the town due to ice and snow!

I was disappointed in the amount of shopping available at any of our stops!   Mostly restaurants, pubs & bars....I was expecting shops with local wares!  But very little.....one over priced clothing store in Lunenburg....another sold leather purses (from Nepal).

What I loved about Lunenburg was the very old, colourful homes!  If it wasn't so hilly (and a bum knee...still) ...I would have loved to walk about & take more photos....not the same trying to get photos from a vehicle.  Most homes, along the walk by our motel....were painted in gorgeous, vibrant colours...(right up my alley)....some had plaques advising they were private residences.....such as this one....

I love the combination of colours used....

The unique shape of this home.....and the colour....a real eye catcher.....

This is one show stopper away from the downtown core....this is what most of the homes were like....big, bold & beautiful!  Not like here....where slum lords take over majestic homes & turn them into apartments.....

Each property was colourful & wonderfully maintained!  The motel clerk advised at Christmas....everything is lit beautifully.....wouldn't that be wonderful to see? There is also a walking tour available....if it wasn't so hilly....wish we could taken it & learned the history of the town & homes....

Looking across the harbour.....the weather was very hot there as well.....but zillions of tourists milling about....just look at that blue sky!!!

As mentioned, I did very little shopping but was content to take in the sights!  I did manage to pick up some bath & shower items when we stopped in Windsor for breakfast, on our way home....

All made from natural ingredients by the owner of the shop....bath bombs, cute duck soap and "bath play dough" for grand daughter.....shower steams & a Stanley cup key chain/lip balm container for daughter here....

There was a little train station (from days gone by).....(always hold a special place in my heart)....I was born & raised in a "railroad village"......my Dad was a train engineer & I spent a great part of my life in the engine with him or at our local, very large train station.....you can read all about it here....https://mcadamstation.ca/?srsltid=AfmBOop8gTPfP0Q4H5TmZWxXj3ZkSEBg42_bcAUhJ0j1hLAysWmu0X2p

This caboose is undergoing restoration....the sign explains the details a bit....

I recognized this baggage cart....we used to sit on them in my teens....after hamburgers & fries at the station diner....

Many a railway crossing had a couple of these to warn of oncoming trains....

I wish I had more photos to share.....but mostly we enjoyed time with family....Mr. Seventies niece & husband were there from Calgary....and nephew, wife & toddler were close by!

As the title reveals.....it's good to be home!   I'm not a traveller....Mr. Seventies used to say he would take me anywhere....as long as we could be there & back.....in three days!   So true!  I'm a home body.....I love being surrounded with my things & people in my home.....and my own bed!

We are still enjoying a heat wave here.....today will be another hot one!  We are in desperate need of rain...keeping fingers crossed no fires break out.  There is a burn ban across the province....fires burning in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia currently.  With all the fallen debris from Hurricane Fiona.....we are a tinderbox waiting to happen.....

Thanks so much for spending time with me today....have an awesome weekend!

Til next time....

My Latest Visit To Inspired Living

Writing this from Nova Scotia....we are enjoying our mini vacay!  More on that further down....

I browsed around Inspired Living a few days ago.....and they've brought in more stock since I visited....this brown sectional is gorgeous!  Canadian made and the workmanship & fabric is amazing....I'm not a sectional lover but this one is awesome!   Does the donkey canvas look familiar?

These gnomes are pretty funny....

I'm crushing on these vases....so pretty....

And I considered this pretty pitcher.....but I have quite a few already.....

These hydrangeas look beautiful....but they are made from a paper material....I prefer the real touch faux flowers....

Not certain how I feel about these floor lamps....don't think I'm a huge fan....

We are still in Nova Scotia....looking forward to visiting Lunenburg & other small tourist areas today & tomorrow.

We attended the wedding on Saturday....and have spent the most of the time with other extended family, our nephew his wife & little guy.....and sweet niece & fiancĂ© from Calgary.....along with Mr. Seventies amazing brother & his wife.  We attended church with them yesterday morning....enjoyed bar-b-cues & catching up with everyone!  Our niece flies back to Calgary today...we are blessed to have these amazing family members....

We clean up pretty good, I think!  I took photos of my favourite peeps as well!!  It's wonderful to be so close to family....

I've been informed little grand daughter back home doesn't like when her Mimi is away!  The temperatures are soaring there as well ......30 C (86 F) today with humidex making it feel like 39 C! (102 F)  Daughter & family have been spending much time in the pool while we are away!!  The warm days are to continue this week...I'm luvin' it!!
