Thrifting & Shopping

Daughter and I had a great time hitting a couple of thrift shops and decor stores last week! And managed to go out for lunch afterwards!! This is going to be a long post....so hope you hang around to the end!   

One thing we both took note of was the lack of stock in the thrift shops!  Or maybe there was just nothing that struck our fancy....as we didn't purchase a great deal at them....but will share a few items that caught my eye.  I thought these little dishes were adorable....microwave safe....

And this enamel colander was super cute!   Neither of us had need for one....but agreed it would be useful....and cute....

A whole bin of decorator cushions....this one caught my eye!  I don't purchase them from thrift stores though....too afraid of bed bugs....or critters of other unknown origins...

After hitting up the thrift shops.....we stopped into Buy Rite , a discount store.  Where there is just about anything you can think of.....from treadmills to furniture to housewares!   Boxes of dishware to no end!

And as much as I loved these mugs - $79.99 was a bit!!  Even if they are Le Creuset!  This is supposedly a discount store.   Not. 

We weren't too impressed with Buy Rite....other than their Valentine items were 50% off & daughter was able to pick up adorable paper plates & napkins for grand daughter's upcoming birthday!

Next we continued on to Inspired Living!  We both love this store...it's not a huge store...space is limited...and it is crammed full to the ceiling!! The green chairs....oh I've been eyeing them use them at each end of our farmhouse table!!  Do we need them?  No?  Do we have room for them?  Probably not.   But oh....I love them!!  And I'd only need two.    *sigh*

Bunnies overload....

Beautiful cushions and decor displayed throughout the store!

Now....I was crushing hard on these!  The ceramic applies were available in pink as well...but I love the teal!  Keep an eye...they just might show up again later in the post!!

I may have to go back & get this sign!!  It was way up high....and staff were busy preparing for a rug sale...and it would have taken a bit of juggling to get it down.....I had to zoom in on it as it was!   But I think I need it..."Kitchen Closed - This Heifer Has Had It".....says it all....

And I might have to re-arrange my dish cabinet to fit in this adorable tea pot!  I'm crushing hard on it....

Next we decided to give Winners a whirl...I wanted to check out the table runners...not really wanting an Easter theme...but these are so cute!!

I did check out the candle section....and oh they smell amazing!   I use two gift cards from Bath & Body Works and just placed an order for some great smelling candles!!  Otherwise I would have been temped to grab these two!!

Okay....have you ever seen chairs like this?  The fronts look perfectly normal!

Ingenious to place handles on the backs!   Not sure I'm a fan.   They are different for certain...

Are you still with me?  I hope you are not getting bored!  Still a bit of goodness to get through!!

Look at these lovely bath towels!  I just think they are so pretty!

And carrots everywhere!!  This wreath would be adorable on the front door!!  If Easter was a longer season...I'd be tempted to decorate more....

While browsing for a table runner....I came across these place mats..and they immediately went into my cart!  Change of plans!!

As did this gorgeous, unusual cushion!  I took some teasing from Mr. Seventies...and he thought we were getting "low" on decorator cushions!  But when you have gift cards and you see things you fall for....they tend to end up coming home....

At the time....I forgot I needed a lamp for the small bedroom....and left without this beauty!  I hope it's still there when I go back....it's coming home with me for sure!!

And these unique candles had such amazing scents!  Loved them!!

My purchases included the place mats which look awesome in the kitchen....I'm on the hunt for a new centre piece....

The gorgeous cushion for our buffalo plaid chair....

And....I couldn't resist the wooden heart shaped bowl and ceramic applies!!  

If you're still with me....thanks so much for hanging out with me today!  It feels like forever since I've been able to get out and about....I am feeling better.  Not 100%...we are sticking pretty close to home these days.   While people are going to various southern, warmer destinations...that isn't in the cards for us.....and we're okay with that.

Good Intentions!!

I had every intention of doing some thrifting...and hitting up a couple of rarely visited stores!  And....our vehicle wouldn't start!!  Is there anything more annoying than having your plans interrupted?  To back track a couple of weeks....we had a brutally cold weekend....and our vehicle battery was dead!  

After a boost, from our awesome neighbour...we've been running smoothly ever since.  Until yesterday.  Hit the push start for the engine....nothing.  Ugh!!!!!!  Sometimes, once a car battery has been drained...it's time for replacement....

The 2023 Canada Winter Games are being held here....so there is an abundance of traffic and people around....and the schools have closed....so the school buses can be used to transport the athletes around to their various events.  Which means....our son-in-law (who works in the school system) has time off work! And generously offered to boost our vehicle to get it started!

Today....a new battery will be installed...and fingers crossed...the problem will be solved.  But there went my plans to thrift shop!

All is not lost....as daughter (who has taken a few days vacation) and I plan to hit some shops tomorrow!!  And lucky you guys....will get to come along!!  I can tell you are as excited as I am.

New Wardrobe Pieces

It appears old man winter is rearing his ugly head today....we have a snowfall warning in effect for the next twenty four hours....and ice pellets.   So far, they are not predicting high winds...so there is that.... 

I placed an order a few weeks ago for a couple of cozy, warm sweaters...I love the bright, cheerful colours...

Hard to pick a favourite as they both fit perfectly and are cuddly soft....and toasty warm....

I can always use a pretty scarf and knitted cap...and the colours co-ordinate so well with my new sweaters...

The beanie cap is just the right thickness for warmth....I've worn it 2-3 times and it keeps my ear covered and head warm!

After Christmas, I ordered a leather back pack from Fossil....they were having an amazing sale....and I do love a back pack/bag...and this one is gorgeous....

It's a little larger than I like....I don't carry much when I'm out & about....but it is working out fine for me...

And how about this gorgeous bouquet of tulips!!!  To clarify..they are faux tulips from Amazon...but look and feel just like real tulips!!  It will be a few months before we see any up in our gardens...so in the meantime....I'll enjoy these...there is about thirty so it makes a full display.....

Today will be a "day in camp" until this storm passes through....I'll catch up on Season Two of Carnival Row!!

Hello Friends!!

It feels so good to be back and feeling up to blogging again!  Seems like I've been sick forever....but I'm on the mend....and finally able to get back to living life!

We enjoyed an evening out with Mr. Seventies former co-workers and friends...some are still working & a few...like himself have retired.  A great evening spent at a local pub downtown...excellent conversation, drink and food!

I took an opportunity and enjoyed an outing in the stores the other day, as well!  First time in weeks since I have been out & about!  I brought you guys along with me....so let's have a peek at a few great items I saw!!  Not a fan of the chair....but I'm crushing hard on the cushion!!

How adorable is this little egg wreath?  

And ya'll know how I feel about bunnies!!  Resisted a few of them on this outing!  Like this adorable little guy!!

And gorgeous cushions to no end!   With bunnies no less!!

This one almost came home with me.....almost....

Had to resist an awesome smelling bunny candle and dish towel!!

The glasses kill me!!  A-d-o-r-a-b-l-e or what??

Yah....Alexa...if only it were that easy!!

Ohhhh....I'm loving all these wooden beads!  I read where they were "on the way out" as home decor...but I don't much follow any trends!  If I love it...that's all that matters.  My home will not be featured in any magazines...

Not a doxie in sight...but this cushion is just precious!

There was, however this cutie!   I have enough stuffed doxies and Liesel does not need another toy to mangle....

I stopped into Michael's briefly....and they were having a BOGO sale on!  I'm thinking I might like this sign for the shelf in the main bath....

And lastly...and adorable bunny pillow!  Oh it is so cute...and soft...and just the right size for Liesel to think it's a toy and obsess over it!  So, I left it where I found it...

It felt so awesome to be out...and I was able to join Mr. Seventies and Liesel on a walk around the neighbourhood...I have missed walking so much!  The sidewalks are currently clear...doubtful that will last long....I'm sure there is much more nasty weather to come our way.  We have little snow...but endured a few long hours of freezing drizzle and ice pellets a few days ago.  But it's better than having snow storms every second day!!
