Still A Work In Progress

Weeks ago Mr. Seventies painted our master/primary bedroom!  Here's a sneak peek...and I do love the colour...(it's much prettier than this photo captures)...

But that is where I've been stuck for a number of weeks....until I came across this beautiful set on Anthrolopologie's website....

I'm smitten with this set....and quickly ordered it with the matching shams!  There is enough pink/dusty rose that I can pull it off...hopefully.  It has a "summery" feel to it...but that might not be a bad thing after the holidays.  It won't ship until later this week... it is been on back order til then.....I hope you'll stay tuned...

It will give me time to find bedside table lamps.....I cannot tell you how much I dislike the two I had previously purchased!  Talk about buyer's remorse (I think they call it)!  To jog your memory.....these are the ones I had purchased through Amazon...

Firstly....they are not tall enough to be suitable....our four poster bed is very high....taller lamps are needed. And whoever thought the ports in the bases for charging phones & laptops was a great idea...was wrong!  They are just an ugly, added "feature"....features we never use!  They might be great for some who charge this way....but I am not a fan!  Just give me tall, regular lamps....pretty ones please!

I have scoured every store locally for ones that might work.....to no avail!  I'll keep searching but will likely need to order them on-line....

The struggle is real....

Daughter plans to re-do her main bath...since she is replacing her mirror....I may relieve her of her current to hang it in our main bath.  While it's plain....it is larger than the one we have now.....definately builder grade...

We spent a wonderful afternoon with daughter & family...got to bake some cookies with grand daughter & had a delicious meal of lasagna, Caesar salad & garlic bread.....(and cookies for dessert!!).

Grand daughter & Grampie put together this yummy gingerbread train....somehow they managed to be a wheel short...but it all came together...even with a few of the candies eaten beforehand as well....

Mr. Seventies attempted to place strings of lights on our Yew tree....only to discover two of the three sets  no longer work!!  They are only a year or two old....but our neighbour discovered the same thing with his lights....which were purchased from the same store!

The strand that was working he wrapped around the forsythia shrub & placed a floodlight in the ground to light up the wreath handing on the front door!  I'm just as happy the lights didn't work....Mr. Seventies has to be up on a ladder to wrap them around the tree....it was getting a bit too much work....and if he ever fell....

Another busy week of appointments....one or two each day for the remainder of the week!  Liesel heads to the groomer this week...not one of her favourite outings....

We had a dusting of snow overnight....nothing substantial & it will likely melt later in the day.  At least it's not raining...

Please join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

And tomorrow at Slices of Life  https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday....

Thanks so much for spending a bit of your time with me today....I so appreciate you stopping by...

Until next time.....

  1. Ha - it's reverse holiday magic that no matter how careful you are, some of the strings just don't make it through storage. On the other hand, I once had a string of very inexpensive holiday lights stay on 24 hours a day for over 3 years in my backyard trees ... ! There's just no explaining it! Love your new wall color, and your linens look perfect. Thanks for sharing the fun - and the struggle! Happy Holidays!

It sounds like you had a wonderful time with daughter and family and the gingerbread train looks like so much fun. Good luck with your lamp-finding journey and I hope you are able to find something that you like. Take care over there my friend - we have tons of snow here. Ugh.
