Additions To My Wardrobe

I've added a few pieces to my clothing wardrobe...I've discovered all my swimwear from last year just won't do!  You know the downside to losing weight?  In my opinion.  Extra skin..not to mention I'm no longer a spring chicken!

Maybe once my knee replacement  is in the rearview....I'll be able to get into some gentle workouts.  Remember this time last year.....when I was going to bounce class?  I loved going....and never had so much fun working out!  Although low impact.....my knee did not agree!

You'd think if one was going to suffer a heart attack.....bounce class would have been the place!  Not sitting home, quietly entertaining....but I digress....moving on....

I chose rash guard SPF to try out in the pool this summer.  I thought I would hate it....surprisingly...I do not!  The shorts are not quite as long on me....and I'm happy with the shorter sleeves.  I had ordered a set prior, only to discover the top had no bra inserts.  And that wouldn't do....returned it & ordered a set that does...stylish, no?

And I'm crushing on this set!!  Who doesn't love flamingos?  I plan to order....grand daughter wears these as well..she & her Mimi are going to rock poolside this summer!

I have been maintaining my weight loss....and was advised not to lose any more than seven additional pounds...(said no one to me ever)....my diabetic nutritionist feels since I've lost a substantial amount of weight....I'm close enough to goal.  (hers...not mine).  I was pleasantly surprised though in picking up these cargo pants....I needed to size down to a 10!  Me...in a size 10!  Now...it's likely the style...they are loose fit & have elastic on the sides as the waist....I currently have a size medium beige pair...both are super comfortable...

A local clothing store was having an amazing sale....I picked up a few pieces....loving this black lacy top....plan to wear it with jeans or jean skirt...

This sweater (since we are still in a deep freeze here)...is so warm and cozy....and soft...the colour is a soft teal....I have a similar one in pink .....we need lots of warm sweaters here!!

This one, along with the black top....will need to wait til warmer weather....pink is my favourite colour & this one has the prettiest buttons on the neck closure....

This is my third vest I've picked up....I wear them with long sleeve t-shirts or tops....usually with my go to pants.....jeans....

Who doesn't love Henley t-shirts?  (I remember wearing these as a teenager!)   Some things never go out of style....I chose a couple of colours...

My hand warmers are due to be delivered today!  Back story - I have Reynaud's Syndrome (yup...add that to my list of ailments)....if you aren't familiar Reynaud's is part usually of an autoimmune disease.  You lose circulation in your hands and toes....(mostly hands).....where they turn white & go numb when I'm cold or anxious.  It happens frequently throughout the day....it's even happens in the pool....during  heatwaves!

My previous set quit working after a few short months.  I was able to return them & ordered a different set in hopes they will last longer.  They work really well....are rechargeable & it's best to slip them into a pair of mittens prior to heading outdoors.

One gal I chatted with has rechargeable warming gloves....I prefer mittens, they work best for me.  These fit right in the palm of your hands & have three heat settings.  It can be a bit painful when your hands begin to warm up & circulation returns.....so I use the lowest heat setting.  For many years....I drove to work with my hands on the heat vents in the car!

Update on the bedroom - it is finished!  I haven't pulled it together yet....we wanted to give everything a thorough wipe down....including the hardwood floor using Murphy's Oil soap....

I'm not using the bedding I had originally planned!  That's just me.  It has to click...and when it doesn't....I go in an opposite direction...

I'm waiting for this set to arrive - it is from Waverly....called Stencil Vine....a gray/charcoal colour.....quilt with sham & striped bedskirt....

I'm obsessed with the matching valances......can't wait to see them hung on my white curtain rod....I hope you stay tuned....

I'm also waiting for the mattress cover to arrive....this is the same one we have in our bedroom & second bedroom....it is very puffy & amazing quality....

It was a bit of a messy late afternoon & overnight....it started to snow....and was still snowing at bed time.  The winds had come up....and it made for a messy drive home for commuters....and a cold windchill!

Schools & work places are on delayed openings....some will likely close for the day!  We are getting into the real "teeth" of winter!

We have a beef stew ready to go in the crockpot....and plan to stay cozied up by the wood stove today...

Thanks so much for reading along today!  I hope you have an awesome day....

Until next time....

Short Road Trip & Seam Fill Update

Happy Monday!!!  We've made it to the last week in January!!  The bitter windchills have finally given way to more seasonal temperatures.....Liesel & I were able to get out for our walk yesterday.  February is usually our coldest winter month - I'm sure we will be in another deep freeze then....

We bundled up with Liesel in tow & took a short road trip to Summerside and a few spots in between!  I checked out one home decor shop....things look so bleak & bare after the holiday season...I love these bottle brush trees on clearance - original price was $49...each!  They were marked down to $10 or so on a clearance table....

You'd think anyone who loves wax tarts as much as I do....would have grabbed a few bags of these.  But you'd be wrong.  I find this particular brand does not have much of a strong scent....or "throw" I think is the correct description.  I purchased them years ago....a couple of times.....and was disappointed...

I don't know why I love these rope balls!  But I do!  They are giving me a little bit too much of a "coastal" vibe though....could be just me....

I had the opportunity to stop at the small shop housed in the old train station (next to our favourite bakery).  The shop has so much "stuff"....you can barely get around & see everything!  They could clear out half their stock.....and still have loads left!  Everything....is piled....everywhere!

Can you see what caught my eye....immediately?  There was no way I could even get to it....without asking the shop keeper to get it down for me...

If you guessed one of the crocks.....you get a gold star!  I could not leave it there....

I have no idea where it will go.....I set it on the ledge in the family room....and there it still sits...temporarily though....

I continued to check things out...as much as I could without tripping or knocking anything over....I wanted this basket so bad....I had to zoom in to get a photo!  Too much in the way to get to it....and it held too much stuff!  No visible price...and I knew if I inquired....it would have to be emptied out & brought down...and that would take forever just to get to the cabinet it sat on.   Maybe next time I visit....

By this time there were other shoppers joining me....and it was just too difficult to get around or take too many more photos...

I am obsessed with this large blue truck!  I'm still considering it...I have a little idea for it...if it's still here when I visit next...

And with that....I headed for the door with my crock in tow!  Mr. Seventies wanted cream cheese covered cinnamon rolls from the bakery next door....I picked up four....(he wanted six....but four had to suffice)....since we had picked up a pizza to take home from our favourite pizza place!  Thoroughly enjoyed our little day-cation!

Inspired Living is bringing in these adorable ducks!!  My neighbour & I will be visiting when they arrive...we both need one....or two....and have plans to do lunch afterwards....these ones are my favourite...

As are these ones....oh okay....I'm crushing on them all....they have shorter versions as well....adorable!!

And....the seam filling is done!!  We couldn't be happier with the end results!  This guy was amazing.....came exactly when he said he would....cleaned up afterwards....did amazing work - he gets a two thumbs up from us!

Mr. Seventies has rolled on one coat of primer & two coats of ceiling paint....and today he starts the walls....oh I just love pretty flat ceilings!  That is the end of the popcorn ceiling in this Seventies Split!!

I picked up the quilt set & bedskirt from the laundry....as expected they did a beautiful job....everything sweet smelling & freshly pressed!

Mr. Seventies busy brining in bags of pellets for the wood stove....with the cold temperatures we've had both the pellet stove and heat pump keeping us toasty warm....

And Liesel was excited to have a couple new toys.....she doesn't care they are Christmas themed...and on clearance.....I think Miss Gingerbread is already missing her bow....

I hope you will join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday! (a reason to love Mondays).....

And tomorrow I'll be sharing over at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday and https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday....

Many thanks for hanging out with me today....wishing you an awesome day wherever you are!!

Til next time....

Quick Thrift Store Visit

In between appointments,  I killed some time & roamed a local thrift store.  Did I mention we are having brain numbing cold temps & windchills?  No??  Well we are.  And I don't like it....not one little bit .  I so dislike when Ma Nature flexes her muscles & reminds us just who is in charge...

Moving on....I thought this planter was super cute....and the price was not bad.....

Until I turned it over.   Not cool...they should remove the cheaper price tag...before inflating the price....

This little vase....would be adorable filled with a small Valentine bouquet....not for me...but for someone.....

Of course...pottery pieces always catch my eye....this one was no exception....

I almost brought this home with me....almost.  I remembered I have no room left in my cabinet...but I wanted it so bad.  It was not a small piece... if it's there next time.....it will be mine...

A couple of cute bunnies....I would give them a fresh coat of paint....hoping someone will buy them & do that....

Yup....just this....who else agrees?

A pretty piece maybe seton a vanity or dresser....a spot to set necklaces, rings....change.  I recently "mis-placed" my anniversary ring....(actually it slid off my finger)....Mr. Seventies found it in the mitten & hat basket in the kitchen....and sternly advised me not to wear my rings until I either get them resized or have ring guards on them.   It's on my to do list to do the latter......

I'm on the lookout for something to set next to the kitchen sink....to house the soap dispensers in...not sure what I want....but I'll know when I find it....

If this piece was a bit bigger.....I could have set them inside....otherwise I have no idea what it could be used for....

,

This print & frame is great....although I have absolutely no place to hang or set it....I'm sure it will be snatched up quickly....

I apologize for the light reflection...I'm crushing on these pics....had our little one not switched from ballet to tap dance....these would be hanging on her wall....

Now this.....had to come home with me.  I'm not sure why....maybe because it was signed on the back to someone from their grandmother....dated 1978!!!  I'd love for it to have a more substantial frame.... it deserves one.  I'm not usually drawn to cross stitch....but this is so well done....and someone put a lot for thought & love into it....

And with that....my browsing came to an end.   It was time to head to my appointment.  I'm happy to report the seam filler is coming today to put the first skim coat on the small bedroom ceiling.  Hopefully after three coats & sanding in between.....Mr. Seventies will be ready to prime this weekend.

I'm picking up ceiling & wall paint today....hopeful you are not having the same frigid temps where you are.....

Til next time....

Dye-ing For Tulips!!!

I was browsing around the local thrift shop one afternoon...(more on that in a later post)....and I came across this bunch of real touch tulips....(they truly do feel & resemble real tulips).  This bunch of a "bakers dozen (thirteen stems) was selling for $3.99.....

They are priced so much higher in the stores....so at under $4....I snagged them to add to the ones I currently have.  A bunch of 7 is currently being sold here for $29.99!!  I would never pay that much...

I laid all my stems on the top rack of the dishwasher..... they washed amazing!  For what I had planned they needed to be clean & dust free .......

I wasn't a fan of the "white"....it appeared more like they were "yellowing". or "aging".... than actually white. Now they would have been fine left that way....but I wanted colour!! I let them dry completely overnight...one bunch resting on a dish towel...

Since I'd had great success when I dyed faux hydrangeas....I picked up a couple of bottles of Rit dye at Michaels...in the colours Kentucky Sky & Apricot Orange.  Rit dyes are available in powder form as well....I just prefer the liquid...

I brought a couple of pots of water to a boil.....turned them down to simmer, added a bottle of dye to each pot & mixed.   First colour I dipped was the Apricot Orange...

I was surprised how the stems absorbed the colour....the longer I let them sit in the dye bath, the darker they became...

Since it was working so well....I continued on with the Kentucky Sky ...,... and while it didn't absorb as quickly .....the longer I allowed them to sit in the dye....the better it worked...

I placed the stems on dish towels & paper towel covered cookie sheets....to dry overnight....here are just a few drying....

I'm obsessed with how beautiful these turned out...the striped vase was a previous thrift store find...(sorry for the shadows....it was an overcast morning & needed an overhead light on)...

Once finished, the range top needed a good scouring & cleaning.....but an easy fix....

I discovered a few days ago....purchases from Home Sense, Winners & Marshalls....can be exchanged at any of their stores....I had purchased a lamp for the small bedroom makeover....and while it was in the trunk....I decided to peruse around Winners....and found this amazing lamp...I love a scallop shade...

I had plans to purchase it and then return the one in the trunk to Home Sense. I  casually asked the cashier at Winners if Home Sense purchases could be returned at Winners.  She replied, "of course".  And suggested I bring the one in I had previously purchased & she would do the return & check out the lamp above.   So glad I asked...who knew??

*Note - Remember the lamps I missed out on at Home Sense?  The ones with the floral scallop shades?  I follow a local gal here on FB who does interior painting & decorating....she had posted a photo of the lamps on her page.

When I commented I missed out on them....one of her followers apologized....as she was the "culprit" who had purchased just one & broke up the set!  I quickly advised I was very happy someone loved the lamp(s) as much as I did!!

The seam filler is hoping to come Wednesday or Thursday to get a start on the small bedroom ceiling!  I dropped off the quilt, sham & bedskirt for laundering & pressing at our local laundry & dry cleaner establishment....$50 for three pieces!!  *thud*.

Now I had the choice to launder & press them myself....but since they do a wonderful job, I left them in their experienced care.  Even though new.....they were quite wrinkled from packaging....

How is this for an under $3 find?  (cannot beat Temu for some things).....such great prices I ended up purchasing two iPhone cases....this one I am currently using....sweet little Valentine doxie....

And another for later in the year....at these low prices...how can you not get more than one??

It's a wintery day here....snow & blowing snow....the schools across the Island have closed for the day & most businesses are either delaying opening or closed as well.  Not only is the snow a factor....but the winds are causing visibility issues.   The next couple of days threaten cold windchills....now we are getting into the thick of winter!  Ugh.

Mr. Seventies is so thankful for his brilliant assistant with the challenges of Sudoku puzzles..... good to keep their minds sharp!

Thanks so much for spending a bit of your day with me....so greatly appreciated!

Be sure to join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday....
