Garden Center & Gift Shop Browse

Summer is joining us here this week!  Sun & warm temps for the next five days - Mr. Seventies plans to stain the smaller deck & back steps today.....then the patio furniture can be set out! in a few days  I can't wait to sit out & enjoy some sun!

We picked up two Adirondack chairs for seating to enjoy the fire pit.  After Fiona not only was the previous fire pit destroyed....but the cover for it as well.  I finally was able to find a new cover for this one & toss the ratty one away.  A bag of marshmallows are idling in the cupboard....

The pool is opened as well.... it's official....summer has arrived!!

Since it was cooler last week & great weather for working outside....this is the second of two loads of gardening mulch Mr. Seventies has been busy spreading in the flower gardens.....the tulips are done blooming...(always sad to see them finish)....but lots of new colours & plants cropping up each day....

We ventured to the garden centre/gift shop/ice cream shop one sunny afternoon....it was wonderful to get out for a peruse around....

We sure had a case of sticker shock....this hydrangea....while beautiful....was selling for $60!!  The one Mr. Seventies purchased for me at a greenhouse in the city....was $42....quite a difference in price.  Even the price of annuals has gone up considerably....like everything else....

I took a few minutes to check out the gift shop....I had hoped to pick up a mat for in front of our kitchen sink....but the selection was not great this year.....this one is pretty but not what I'm looking for...

Lots of cute items....mostly what I consider knick knacks....had a chuckle when I saw this mug....

Cute planters...although these resin jackets won't last if used outside....they don't withstand water...

I adore anything fox....if this one had been a bit larger....I would have gotten it....but they were on the small side...

Cute mushrooms....I guess for plants on a windowsill maybe?   Or on a desk for small items....

Repurposed milk & cream cans.....tole painted....were all the rage back in the 80's!  I was big into tole painting back then.   I guess it's true.....what's old is new again....

Since Prince Edward Island is known for its potatoes.....these cookbooks are still very popular....(speaking of potatoes.....we have them up in our veggie garden).....grand daughter & her Grampie planted then a few weeks back.....

I thoroughly enjoyed our outing....and my knee is healing well.  My visit with my orthopaedic surgeon went well last week.....he is very pleased with my mobility.  I see him again in about six weeks. I discovered my replacement parts are not one size fits all!  Which explained his comment after surgery of me having "skinny knees"....(said no one to me ever).  I guess it makes sense....everyone's knees would not be the same size....

What hasn't been fun is weaning off pain meds....apparently the body can become dependent in as little as three days!  Good to know....not that it would have changed anything.  I needed them at the time & a visit to my doctor at the pain clinic helped me devise a plan to lesson the doses over a matter of 4-5 days.  I had a choice to do it that way.....or go cold turkey & they'd be out of my system in four days.   I know what that would have entailed so....

I chose to wean off.... the last three days have been med free, but not been easy or without withdrawals....I think I'm through the worst of it!!   When my knee begins to pain....I prop it up & use an ice pack.  This week marks the seventh week post op!!

That is about all the "news" from here....I hope you are enjoying wonderful weather where you are!  April & May here were overcast & rain.....and more rain....

Be sure to& join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

And again tomorrow with Joanne at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays and https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday.....

Thanks so much for spending your time with me....I so appreciate it....

Until next time....

  1. Hi Charlotte! I'm so glad your knee is healing and you were able to get out for a bit. Congrats on weaning from the pain meds - that's not easy! Plants are more expensive here this year too, sadly. So happy that your pool is up and ready to go. Bring on summer - yay. Take care over there, my friend!

  2. Some cute finds at the plant store; I'm often dismayed that some of the cutest planters only seem to come in tiny sizes. It's great to hear you are recovering so well!
