Lilies & More!

We currently have a few variety of lilies....we were searching for this particular one in the gardens....and could not find it!   Then a few days ago....it magically appeared!!  It's the only variety I remember the name of....Boogeyman!!  Is it not stunning?

We have a number of varieties.....and plan to order a few more.....

The clematis is thriving on on the pool deck wall......it took a number of attempts, in various places on our property.....before we finally were able to get one to grow.....and it's a show stopper!!

The vegetable garden is thriving as well.....we've had the perfect summer for growing corn...which loves the heat....

Under this covering.....we are growing broccoli.....first time in many years!  We covered it for protection from the cabbage worm....which loves cauliflower, broccoli & cabbage!!

We've been enjoying new potatoes from the garden.....and the last day or two....an abundance of yellow & green beans....

There is nothing like enjoying fresh vegetable that were growing 1/2 hour prior to cooking!  Mr. Seventies loves to garden....and we enjoy his hard work!!   You will never find him on a golf course....he'd rather be gardening.....

Possible showers in the forecast today.....we do need rain (hard to admit).....we've had a hot, dry summer so far!  And we're loving it!

I hope your summer is going well....

Til next time....

I Have Curls!!

To my delight....the perm used for my curls.....smelled quite nice!  Not like the stinky ones my Mom gave me in my younger years....I'm relieved to say!  I could not be happier with the results....they are soft....and curly....

I have the best hairstylist....she is a sweet gal....I've been going to her for a number of years!  She is always up for whatever I can think of....but not afraid to tell me  "you won't like it" like if I decide to go gray (since I have so little she assures me) ...or cut my hair short again....and I appreciate her honesty!

Til next time...

Little Bit of Hallowe'en!!

Last week of July.....already!!  Some think it's too early to be thinking about fall.....or Hallowe'en.  I get it.  I am not one of those people though....from here on until Christmas.....my favourite months!!

While out & about last week....the stores are stocking up with some great pieces....and cushions!!   A few of my picks....adorable ghosts & pumpkins...

Hocus Pocus is one of my favourite movies... I may have to pick this cushion up....luv it!!

As much as I love a good witch's broom....the $50 price tag was a bit much!!!  I see videos on how to make them.....I may have to ask Mr. Seventies to help me do that....

Squishy pumpkins are everywhere this year.....I'm crushing on these soft white ones....

I'll share a few pieces I couldn't resist.....had to pick them up.....who doesn't love a good light up Frankenstein ghost???   I sure do....and brought this guy home...

And this beautiful soft & plush throw...since my little granddaughter claimed last year's Boo throw....I couldn't resist this one......

I don't usually purchase candles at Home Sense or Winners.....but this one has such an amazing scent....and I can use the little crock afterwards......

I had a chuckle when I read this little towel.....and it just might be my spirit animal.....

When I brought home my latest Gripstand bowl..... it was the perfect time to take down all the bowls, give them a good washing.....as well as the top of the cabinets....(doing this was Mr. Seventies idea) - who am I to stop him....right?   He's a keeper.  In shuffling the bowls around a bit.....I have room for one more!  The hunt continues......

I've been searching for a tiered stand to place in the main bath.....to hold towels, bath salts, etc. & this one from PB Kids is hopefully going to be perfect for that!  Not a fan of the castors....when it arrives if they are on the legs I'll have Mr. Seventies remove them.....

I wanted something with a scallop edge.....hopeful this one will be just the right size.....

Today is manicure & pedicure day!!  Little bit of pampering is needed.  Tomorrow I'm changing up my hairstyle......and going with curls!  I'm so excited to have curls again....my hair stylist is awesome....I know she will be great doing it!!  If it turns out.....I'll share pics!!

Anyone old enough to remember home perms?  And how bad they smelled?  I sure do - one Saturday morning my Mom gave me a perm!  Growing up, Saturday afternoon was spent at our local movie theatre & for 50 cents I'd be gone all afternoon.....meeting up with my friends....a chance to munch on stale popcorn, watered down Kool-aid and a movie!  We loved going to the movies!

Until that fateful day.....my hair stunk of perm so bad.....my friends almost didn't sit with me!!  I couldn't blame them.....I promised never to let my Mom give me a perm on Saturday again!!!  True story.

Today is Monday.....be sure to join me over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

And tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday as well as https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Talking About It Tuesday.

Catching Up

It's been a busy week....we thoroughly enjoyed our company this week!  Looking forward to seeing more family in a couple of weeks!   Summer is such an awesome time of year, isn't it?

Mr. Seventies put three coats on the exterior back door....after a thorough cleaning....he taped off certain areas & removed the glass & screen in preparation......the before as he began to tape....

There is nothing wrong with the door.....it works perfectly, he did have to remove the sweep from the bottom of the door & replace it with a new one.....other than that it works perfectly.....just needed a fresh new colour.   He applied three coats of metal paint & what was old is new again...and green....

Mr. Seventies & daughter visited a local strawberry u-pick....we've gone through our supply of berries already.....who doesn't love strawberry shortcake?

Mr. Seventies has perfected making biscuits....a wonderful fresh, flaky delicious treat!!  I was putting them away in zip loc bags.....don't they look scrumptious?

I've been meaning to share a few of my July purchases.....like new Hunter Boot socks....I'm crushing on these hot pink ones!  I love my Hunter rain boots....and have an additional pair of gray socks.....I found these ones on sale!!

I cannot wait for this raw cotton shrug to arrive.....it's available in ecru, black and this sand colour....which is what I ordered.  I'm certain it will get lots of wear....the perfect piece to wrap up in....

I have been searching for a storage cart for the main bath......for ages.  Even though it's sold on Pottery Barn kids....it's exactly what I had in mind.....minus the wheels.  I'm not a fan of casters...if it arrives with them on, I'll have Mr. Seventies remove them.  I don't plan on moving it around....it will be perfect to hold a towel & face cloth or two, bath salts, etc......

I can see how the casters would be convenient perhaps in a nursery....as shown in the photo....I've seen carts with plan shelves.....but I wanted the scalloped baskets....

And that wraps up my week here in my seventies split!  The daily temperatures have cooled off a bit but the next few days are looking like pool days again!

Thanks for hanging out with me & have an awesome weekend!

Visit To The Lavender Distillery

One hot & breezy afternoon we ventured not too far from home to visit this amazing spot!!  While it isn't a long drive from us.....it's in the middle of nowhere.....or at least you can see it from there!  We followed a narrow, winding road....to a dead end...and we were there!

Upon arrival.....the smell of lavender....was intoxicating!   Patches & rows of various varieties growing everywhere!  I'm standing in front of a variety Mr. Seventies plans to grow. ......

A couple of the fields.....quite a bit had been picked down.....they have been open for a few weeks now....

Rows and rows of beautifully scented lavender....

There was lavender bunches picked & tied up ready for sale.....or you could pick your own, sit for a spell & tie up your bundles....

And......the most adorable gift shop on site.....

You know I had to check it out....

This cabinet held lavender lotions, potions & oils....the shop was adorable....and fun to browse around....

This cabinet held many items made from local bees wax....

Who doesn't love an antique carriage of hand crafted baby foxes?  I sure do...

In this room, a number of local potters had their pieces available for purchase....along with various bouquets of dried flowers....

I'm crushing on these heart shaped mugs....$84 each!

And if you've not tried chocolate covered potato chips....you don't know what you're missing!!  Absolutely a salty & sweet snack!  We made them at home when our girls were younger....we spread ripple potato chips on a cookie sheet.....and covered them in melted milk chocolate chips!   Once the chocolate hardened....they didn't last long!

Mr. Seventies pick up a bottle of locally made jam from Island Preserve Company!  We've never visited their site...it's on our "to do" list as well!!

Upon leaving.....we stopped to admire gorgeous rose bushes....

Beautiful & smelled just as amazing....pink are my favourite.....so soft & delicate....

We are so glad we discovered the lavender distillery....and hope to make it an annual visit....now that we know where to find it!   It's tucked out of the way.....but visitors from out of province seem not to have any issue locating it.  Maybe it's just us locals....

I hope you enjoyed our visit to the lavender distillery as well!  It promises to be a busy week here....Mr. Seventies brother & his wife arrived tomorrow from Nova Scotia for a visit.....very much looking forward to catching up with them! We will see them again in a few weeks time....to visit with them & attend a family wedding....

Afterwards we are off for a few days to explore Nova Scotia a bit more....staying our first night in Lunenburg...a port town in Nova Scotia founded in 1753!  We have longed to visit there & decided to book accommodations & visit!!  I promise to take you along!  Have you seen the Hallmark Christmas movie "Christmas Island"?  It was filmed in and around Nova Scotia's south shore....I hope you can check it out!

Be sure to join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

And tomorrow check out https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday as well as https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays.....

Sincere thanks for hanging out with me today....I so appreciate it.

Waterfront Craft Shop Visit, Etc.

We ventured to the downtown waterfront, known as Peakes Quay (named after patriarch James Ellis Peake who owned three wharves & businesses there in the 1800's.).  It is now a popular tourist spot.

We visited to enjoy fish & chips from a local spot known as the Chip Shack!  The best fish & chips in town...hands down!

It's located so close to the water....you could almost dip your toes in!!  I would have enjoyed sharing photos of the various sights & shops......but it's tourist season!  And 99% of them...were mingling about & taking in the eating establishments, ice creams & the dozen or so shops to peruse....

After our enjoyable feast....while Mr. Seventies enjoyed the shade & local music performers...I ventured into one of the craft shops.  Keep in mind....I'm taking these photos & avoiding having anyone appear in them....

I love pottery...and there is nothing more awesome than pottery made by local artisans....

How pretty (and useful) are these hand knit (crotchet?) bags?  Can be used for a number of things...the one on the right was my favourite....

I was crushing on this bird house.....and another one I failed to photograph (again small shop & numerous shoppers).....it was a bee skep....but this lobster bird house is adorable....

Ever heard of a potato glove?  No?  They are used to scrub potatoes!  And work really well when new potatoes are ready to be enjoyed!  Our potatoes in the garden....are flowering!  Hate to admit it....but we need a bit of rain...but don't let the heat wave God's hear that!

Let it be known....

I'm going to own a fox hat this fall!  There is a whole line of locally knit fox hats, mittens, scarves....in sizes from infant to adults!  And I love anything fox!  We used to have numerous foxes around this Seventies Split.....sadly mange has decreased their population substantially!  They are beginning to re-bound....we just don't have them back here yet....

This though.....is probably the hat I should own!

This piece was adorable....I'm crushing on it so hard...who doesn't love foxes??

No craft shop would be complete without some Anne of Green Gables memorabilia.....mugs are no exception....the house in the background is the actual house.....located here in Cavendish.....there are tours daily....

Anyone ever enjoyed a "Beaver Tail"?  Me either....but I fully intend to!  It's a pastry delicacy from what I've been told....but it and "Smores"....I've never partaken in!   I didn't even know they had a  location on the waterfront!  Had I not been full from the fish & chips (and Cows ice cream).....I would have ordered one.   Next time...their delicious aroma was so tempting...

We had a lovely evening.....wandering around...playing tourists!  It was a warm evening but with a cool breeze to enjoy!  We are experience warm temperatures (warm for here - 88-89 F today).....with loads of sun!

My tea pot tart warmer arrived.....and I'm loving it!   The bulb included was too big....a quick trip to Home Depot for a smaller one....and it's up & running....

Mr. Seventies has been finishing up a few outside projects....he can retire his stain brush for this season....now he has moved on to the exterior back door.  The trim around the door required a couple of coats of white paint.....he's moved on to painting the exterior storm door......just taping it up...

If you've been reading along for a while now.....you've come to know I like colour!  And this white exterior door is screaming for some colour!  How about.....Pistachio....by Behr....it's interior/exterior paint suitable for metal...(as in storm doors).....it's going to look a-w-e-s-o-m-e!!

We decided to paint the door....rather than replace it.....there is nothing wrong with the door....it works fine.  It is just needing a facelift!

While it's cooler this morning.....Mr. Seventies is busy prepping & will get a first coat on!

Another pool day.....family evening pool event will be in full swing.....a repeat to last evening!  We've even had the heat pump (set on air conditioning) running off and on the past few days....sun & warm temps are in the long range foreseeable future!!

Wishing you an awesome day wherever you are!

Til next time....
