Clancy Mae took a reaction to her third round of immunizations ....likely the rabies vaccine!! When we returned home from her appointment.....she began acting strange....scratching, digging & acting like somethhing was stuck to the roof of her mouth....
Then her snout & eyelids began to swell....
This all took place within a matter of 10-15 minutes.....we scooped her up & went back to the vet clinic (which is on our road)....
She was immediately taken in & a steroid IV was administered & an antihistamine shot!
They praised us for bringing her in so quickly....her throat hadn't begun to swell....whew!
She is snoozing comfortably now....we will administer Benadryl at home for the next three days.
It was scary tho....so thankful she is okay!
Not the day I had planned....just thankful she is going to be okay....will spend it with her snuggled beside me....no better place to be....
*Update* - The Benadryl is making her loopy! For about two hours...she kept shaking her head...lay down - then jump up like she heard something...snuggle with me - the again...jump up!
I spoke with a vet tech at the clinic & was advised....no more Benadryl. As with some children....some dogs have an adverse reaction to it. The plan is to tentatively have steroid injection for the next couple of days....to keep the swelling down....it has come down a bit, but they want to make sure it doesn't re-occur.
They will advise me later this afternoon if a couple more steroid shots is do-able!
Clancy Mae....you've aged your Mama & Dad already!!! lol!!
Wouldn't have it any other way!!

Oh, Charlotte, that must have been so scary for you and hubby. It’s good you acted so quickly. Poor, wee thing! Hope you’re all resting. Hugs, Elaine
