Mr. Seventies & I are celebrating thirty-seven years together on this day!!
It's hard to believe we are in the last week of October already! Since Hallowe'en is a go here...Mr. Seventies purchased the "treats"...(which are really for him)...as we seldom get trick or treaters..and if we do..it's only a handful. With so many housing developments in the area....parents choose to stick closer to home than venture out with little ones on a busy road such as ours.
Well...this is the end of an era. After much prodding...Mr. Seventies finally sawed up the old picnic table & used the lumber in the burn pot! This picnic table has withstood the test of time...it was purchased about 36 years ago...and each and every year since...it has been repaired and stained. Until...it could be no more...bits and pieces after sawing it up...
I popped into my favourite home decor store a few days ago...some lovely Christmas decor and goodies everywhere! Oh...I was so tempted...how cute are these characters?
In other news...Hallowe'en is a go here...I'm happy little trick or treaters will be able to get out & about safely. We seldom get goblins...you've read where I've mentioned we live on an extremely busy road...and although we have sidewalks and street lights...parents tend to accompany their little ones in one of the many housing developments off our road. But...as in the previous 32 years...Mr. Seventies will stock up on treats...just in case this might be the year we get an onslaught of kids! As usual I advised him to purchase snacks he likes...because he will be the big kid enjoying them!
Last weekend he tied up a few cornstalks to our bird house pole...and added the traditional dachshund themed carved pumpkin! He does such a great carving job!!
Update on new gutter install - supposed to take place next week! The construction industry is booming here...and workers are swamped with jobs...it's taken a bit longer to get the new gutters done...but fingers crossed it will happen sooner rather than later.
The weather has been remaining warm...except in the evenings and over night. Remember the gorgeous knitted wrap I ordered a few months back from a seller on Etsy? I had the opportunity to show it off on date night! Due to Covid...we don't tend to venture into restaurants...but felt a night out was long overdue! We enjoyed a delicious meal at a local seafood and pub restaurant!I have some fresh cooked squash from our garden and slow cooker mix of apples and raspberry applesauce to drop off today. Milk protein and soy are still an issue...she remains on a prescribed formula...and discovered certain pablum contain milk proteins. And...drumroll please...she rolled over all on her own yesterday!! My heart is so happy and full when I hear her laugh...and squeal...she is such a happy little baby now!
Here's hoping you have an awesome day wherever you are today!
We celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday at my daughter's house...it was a wonderful afternoon and meal...this is the first time my daughter had the opportunity to use her passed down china (from her grandmother)....and her mother's gold flatware. The flatware case (sorry, I didn't remember to get a photo)..belonged to her great grandmother...Mr. Seventies re-finished the outside and had it professionally relined as a gift to me a number of years ago...and I have passed the case & flatware to her. I'll be on the look out for some pretty napkins and table runner....in the meantime...the table looked lovely and very sentimental ....
Another week has flown by...we had extremely high winds yesterday...which prompted the closure of the Confederation Bridge to high sided vehicles. And it rained off and on most of the day...one rainbow we saw on the way to our daughter's home....we didn't check for a pot of gold! In another area...there was a double rainbow...but too much traffic for me to capture a photo or two...
Wet and cool here today...typical fall day. I want to share my quilt set which finally arrived...it seemed to take a long time...over three weeks to arrive. But it was worth the wait...it is so nice...and the quality is amazing. I apologize for the darkness of the photo...it was taken before the sun had come around to that side of the house...
Hey all! We had beautiful weather all last week...summer temperatures in fact. Now..it's cooled down...more fall feeling.
My laptop had a key that wasn't working....Mr. Seventies attempted to fix it...but it wasn't working properly and was so annoying. I could have taken it in for repair...but it might have been gone a few days...and I didn't want that. I purchased a new Mac Book Air...my previous two Macs were Mac Pros...but I see no difference between the two models. The Air suits my needs just fine. I will drop my old one off for repair...and Mr. Seventies can use it (it's only three years old...so still lots of life in it yet).
We spent a day in Summerside...picked up grand baby's book case. enjoyed a delicious lunch and on the way home...stopped to pick up a couple of pumpkins at a road side trailer...one Luna (white) and a traditional orange pumpkin...
