Shopping On The Mainland - Part 1

It's very windy today...rain forecast later in the day.  We enjoyed a delicious Thanksgiving dinner with daughter & family yesterday....ate too much, of course!  So very thankful & blessed....

I'm splitting the stores I visited on the mainland into parts...as it would be too long for one post....and you might nod off...lol.

We headed out early that day and it was a beautiful, sun-filled day!  So much traffic on the road though...and in Moncton city as well....

Our first stop was at Marshall's (Home Sense & Winner's cousin).....it is my second favourite store after Winner's and Home Sense is my third!  If Winner's and Home Sense held a yard sale....it would be Marshall's!  Still a great place to shop....and one of the TJX franchise.  We need a Marshall's store here!

There was a great selection of Christmas cushions at Marshall's....a couple of my picks....aren't they pretty?  And I love their shapes....

These candle warmers are so awesome....I have one & a candle currently sits on it...no lighting a candle is required....the bulb melts the wax beautifully....

The cord to the lamp is in the box....I love the various shade colours & patterns now available....mine is a glass, tulip shape...

I am obsessed with these over-sized bells....and may pick up a couple from Winner's or Home Sense here...I'm pretty certain they will carry them....the smaller size of the two I'd love to get to set on the hearth at Christmas....

I did pick up two boxes of these gorgeous bells....they are sold as a "garland".... but I intend to separate them & use as ornaments on our Christmas tree.  There is eight in each package.....I picked up two packages....if I only require one, I can return it to Winners or Home Sense here....I suspect I will be using them all.  These are from Martha Stewart...(she can do no wrong)......

This pretty ceramic present is an adorable cookie jar...it caught my eye...

As did this wooden carved tree....it is solid wood...a collection would look nice on a mantle.....they are available in various heights....

I'm a huge lover of snow globes.....having a couple gifted to me....and most are musical.....

This adorable pet bed would last a nano-second with Clancy Mae....I could see her chewing the wicker in no time....

I'll share more photos from other stores we visited next blog post.  Remember the sconces I ordered?  To jog your memory, these require no hard wiring....the bulbs (included) are rechargeable....and each sconce has its own remote - however one remote operates them both....

Not going to lie...it was a challenge for Mr. Seventies to install them....firstly not enough screws came with them....and the ones that did.....did not fit!!  Thankfully, he has jars full of screws & nuts & bolts & was able to find some that worked.....and the instructions were very, very vague & covered installing them in a hex box (for hard wiring).  They are not meant to be hard wired!!  Go figure.

After a few choice words, muttered under his breath (which says a lot as he is the most patient person I know) ....he finally had them together....and mounted.....and they work perfect!! (the photo was taken at night....so I could share them lit up)......the brass colour is gorgeous....has a bit of an aged look to it....

When I contacted Amazon to have the seller perhaps provide the correct screws....Amazon refunded the full amount I paid for them!!!  Without any prompting from me!    That took a bit of the sting out for Mr. Seventies....

Be sure & join me later today for the blog party Metamorphosis Monday over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ and again tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays....great time to catch up with fellow bloggers....

Thanks so much for being with me today, I greatly appreciate your company.....

Til next time....

  1. The sconces look great. It’s so frustrating when instructions are vague or don’t match the products. RHill, TX

    1. Thank you, I'm really happy with the sconces!! And I agree - very frustrating putting things together...period. Which is why I get Mr. Seventies to do it - I have little patience...lol!!

  2. Charlotte, Winners, HomeSense, and Marshalls are all completely Christmas now, with just a smattering of Halloween. I'm such a sucker for Christmas stuff and I certainly don't need anymore, so I'll try and stay away, just living vicariously like this. The bells are just gorgeous. The sconces look fabulous - I don't think I would have thought to contact Amazon - good on you. Have a wonderful week, my friend!

  3. Your scones are lovely. I know what you mean about instruction sheets. I bought a cardboard gift box from IKEA that needed assembly. How hard could it be? Pretty hard! The instructions had 10 steps! I finally gave up and my husband came to my rescue. It took him a few minutes even after carefully reading the instructions and looking at the pictures. Sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving with your family. Loved all the Christmas things you showed us. Martha Stewart still has it! I remember watching her Christmas specials on tv every year. I was so disappointed when her magazine folded. I’ve kept a lot of her magazines over the years. Her earlier ones were better than her later ones. Enjoy your week. Hugs, Elaine

    1. I've heard horror stories about putting things together purchased from Ikea...lol. Our closest Ikea location is in Halifax....just as well....lol! I've been a huge reader of Country Sampler magazine for years...since the 80's! They are still publishing...but the issues are not the same....I don't care for them at all! And they use to have Country Sampler Farmhouse & Country Sampler Home....those have been discontinued! I suspect it's a matter of time before they fold....sadly. :(. I do love the sconces....after all the trouble they were! Have a wonderful week & (((hugs)))
