Beautiful Day on the Mainland

Mr. Seventies & I were in three provinces the other day....a stop in Nova Scotia to meet up with daughter....then off to New Brunswick for some retail therapy....

The toll booths for taking the Confederation Bridge....incidentally the toll for the bridge, up until a few months ago was $52.50 for a passenger vehicle. (round trip).

No exceptions....whether you were an Island resident or not....everyone paid that amount to cross in their vehicle.  For years it was promised tolls would be lowered.....and finally the cost was lowered to $20!   A substantial savings!

We are so grateful to have the bridge.....after years of depending on a ferry to shuttle us back and forth....always having to plan around a crossing schedule....ferry cancellations due to high winds, ice in the Northumberland Straight.....or mechanical issues.   But I digress....

The view as you pull up to the toll booths....look at that sky!

Daily commuters, truck drivers & others have E-passes....making it quick for them to drive thru the tool booths....but line ups are usually rare..  A little ways onto the bridge....maintenance work was being done...but we were able to pass through quickly.....unless you are in a high sided vehicle or bus....you really can't see over the sides of the bridge.....it's a quick 12-13 minute crossing....speed limit is controlled....

First stop once we arrived.....hit the mall!  I picked up a couple of things at Bath & Body Works....rumours are circling we are supposed to have a shop coming here....with on line shopping I don't feel left out....

Since it was well past lunch time....we decided to eat at one of our favourite spots (we do have this restaurant at home).....it serves mainly breakfasts until 3:00 p.m. daily....the food is amazing....

After a bite to eat....we shopped around American Eagle store....(one of my favourites).  I'm hoping we someday have one come to us....in the meantime I found two pair of wide leg denim capris....and this sweater....

The main reason I visited the store....I was in hopes of picking up a sweatshirt & short set...sadly none were available!  Thanks to on-line shopping I was able to order the set I wanted....in the colour I was searching for..  I purchased a hoodie for Mr. Seventies...years ago....and he still wears it!

Then on to.....Marshalls!!  (we do not have this store....).  I mentioned before....if Home Sense & Winners had a yard sale....they would call is Marshalls!  (but selection & prices are so good there)....

And I found not one but two sweaters here.....(I'm all about warmth in the winter months)....this one...heart be still!   And look at those decorative buttons on the cuffs.....*swoon*......

I have this sweater's "big sister"....... longer and with bell sleeves....and I practically live wearing it!  When I saw this one....I had to "add to cart"...... not to everyone's taste.....but certainly mine.....

I am kicking myself for not taking this pretty cardigan.....(available for $158 Canadian at Nordstrom's - no thanks).....it was under $40 at Marshall's!!  I'm going to check Winners here.....they might have it.  I ignored my own rule "when in doubt...buy".  (it can always be returned).   I know better...

Then....(and this should come as no surprise)..... a stop at Home Goods!  This store is much larger (and more selection) than ours....I love visiting this location.....

And look at the first thing that I found!  I would not pay the $34.99 price tag.....but it is adorable just the same.....

I'm not purchasing any stuffies or soft toys for our pup....too much risk of ingesting....am sticking with durable chew toys instead....but this cutie was awesome to find.....

And who doesn't love a Highland Cow bunny?  Those ears tho....

Cute mugs....they are the size I like...I didn't get them as we have so many mugs now....

This vase was selling for $24.99.....I've seen it at Inspired Living here....I know their price tag is much higher tho....

I want to share some pretty icicles that formed from melting snow off our roof....Mr. Seventies has since knocked them down....there were on the back side of the house as well....one was over 3 feet long!

I'd been wanting a clothes rack (for hanging laundered sweaters not suited for the dryer)....Mr. Seventies picked up this one.  It is very sturdy....remember the wooden ones?  Ugh.  They are a pain to use....this one is awesome...

So that is all the news from here!  Thanks for being here today & spending a bit of your time with me....

Til next time....

  1. You had a lovely day out, Charlotte. Thanks for sharing it with us. Loved all those pretty sweaters. Your icicles were pretty. I remember as kids we used to suck them. We didn’t know any better, lol, but lived to tell the tale. Hugs, Elaine
