Isn't wonderful we are into March? It's quite cold here today..... the next few days we will be into some frigid windchills! -25 C windchill currently.....but there is light at the end of the tunnel....right?
I was hoping to have a puppy update today.....I do have a small one. I was messaging with the breeder ....(to refresh your memory, he co-owns the puppies Mama)..... they were born in Manitoba. Currently they are now located in Ontario....and the evaluation was to take place over the weekend. (to determine show quality from companion quality). The breeder was doing the evaluation - not sure if that is in person, on zoom or how that is being done). I am waiting to hear how it went.
That's as much as I know currently. When that changes....I'll be sure and update. The pups are eight weeks old today.....in the beginning I was advised they don't leave Mama until they are 9-10 weeks of age.
In the meantime.....we purchased & set up a puppy playpen! Never had one before.....but we've never had a pup this young......both Liesel & Schatzi were four months old when they arrived......Oskar was two and Xena was eight years old. This pen is from Amazon.....and the colourful mats were left overs from grand daughter's play mats....
Mr. Seventies used strong tape on the backs to hold them together....nine mats fit perfectly.....
Covered the mats with some training pads...a blanket & Mr Seventies placed my dachshund cushion inside....until the real one arrives. We're hopeful the pen will help with housetraining.....mostly used when we can't have eyes on him/her.....
One item I remembered I needed was a water bowl that attaches to a wire crate.....which we will set up in the kitchen & place the pup inside if we have appointments, errands to attend to....
The bowl attaches to the crate.....held in place by screwing it on .....we had a couple previously but they were donated along with all our other dog items....
As soon as I have an arrival date....I plan to visit the veterinary clinic down our road to determine when we need a check up, immunizations, & whatever else is required ...... head to Bone & Biscuit & determine a diet for this pup....set up pet insurance for future vet visits & research local puppy socialization & obedience classes to attend....it's going to be a busy spring!
A couple of t-shirts I ordered.....this pretty one is for me, along with a couple of pair of dachshund earrings & the other.....for Mr. Seventies.....
I was searching for something in one of the kitchen cabinets.....and came across this adorable set I forgot I had found at the thrift store a number of years ago....I set them on the countertop range.....
Since it's Monday...... please join me later today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphosis Monday and again tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesday.....
So glad you are here today.....thanks so much for that!
Til next time.....

DeleteHi Charlotte. Spring is in the air and the pup's arrival is imminent - the stars must be aligning! You must be so excited and I am excited for you. It looks like you have everything you need and under control. The shirts are adorable. Sorry to hear about Mr. Seventies' hernia - my hubs had one and the results from surgery were amazing. Hope his wait time isn't too long either. Happy March my friend, and please keep us updated (I know you will lol).
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kim! The excitement is building, for sure! Very happy to hear your husband's surgery for a hernia went well...we are hoping for the same outcome! Happy March, my friend!!
