The clinic is very close to our house.....making it very handy for us. I've heard great reviews from other pet owners....hoping we have great experiences! Our breeder provided one month free pet insurance through Trupanion & we extended coverage for Clancy once the free trial period is up.
Insurance will cover 90% of major veterinary procedures, diagnostic services, surgery (not spay/neuter) with a $200 deductible amount.....with IVDD back surgery well above the $10,000 range....insurance is a very wise decision! Dachshunds are prone to IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) where discs in their spine can rupture...causing compression on the spinal cord...causing excruciating pain & loss of usage of their back legs....and sometimes urine & bowel functions....
Our first three dachshunds.....all suffered IVDD episodes.....two with ruptures requiring surgery.....and one spent a week at our veterinary hospital & treated with rest, pain medications & anti-inflammatories. Surgeries then were about $2,500.....and $3,000 for a five day stay at the vet hospital. Now, as with everything...the cost has pretty much tripled! Our grand dog required back surgery six years ago....$5,000 was the bill! So having pet insurance was an easy decision.
Mama has a nail appointment this morning....Mr. Seventies is able to putter outside a bit doing yard work & raking. He sees the surgeon in May for a recheck & is doing really well.
Wishing you an awesome day.....
Til next time....
