Welcome June!!

Thought we'd never get here...but here we are...officially in June!  And it couldn't be more welcome!  Restrictions are easing today...we are now into Phase III of getting back to some semblance of normal living.  Face masks, hand sanitizing and social distancing have become our way of life.  Visitors are still restricted to the Island....essential travel on and off only.  Cruise ships will not be allowed to dock until October 31st...many of the downtown shops near the port will feel the loss of revenue.
But to keep us all healthy and safe...these and many other measures must be taken.  Such is life....we have no cases of Covid 19...and wish to keep it that way.

Our tulips are blooming their buds off!  And I've picked numerous bouquets....Mr. Seventies can never plant enough tulip bulbs for me! In the coming weeks he will have about 5-6 yards of black mulch delivered to fill in the gardens...

There are a few more tulips around the deck at the back of the house....

The weather the past week was amazing...warm, windy & sunny!  Mr. Seventies took advantage of the warm days and is staining the lattice, dog ramps & pool deck walls.  Once those are done...the deck floors and steps will be given a fresh coat...and we can set out our wicker furniture!

The pool has been opened...a new pump installed and first water testing completed...this is how our green pool of ick looked before....

The water is much clearer now....with one round of shock and chlorine pucks.  Ms. Wanda Whale (pool vacuum) will be called into service in a couple of days...to clean the bottom of silt and debris.  With a couple of windy days blowing buds & leaves into the pool...we've been busy scooping.  A bit too early to put on the solar blanket....

I ventured out for a brief shopping excursion...new bath, hand towels and face cloths we in much need...a quick trip around Home Sense and I was out the door.  They are limiting the number of shoppers allowed in the store...and I had a purpose in mind...I didn't take time to roam about and check anything out....

We did require a new garden flag...so I popped into a local discount store...this one seemed aptly appropriate...and on clearance...even better...

I chuckled when I saw this little sign....describes Mr. Seventies to a T!!

I was super excited to find these place mats!!  They match my buffalo check table runner perfectly!!  And are easy wipe clean....can't wait to use them.  Update on the benches for the kitchen table - delivery expected tomorrow!!  Yay!!!

And lastly...any Outlander obsessed fans out there?  Well...I am!  And look what arrived last week!  I was...many years ago....an avid reader!  And for some strange reason...I got away from reading...I tried.  Oh I tried...but I appeared to have the attention span of a knat!  I just could not stay focused!

I'm thinking it was my choice of reading material.  My preference in books has changed...as I've already delved into Book 1 of the series...and loving it!!  While Mr. Seventies stained outside...I plunked down in a lawn chair...and got lost in all things Outlander!!  I've watched all 5 seasons as well...three times!!   Did I mention I was obsessed?  Little bit....amybe??

The books are not new...but in great condition...and soft cover, which was my preference.  Easy to toss in a satchel without weighing as much...and I can sneak in reads here & there!  It has been a long time dream of mine to visit Scotland (being of Scottish ancestry).  Mr. Seventies and I have agreed...barring Covid or any health issues...we will plan a trip there.  I don't like to fly...but will suck it up for a few hours to see the beautiful country of Scotland.    And I would love to try a dram of Sassenach Scotch whiskey!!  Just a wee one...

Hope the sun is out where you are today!
