Snowmageddon 2024!!!

It started snowing here Friday afternoon...and the winds blew hard all weekend...the Confederation Bridge to the mainland closed to all traffic!!  A major storm system is staying with us...it persisted through Saturday & Sunday.... not much is moving here today.

Winds are high...so clean up is futile.  They had pulled snow plows off secondary roads yesterday...many vehicles abandoned as people attempted to get home.  Schools & businesses remain closed.  Snow has stopped, but what is down...is wreaking havoc on visibility with the winds....

Last count over 68 cm-that's almost 27" of snow was down!  While Mr. Seventies shovelled a bit to get Liesel out....I snapped a few photos....the back walkway...large snow drifts...

We had little to no snow before this storm arrived!!  Parts of Nova Scotia are in a state of emergency with the amount of snow there!!

There is a pool underneath all that snow!!  Next summer's swimming water!!

The front of the house....and the front lawn....

Hope my Amazon driver brings a shovel!!  Our neighbour will bring his snow blower and clean the front walkway...but everything is on hold until the winds die down....

Such are the dog days of winter...

So...that is what's been happening here!  Our power stayed on...very few power outages reported across the Island...

Needless to say...we will be a few days clearing snow out.  Bless our snow blower guy - large farm tractors  with blowers attached are used here to clear snow from driveways....we've had the same guy for many years...he does an amazing job.  Businesses and office rely on huge plows to clear their parking lots...

Costs for clearing driveways run about $400-$450 for the winter...he is great at coming by 2-3 times a day...and keeps the end of the driveway cleared out and widened as well.  We live on a main road...so the provincial plows keep it clear.  We make certain to pull the SUV up to the end of the driveway...so our blower guy can blow snow out of the way....

I'll be sharing today over at Between Naps on the Porch https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!!

And again on Tuesday with Marty at https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire me Tuesday and Lyndsey at Perfectly Imperfect https://perfectlyimperfect-lwl.com/ for Happy Hearts and Home!!

That is all from our snowy front!  Thanks so much for stopping by...til next time!!

  1. Oh my goodness Charlotte! I had heard that Atlantic Canada was in for some nasty weather, but had no idea it would be this bad. Your snow drifts are huge and that one in front of the door - wow! How on earth will you get out? I'm so glad to hear that you have a friend with a snow blower as it would take days to shovel all that out. Good luck my friend and take care over there.

  2. Hi Kim!! It's been a brutal storm-although in 2015 - we had 80 cm dumped on us! Hubby was able to shovel out the front walk...and clear the door/step area...all good for now. Schools are closed again today - still on the windy side! Hope all is well with you & yours!! Take good care.

  4. Oh gosh! Thankfully you didn't lose power though!! We haven't had a snowstorm like that since my boys were quite little... and I don't miss it at all. Cleanup can be so tough when there is so much of it and no where for it all to go!
