Catching Up!

How's everyone doing if your time changed on the weekend?  We "sprung forward" an hour...I wish they would stop changing it!  I prefer this time...as the evenings are lighter and the mornings are lighter earlier!   Every year there is talk of not switching the clocks....yet every year it's done.  Frustrating,

Another thing that is frustrating?  Freezing rain!  And power outages!  We had a couple of days of high winds & freezing rain....

When I stepped outside to snap a couple of photos....I almost didn't get back in!  The outside door handle was frozen solid!   Required my boot to bang the ice off!!

Our power flickered a few times, thankfully didn't go out.  We had flashlights, candles and battery operated radio idling just in case...

When we lose power...we bunk out in the downstairs family room....and turn on the propane stove for heat....

Thankfully, the temperatures warmed up...and it took a couple of days for the ice to melt off.  Today...it's raining....

My weight loss continues to go well.... 42 pounds down so far!  I hadn't weighed myself in a few weeks...so stepped on the scales the other day.  Last weigh in I was down 38 pounds....so I'm still going in the right direction.  Mr. Seventies dropped another small bag of clothes that no longer fit at the thrift store. I keep weeding them out...

My knee is a bit better...I am able to put weight on my leg & walk.  I continue to pick up a few items of clothes I ordered online.  I'm still unsure of sizing...some I require a medium...others a large...

I love this outfit...I'll wear a t-shirt under the vest....

I'm crushing on the colour of this top - green tends to be my go colour lately!!  It's strange how I'm attracted to red...and it looks terrible on me...so I shy away from it....

And my go to bottoms...jeans!!   These are not my usual style...but ordered a pair & will see
what I think...

My neighbour dropped in for a visit the other day...she's just been diagnosed with Type II diabetes and prescribed Metformin - common medication.   I shared tips & info ...and advised she will be required to test daily....at least for a time.  Testing will help monitor what foods spike her blood sugars.  For me...it's carbs....I limit my intake.  I no longer test at home...as my sugars are monitored at a clinic & my levels are great....and controlled with diet and walking....

I hope to hit the thrift stores this week...see what goodies I can find!  There are a number of people who buy....and resell.  That requires more patience than I possess!

I'm sharing today over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ and again tomorrow at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays and https://perfectlyimperfect-lwl.com/ for Happy Hearts & Homes.  and lastly https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday....

Reminder - Be sure and leave a comment to be entered in the give away!  If you comment anonymously...I don't think I'll be able to enter your name!  When leaving a comment....hit the arrow beside the "comment as" section and click on name - they type in a name....even just a first name.  I want everyone who enters to have a chance to win!!!

Til next time....

  1. Congratulations on your weight loss. Even with a good medical reason to lose it's really hard to keep making the choices that we know we should make. It sounds like it's paying off for your health and your your clothes size. Maybe the wallet not so much but still fun.

    1. Hi Iris!! Thank you for your congratulations! Lord knows I have medical reasons to get the weight off...lol. But it is not easy you are so right!! I'm trying to keep my clothing purchases to a dull roar, as I would like to lose another 20 or so pounds. It's a journey though...not a sprint is my motto!!

  2. Wow Charlotte - that weight loss is fantastic! Kudos to you for sticking to it, although when the pounds drop, it becomes incentive in an of itself. That's a cute jean outfit and that green top is such a pretty color. I hope they both look great on you. Glad to hear the knee is better and sorry about all the freezing rain - it's such a pain and dangerous too. Take care over there my friend!

  3. Great job on your weight loss! I am so thankful that we have not had any ice storms (yet!) this year. I don't love the snow either but I'll take that over ice any day. Glad to hear you didn't lose power!

    1. Thank you, Joanne!! I am not a fan of ice storms..feel the same about snow! Ice storms with winds are almost a guarantee for power loss! We lucked out this time...others here were not so fortunate!

  4. I have a denim skirt very similar to that one and I have found that I love how versatile it is! Brr! Our winter in Georgia was not that cold this year and I never did end up wearing my puffer jacket. Still hoping for snow next year, lol!
