Christmas In July!!

My friend picked me up & we enjoyed a browse around our favourite (well...one of them..) home decor store!!  Who doesn't love a Christmas in July sale??

The sale was a two day event....and since I was still unable to drive...(three more days til that ends)....we decided to make an afternoon of it!!  Lots of pretty cardinals on hand...

There was a great buy on Christmas cushions....my friend was able to score two of these...

This tiered tray could be used year round....there are three little legs on the bottom....luv it!!!

These snowmen are adorable...and squish ably soft!  The resemble birch...but are really lightweight...

Nothing more needs to be said...lol..

I'm crushing on these wooden pieces....

And may have brought a few home with me...

My whole reason for taking in the sale....these awesome Christmas bells!  They sold out in a blink last year...and I was determined to pick up three!!

Success!!  I plan to tie them together with rope & perhaps hang them off the side of the fireplace during the holidays...

I feel the Grinch craze of last year has had its time....but there were a few pieces available...for anyone who still loves a Very Grinchmas Christmas...

These candle holders look like wood, right?  They are actually ceramic...I prefer they be wooden....but they are still great pieces!!

There's a back room in the shop which is all bedding...quilts, sheets and every size bed pillow a person would need...I saw a couple of these Kate Spade quilt sets going out the door...

My friend obsessed over this sofa for quite some time!  It's a beautiful, Canadian made piece...very well constructed with gorgeous, durable fabric!!  She mentioned some "people" advised her against choosing a "coloured" sofa...but to stick with a neutral....such as beige, grey or brown!  Yawn!  Who are these people? And are they going to live in your home?

No?  Then buy what "you" love!  It's your home...and you can easily switch out your accessories & sofa cushions.   So go ahead...purchase that blue sofa!!  Don't deny what your heart wants....

That just about concludes our celebration of Christmas in July!  The store was starting to get busy...we paid for our goodies and headed out the door!   I wish they would bring in some fall & Halloween awesomeness...and plan to ask the owner to see if he can accommodate  (he's a great guy..)....

The valances for the kitchen arrived & I'm obsessed with them!  I waited before ordering curtain rods....I chose two of these  3/4" round black ones. (since there are two kitchen windows).  The rods will need to be placed above the window frames...there is little room over the window above the kitchen sink as a cabinet so close to the window frame...and need to accommodate that....

And....this little cutie is celebrating her 10th birthday today!!  I cannot believe how the years have gone by so quickly...

An adorable baby pic...when she was still with her breeder in Ontario...just look at that face!!!

Here she is not long after her arrival...heading out for an evening walk with her big brother, Oskar.  How adorable are they in their cozy sweaters??

For those who don't know...she was four months old when she came to us.  At six weeks old she had to undergo life saving surgery to remove a hair follicle that had taken root in her eye!   Her dedicated breeder spent over $2,200 as putting her "down" was not an option!  And we are grateful every day for her heartfelt decision.  Anyone who says they "breed for the money".... is dead wrong.  Good breeders dedicate their lives for betterment of the breed....and our breeder was no exception!

And our little wire hair today!  She's got a few more silver highlights (but then...so do I)....and loves going in the car...we take her 99% of the time...when one of us can wait in the car with her.  She is never, ever left unattended in our SUV....

Along with a couple new toys...this new Ruffwear harness is on order!  Now...I am a true believer in supporting local.... this same harness at the pet supply store is $66.99 + taxes.  The exact same harness on Amazon..$42.99 + taxes  Easy decision.... I ordered from Amazon....

And since it's Monday...please join me later over at https://betweennapsontheporch.net/ for Metamorphis Monday!

And tomorrow a couple more great link parties with Marty at https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday and Joanne at https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays!!!

It's going to be a hot one here today....definately a pool day!!  (my brain has been in "fall" mode though).  How about you?  Are you seeing any fall decor where you are?

Thank you for spending a bit of your time with me....and til next time...

Quick Trip Around The Thrift Store

I enjoyed a little outing the other day & visited the thrift store!  It wasn't a long excursion....but wonderful to get out just the same!

I don't know why I found these little snails adorable!  Kind of wishing I had gotten them...although not sure I had a purpose for them...and there was two of them!

And who doesn't love a pair of turtles??  Hard to resist right?

And I'd say someone's project in ceramic class!   Who doesn't appreciate an adorable pig mug tho...

The one on the left is an electric candle warmer....you set a glass jar candle in it, plug it in & it will heat up the candle with no flame involved.  The other was not electric...but a candle holder....

The original price on the back of this ceramic platter was $9.99....thinking it could have been priced a couple of dollars lower....but we all know the prices in thrift stores these days....

There was a stack of these pie plates available!  If ever I was struck with the urge to bake a pie...this is the pie plate I would want!! (99.9% sure that urge isn't going to strike btw)....

I didn't have a great deal of time to browse....as Mr. Seventies was idling in the parking lot!  Even being assured to take my time....I cannot when someone is waiting for me!  Only 6 days left on my driving restriction...I cannot wait to be able to get around myself!!

We spent the most amazing day with our daughters, their husbands & our grand children!  The day was perfect, the barbecue was delicious....and we had fun splashing around in the pool & catching up!  I didn't want the day to end!

Daughter from Nova Scotia brought the Gripstand bowl I purchased on Marketplace from a seller in her town.  I have room for one more atop my cabinets!!!  The one on the far right is the newest addition...

I finally found a set of these Pioneer Woman coffee mugs!  (they have been discontinued I'm pretty sure).   Once sold at Wal Mart....they are never available in store or their website.  I've seen them also in white & teal...they are as rare to find as hen's teeth!!  I've currently have a red set of four....they are our go-to mugs....but four is just not enough!

When I came across them on eBay.ca ....I submitted an offer & once accepted...they were quickly shipped & are on their way!!   Now we will have a set of eight!!

Showers are in the forecast today....Mr. Seventies has been recruited to install new faux wood blinds in daughter's home....I've offered to launder & press (now that I have starch) her curtain panels.  Tomorrow is looking like the perfect line drying day!

I took advantage of a previously warm day & sun to launder our feather bed pillows & finish drying them in the hot sun!  (after time spent in the dryer).....

Have you been watching the news reports about the wild fires in Alberta?  My heart breaks for the residents and wildlife in & around Jasper!  We spent a few days in the beautiful town of Jasper during our trip to Alberta...it reminded me so much of the little village I was raised in.  Jasper is a "railroad" town...as was my home town.  As a child, I fell asleep each night  to the sounds of trains coming & going....Jasper was like going home!  Wild fires cause such damage & destruction....very, very sad....

Please keep Jasper in your prayers....thanks so much for spending a bit of your time with me.  Til next time....

More Of My Favourite Finds

As I'm still unable to get out & about on my own....for another couple of weeks...I've had time to do some ordering of all things fall!  Whether it's in the stores or online, things tend to sell out quickly & if you don't order or pick up when you see something you are interested in....it could be gone in a poof!

I am looking forward to seeing the fall goodness in the stores in the coming weeks though....but in the meantime I've ordered a few things on line.  Like this round tray at Michael's...using a 40% off coupon...it's a generous size...

I have plans to use it when decorating for fall & Hallowe'en...but in the meantime it sits on the deacon's bench....

I've been crushing on these dutch ovens for a while now & decided it was time I purchased one!  While I love each colour....I chose one in orange....it's a generous fifteen inches in height.  The Staub one I currently have is much smaller...nothing says you cannot have something larger....

I almost chose to DIY a couple of these ghosts using a tomato cage, styrofoam ball & mini lights under a white sheet, as seen all over You Tube....but Pottery Barn Canada had sets of two that beckoned me!  Can't wait to have them on display on the hearth.   Yup....I'm obsessed....

I came across this adorable chicken for my cabinet!  The colours are awesome...I'm certain I can squeeze her in...

I had a sweater similar to this before my weight loss & loved wearing it when out & about.  I ordered this one in a size medium for this fall...

Mr Seventies had the misfortune, while detailing the SUV....of having two vacuums quit!  He uses an old Dirt Devil for cleaning the vehicle....and in mid clean - it quit working.  He decided to finish the job....using our Miele canister vacuum.  He didn't get into cleaning with it long, when it succumbed as well!  It was getting on in years...we've had it for a while.  He is convinced there is fault with the outside plug...and will have an electrician check it out before using it again.

That left us with no vacuum!  We decided for now to pick up a Bissell canister from Wal Mart to use until we decide which vacuum we wish to go with for the main part of the house.  Since we have mostly hardwood & tile floors...the bagless canister vacuums work well.   While I absolutely love the Miele...and they are worth every penny....they are very expensive.  Do we want to invest in another one?   Need to consider a couple more options...so went with this one in the meantime....

We are having a family day tomorrow!  Both daughters & their families are coming for a pool day & visit!  I'm so looking forward to it....and the weather looks promising!!

When The Going Gets Tough...

The tough go shopping....online!  Right?  Since I'm not out & about these days...(surprised the stores haven't been calling...)....I've come across some amazing deals on line!

Did you purchased anything good during Prime Days?  I picked up a few small items...kicking myself for not ordering the Egyptian cotton sheets I love!  They were marked down about $30 a set...ugh...and I didn't order!  I'm regretting that decision..however I did order a set of these awesome flameless candles...with a remote & rechargeable!  I hope they are good quality...stay tuned...

Because the prices were great on the face wash & moisturizer I use (with an SPF)...I ordered both....

And cuticle oil...which sells for about $4-$5 more for a small bottle at Wal Mart....(works great for keeping cuticles soft & helps with keeping your nails strong & healthy)......I ordered a couple to have on hand...

And that was my total order during Prime Days!  There really wasn't much I needed...

The patio umbrella on the small deck is beginning to fade from the sun...although it still works perfectly!  When you come across a good deal...you jump on it!  This one was available at Wal Mart for $140 off the price - (even less than I spent last year for the one we have)....I ordered to have on hand when a replacement is required....

And fall dish towels...a set of two I can hang on the refrigerator door handle...printed along the bottom of each one Happy Fall Y'all is printed!

I have a plan for a set of these candlesticks for fall as well...it involves pumpkins....I'll share when my idea comes together....

I'm crushing on this pretty sweater in a size Medium...so cozy for fall!  Fingers crossed it will fit when it arrives....

I'm thinking of adding these little valances in the kitchen...I need three...two for the window over the sink and one for the other smaller window.....

I plan to use black rods....these come in a set of two from Amazon.  They will be hung on the wall above the window frames....I needed to measure to confirm I have room for Mr. Seventies install them.  And there is enough room (since there are cabinets on either side of the window over the sink)....

I've made no secret how much I love candles & tarts!  While I have a decent supply on hand....I couldn't resist ordering a couple of these adorable candles from an awesome Etsy seller!  I can't wait to have one burning in the kitchen!  And they are adorable!!

And....I won a free subscription to my favourite magazine!!!  I entered a contest on Country Sampler magazine website...and my name was chosen!!  I've always wondered if anyone wins...now I know!!

I don't currently subscribe...as issues are available in stores here much earlier than arriving by mail from the U.S., but free is free!   I'll try to be patient & wait for each issue to arrive!

Yesterday was a day spent "in camp"...... as it rained a bit off & on all day.  Today the sun & hot temperatures return....and for the next few days it is forecasted....

Have an awesome day where you are.....and til next time....

Summer Is In Full Swing!

We've been enjoying hot, hot temperatures & loving it!  Days spent relaxing & cooling off in the pool...especially when grand-baby joins us!  The weather is looking hot & humid for the next week or so!

I'm crushing on this basket from Bouclair....since the closest store is on the mainland... I ordered from their website...and it arrived in a matter of days...how adorable is this?

I set it on top of my dish cabinet...and will put a flameless candle inside to light up at night!  With the longer evenings....we've been spending most of our time outside....

I'm thrilled with my Fiesta jug found on FB Marketplace...it is exactly the colour I was hoping to find!  The seller accepted my offer -I paid less than half of the retail price these go for!

I'm happy to report the container for dishwasher pucks is a generous size & holds a large supply of them!  It sits on the counter...close to the dishwasher and within easy reach....

Today Liesel has a grooming appointment...just in time to strip her down & keep cool!  She has been in the pool...while I'm sure it feels good...she does not like water!!  We began administering two medications her veterinarian prescribed for her tummy woes...and while we're not claiming a victory, we're seeing an improvement in her appetite...and much less vomiting.

She is great to take her meds...we call them "treats"....one is pill form, the other liquid.  We cannot believe this precious face will turn ten the end of this month!!   The years have flown by....

The vegetable garden is thriving...we enjoyed fresh picked peas with barbecued chicken, new potatoes and delicious strawberry shortcake!  This is such a great time of year for fresh veggies!  And the flower gardens are in full bloom...Mr. Seventies clematis is thriving...our daughter gifted him this one...after many years of growing failures finally success....and there are two rose bushes blooming as well....

And tomorrow I will be sharing at https://www.astrollthrulife.net/ for Inspire Me Tuesday and https://www.myslicesoflife.com/ for Talking About It Tuesdays.....
