Fall Finds

Some stores are setting our their fall home decor...already!  I saw where one store had sold out of summer patio furniture and decor...and was setting up Christmas trees and decor!  Rather than have empty floor space...I presume.  Some peeps prefer not to see fall and/or Christmas in July...it matters not to me...I have seen back to school items on display already...and not sure what classes are even going to look like this year due to Covid 19!   Home Sense shelves are all but empty...I'm not sure if it's worth them being open....although I did pick up an ecru coverlet for the master bedroom.

I still enjoy browsing all the fall goodies...such as these signs...a mixture of some wood..,.some tin...

I'm crushing hard on these plate chargers...I just might have to pick up a few when they go on sale...

A pretty fall plate...and the same bathtub I already have...only in a pumpkin spice colour!

I wish they had large tobacco baskets in stock...I've been wanting a big one...so keeping my eyes open...they may just not have had them put out yet...

And yes...I know...its a Christmas pick!!  But...it's a dachshund! I picked it up for little Annabelle's first Christmas tree this upcoming December!  And of course I used a coupon on my phone...

Fall is my favourite time of year...those cool months leading up to Christmas....and of course Christmas.  I ordered some fall dinnerware...and its melamine!  I've never used melamine before...it's dishwasher safe..so that is a must.  I have glassware and mugs that will match...since they do not come with the sets...(I ordered two sets)...

So pretty...and we will get some great use from them...and they will make for a gorgeous fall table setting!!

On another note...some beautiful lillies blooming in the gardens...look at these gorgeous pops of yellow!

Smaller variety...but pack a punch of colour....

And a couple of my favourite....hollyhocks!!

The weather is forecast to be warm for the weekend!  Looking forward to a lot of being outside, barbecues and pool time!

Have an awesome weekend where ever you are!!

Enjoying Summer

With the very warm temps and high humidity...most days are spent on the outside decks and cool dips in the pool.  Meals are easy...barbecues and fresh strawberry shortcakes!  Summers are so short...we take advantage of each day!  The potatoes in the vegetable garden are in blossom...so delicious, new potatoes will be on our menu shortly!

The faux cupcakes arrived!  They look so real..Mr. Seventies was a bit disappointed he couldn't enjoy one!

I ordered them in a couple of colours...some pink...the others a teal colour...

Placed a few on my sunflower tiered tray as well...

As a side note..I happen to purchase the rooster/chicken statue on Facebook Marketplace a while back for $20.  I recently saw the exact same one...listed on e-bay for a total...including shipping of $150!!  Yikes!!

I have an abundance of lavender this year...and the scent is incredible!  I have a couple of bouquets drying...and enjoying their fragrance in the meantime...

Today I plan to don my face mask and drop into Michaels and Home Sense..it's been a while since I've perused their aisles.

And hopefully visit with my Grumpy Cat...who is making a remarkable recovery!  She is so close to rolling over on her own...a joy to watch.  One determined little tyke-ster for sure!  We look forward to the day the feeding tube can be removed...

Hope you enjoy your days as well!!

Exterior Doors Refresh

The front and back exterior doors were looking a bit faded...especially the one on the front as it gets full sun from about early afternoon on...

Because we had the paint on hand all that was required was time...it was early evening when I took this photo...and the sun had passed behind me.  We get so many compliments on the colour...and nothing makes a more welcome statement like a bold, friendly front door....

And since Mr. Seventies was on a roll (pun intended)...and we still had paint to use up...he gave the back entrance door a couple of coats as well.  The door was previously painted the same colour as our deck walls (Tibetian Orange by Behr)...but since we had the paint already...we decided to do a refresh of this door as well...

Mr. Seventies was also busy working in our daughter's gardens and lawns...spreading bark mulch in her flower gardens, mowing the lawn....in anticipation of their arrival home.  Son-in-law and grand dog Benson came home yesterday and Annabelle and her Mom will arrive today via ambulance to our hospital here.  Hoping Annabelle, who is making an amazing recovery...will only be required to spend a day or two in the hospital...and finally be able to go home!  We are so excited to finally....after three months...have a healthy, happy baby girl!

Since she will no longer fit in her bassinet...she will sleep in her crib...in her nursery.  I picked up this adorable toy...which attaches to her crib...plays music and projects various patterns on the ceiling!

Going to be another hot, humid day here!  Loving this weather...even Liesel has been enjoying her dips in the pool to cool off!

I'll leave you with a precious little smile & hope it brightens your day!

This & That

Our weather has taken a change...for the wetter and cooler.  Which is okay...as we have needed rain.  Still looking forward to warmer, sunnier days though.  It's been a great time for Mr. Seventies and I to get a few small projects done around the house...first on the list of priorities was cleaning our large window in the family room.  The rest of our windows received a thorough cleaning after the road, in front of our house, was paved.  So it was time to tackle the biggest window...which requires a tall ladder and a bucket of vinegar and water!  Amazing how clean windows make such a huge difference!

One thing I noticed, was our small outdoor light fixture...and how it was showing signs of rust.  I debated replacing it...but dug in my stash and found a can of Dark Bronze spray paint...a couple of coats and a few hours later...a fresh looking light fixture...

Remember the shelf I purchased a few months back at the antique/junk shop?  It already had one coat of light, greenish paint on it...while digging in my stash I came across a small container of paint that I had purchased (for what I cannot remember)...so decided to use it on the shelf....

And I am loving how it turned out!  Mr. Seventies securely hung it for me...and it holds containers of bath salts and bath bombs....and pink just happens to be one of my favourite colours!!

While Mr. Seventies had some errands to run...I browsed Michaels for a bit...can you believe what is out on the shelves already??

Now, I love fall...it is my favourite time of year...but can we please have summer first?  Not that I didn't enjoy browsing all the fall decor....

I did not get the urge to haul out my fall decor just yet...usually by the first of September I'm yearning for cool, fall days....

So, let's leave fall where it belongs for now...and it's not in July!

We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful fire pit early yesterday evening...before a shower came in...and not a marshmallow in sight!!

Oh and btw...look what arrived!!  Remember the original faux muffins I ordered...but never materialized?  Can no longer say that!  Not only do they look like the real thing....but they smell amazing...like fresh baked muffins!!  Do they not look good enough to eat?  I have other faux cupcakes on order...which I can switch out when the mood strikes!!

Our grand baby continues to thrive..and possibly could be transported back to our hospital, as early as next week!  This just makes our hearts soar..hopefully she will be able to go home soon....and we can lavish her with love!

Have an awesome day all!!

Transfer Fail 101

There are times when things just don't go according to plan!  Such when I really wanted to use beautiful, floral transfers for my cabinet re-do.

After waiting weeks for the transfers to arrive (apparently they were out of stock when I placed my order)...I was so anxious and excited to try them!  I followed the instructions to the letter...and where it stated they were easy to peel off if things didn't go according to plan....that was not the case.

Parts of the pattern did not adhere...and when I attempted to reposition the transfer sheet and complete the pattern...parts ripped when I went to lift it off.   Since it supposedly was easy to remove..... this is what I was left with....not easy at all!!

So....yah...pretty disappointing.  Mr, Seventies was able to sand and repaint the damaged door front...and I'll save the remaining transfers for another day...and project.

If you remember...this was the cabinet before....with water damage on the top...

I am so happy with the results...even with the transfers not working out!  I buffed on a coat of wax to give it a durable, smooth finish....

Not only does the cabinet look amazing...there is ample storage underneath!

We are praying our little grand daughter's heart surgery goes ahead this morning and all goes well!  Please keep her and her Mom & Dad in your thoughts and prayers....

Grand Baby Update

I wrote in my post yesterday our grand baby (and her Mama) were being transported (by ambulance) to the IWK in Nova Scotia...where she is having heart surgery on Thursday.

They had barely gotten outside the city limits when Annabelle began choking...so much so the EMT were required to pull over and aspirate her very quickly.  The decision was made to turn back...return to our hospital...where she was fully assessed...and they quickly decided the safest plan of action was to have the Life Flight plane fly her and her Mama to the IWK.  (her Dad had left via vehicle...and was there to meet them when they arrived.

One of the amazing EMT snapped a few photos of our girl before she made her way to her flight...

As they were transporting her from the ambulance to the Life Flight plane at our airport...

A quick twenty five minute flight...met by an ambulance at the airport in Halifax...and they arrived safely at the hospital....where Annabelle was assessed and admitted.  She was having difficulty breathing...so oxygen was administered and she was a bit more comfortable.

Uncertain what today will hold for them...heart surgery is still scheduled for Thursday still..praying nothing changes in the meantime.

Daughter spent the night at Ronald McDonald House...an amazing "home away from home" for out of town family with sick children.   Since grand dog Benson is with them...her Dad is staying with family friends...but he & her Mama are at Annabelle's side at every possible moment.

Please keep our dear little one in your thoughts and prayers...

Out & About...And Other Things

I've taken my time going out & about...stores and businesses are open here...and we are opening up to the rest of the Maritimes on July 3rd...the are calling it the "Maritime bubble".   For us...personally...it will make things a bit easier for off Island travel...more on that a bit later...

A bit of retail therapy was required....popped into one of my favourite stores...and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of stock and great decor available...some stores are having to wait until their distributors and suppliers are up and running again...such as Home Sense...quite barren...usually this area is filled with furniture and home decor pieces...

A number of aisles are completely empty and blocked off...

Thankfully, this is all just temporary...and greatly appreciated they are advising shoppers of better days ahead...

The only item that caught my eye was this beautiful cushion...

Michaels, on the other hand...thankfully did not disappoint!  Gorgeous sunflower decor items!!

Okay...so this tray went immediately into my cart...too cute not to love it!!  And as always...had a coupon on my phone...

Hard to believe I left this beauty behind...not for lack of wanting it...but rather...no where to hang it.  But...oh it was difficult to leave her behind...

And this beautiful tray almost made it into my cart...likely when it comes on sale...it may make an appearance again...

Pretty much describes me...had to chuckle at this...

A brief update on the faux cupcakes I ordered...they've never arrived.  The seller refunded me fully...but I was very disappointed as I was looking forward to displaying them in my farmhouse tiered tray.  These were the ones I attempted to purchase...

Not to be thwarted...I tuned to Esty...and was not disappointed!   I found a seller (and there are many) who makes them...and her reviews are awesome.  I ordered four in the pink...and an additional four in the teal colour...

Do they not look good enough to eat?  Hard to believe they are not real!  Fingers crossed these ones will arrive successfully!

Also an update on the cute table from Wayfair for the front entry.  Arrived safe and sound...and fits the tight area perfectly...

I'm still waiting for the transfers I ordered to finish off the cabinet Mr. Seventies stained and painted...they were due to be delivered last Friday...but there was a "processing" issue...no clue what that means...but Canada Post has their own lingo...fingers crossed they arrive today!!

The weather has been amazing here the past couple of weeks...both our Wigelias are in full bloom...gorgeous soft pink flowers...

And this beautiful deep red one is just coming into bloom...such a gorgeous time of year!

Liesel had her first dip in the pool for this swim season...nothing better than a good towel roll after a cool off...in 30C degree pool water...

This is going to be a trying week for our family...our precious grand baby, with her Mama...are currently making their way via ambulance to the IWK in Halifax (her Daddy is following behind) ....where she is scheduled to undergo heart surgery on July 2nd...to close the hole in her heart.   Please keep our little one in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate these difficult times...

Depending on the duration of her stay and when travel restrictions are lifted.... her Grampie and Mimi may travel to Halifax to be on hand for support.   We love our little girl so...
