Fall Decor Packed Up & Put Away

Everything fall and/or Hallowe'en related has been safely wrapped and packed away for another year!  Two totes and a huge box were required....it appears I have collected a few pieces!

I must share an incident that occurred with a heavy wooden window frame (minus the glass) that hung to the left of the fireplace.  It came crashing down...and caused a bit of damage to the wall!  Huge gouges...and it was hung securely...or so we thought.  Repair wouldn't be a huge task....matching the paint on the other hand was an issue....as we had none left over....and could not find the paint chip anywhere in the house!  Every room colour accounted for.....except the family room!

I knew the brand of paint...and where we purchased it...so I took a good size scraping of paint off the wall...slid the piece into an envelope....and headed to the paint store!  It was not a problem to match it perfectly with the machine & technique they use....and within fifteen minutes I was headed home with a small can (sadly they don't sell sample sizes....but that's okay).   Once Mr. Seventies patched & sanded the damage...he rolled on two coats of fresh paint....and you would never know there had been a mishap.  And the wooden window frame...is in the fire pit wood pile!

The weather has been unseasonably warm here....and clean up on the property is almost complete.  One tree left to be taken down...flower beds and vegetable garden are cleaned out & ready for winter...leaves have been raked.....(compost for the gardens).

And the curtain panels arrived!  The fabric is gorgeous....exceeded my expectations!!

Mr. Seventies is a pro at installing them!  And I love my go-to curtain rod!!

Even prettier when the afternoon sun comes around....I'm loving this little room!

Daughter has requested new curtains for Christmas for her family room!  She didn't want a pattern...I think she will be very happy with the fabric I have chosen.  She doesn't want to see or install them until after she opens them at Christmas.  These panels are a linen/cotton blend...thick, durable, soft and semi-black-out.  The fabric allows light through without being able to see through.  She has thinner slat blinds on all the windows in her home....these will look beautiful when hung....

And I've ordered the required width and length to be hung properly!  Nothing drive me crazier than panels or draperies hung too short or that are not the right width!

That and toilet seat covers not being put down....but that is an issue for another day...lol!!  A little OCD perhaps....

When will curtain manufacturers realize 63" and 84" panel lengths are from the dark ages!!  No one has those size windows any more! If they ever did.  Thankfully, customization is available.

Mr. Seventies celebrated his birthday over the weekend!  He requested a cheesecake...and our awesome son-in-law was only too happy to accommodate...and whipped up a chocolate chip cheesecake masterpiece!  It was warm enough to enjoy a bar-be-que beforehand...and Mr. Seventies was very appreciative of the gifts and cards he received as well.

Today a municipal election for mayor and city counsellors is being held...we will do our civic duty & vote this morning.  I plan to do a bit more Christmas shopping this week...and we have an out of province travel planned for later in the month....

Join me at Between Naps on the Porch for  Metamorphosis Monday and again on Tuesday for Inspire Me Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life.  I love reading everyone's blogs that are shared on these pages...I know you will too!!

Thanks so much for sharing a bit of your day with me!  Until next time....

  1. Charlotte, this is soo pretty! The curtains are gorgeous and you did such a great job with this bedroom! And I'm so glad the clean-up on your property is just about done - that must feel really great (glad to hear about the awesome weather too - we had a nasty snowstorm and are having frigid temps in Calgary! I'm currently in Victoria and there is a blizzard here!) Enjoy your lovely weather and a great week!

  2. Thank you so much, Kim!! Ugh...snow!! It's just a matter of time before we get our first dusting...we've had unusually warm temps the past couple of months. Wow...a blizzard in Victoria...it appears we've switched weather with the west coast!!
