New Ash Vacuum - A Dud

Our old ash vacuum (used for cleaning cold ashes from pellet & wood stoves, fire places and grills) was in need of replacement.  We picked up a new one...which has features we really like...for one...a light on the attachment, longer electrical cord and hose...great looking piece of equipment...

And that's where it ends!  Since yesterday was a warmer, sunny day...it was the perfect opportunity to shut the pellet stove off and test out the new vacuum!  Plugged it in....and nothing.  Hmm....I triple checked to make sure everything was connected properly....re-read the manual three times...and gave it a second go.  Again...nothing.   There is basically only one way to make sure everything is connected properly....so I was baffled.

When Mr. Seventies arrived home....he went through the steps again.  With the same results...nothing.  Zip. Nada.  No power.  So, back in the box it went...I have my receipt...and will be returning it today. And not purchasing the same vacuum again.  Since I need to pick up an appliance bulb at Home Depot...I will pick up an ash vacuum there and fingers crossed we have better luck.

Baby's girls diaper bag/backpack arrived....this is the type her parents preferred...as it can leave their hands free when on the go with her!  There is so much room for her necessities....it''s well constructed with lots of pockets and durable zippers (and of course....dachshunds) ....front view.....

Back view....long back straps...which are adjustable.  Mom and Dad have given it a definite thumbs up!

The little Princess boxes for her upcoming baby shower arrived as well...I didn't have time to put one together....but they will be perfect for chocolates or kisses for her guests.  The twine for tying up each box is even included!

I dropped our furniture slipcovers off over the weekend for washing and pressing!  They can be done in my oversized washer and dryer...but it's the pressing or steaming out wrinkles that is a b*tch!  And they do such a beautiful job...and worth the $40 to have them do them!  The cushion covers can be done in my machines...they are super easy to zip off and wash & dry.  And require little to no ironing!    My daughter is wanting to have hers laundered as well...I've offered to drop hers off when I pick mine up.  Turn around time is three days or so. Worth the wait....

Yesterday was such a beautiful, much warmer sun filled day....Liesel took full advantage of the sun and propped herself up on her favourite perch....after a morning walk.  She has a "spa" day tomorrow...keep that between us...(actually she has an amazing groomer...and Liesel is very comfortable with her...which makes me comfortable leaving her for an hour)...

Much colder here today...back into the -20 windchills.  Bundle up if it's cold where you are!!
