Main Bath - Done For Now

Hurricane Lee was pretty much a no show here...which was a relief.  It was blustery...and rainy...but nothing we haven't received before.  No trees down or damage to anything on our property....and we didn't lose our power.  So...all in all...we escaped this storm.

The main bath is put together.  I kept it simple.   To refresh your memory....a couple of before photos...

There was some patching and sanding required prior to applying two coats of fresh paint.  I'm very fortunate Mr. Seventies is such a great painter....and awesome at keeping our home and property looking tip top.  He is a do-er...not one to let others do what he is capable of doing....and  he enjoys it.

I am loving the new colour....(Milkweed Pod from Behr).  Mr. Seventies did an excellent job hanging the cabinet.  It's quite heavy...with three shelves inside for storage.  And the doors are soft close.  I don't think knobs or handles are necessary....I love the simplicity of Shaker style.

At first glance I thought the cabinet was hung a bit high...(I wasn't home when it was installed).   But I'm fine with it...and thankfully tall.  (I noticed one shade on the light fixture needed straightening....Mr. Seventies had removed the shades for painting & cleaning)....and I didn't notice one shade needed to be moved upright a bit.....done.

The new hamper arrived...from Amazon - it's a bit smaller than the previous one....which is perfect.....and it sits under the cabinet.  Over the weekend I asked Mr. Seventies to install a twelve inch towel bar on the wall above it....large enough to hold a hand towel or face cloth....

I like the bath caddy...it holds the essentials close by....

I don't have any wall decor....if I run across something I absolutely love....I will pick it up.  The cow canvas that was on the wall over the tub.....no longer fit the colour of the room.  I put it on FB Marketplace and within thirty minutes....it was sold.  Appears I am not the only cow lover in town!

Since we use a gate across the hall....to keep Liesel from having access to the bath and bedrooms (that's another story)....I am able to place my bath mat on the floor.   She has a thing for mats...and needs to not have access to them....

The view facing the shower and door of the bath.....

And there it is!   It's not a huge bath... I don't feel the need to clutter it up with a lot of "things".  It's very easy to maintain and keep clean...I'm very pleased with the results.

Mr. Seventies brought our fall interior fall decor up from the storage room in the basement.  I'm staring at two very large boxes and a couple of totes!   I hope to tackle decorating for fall/Hallowe'en today!

I plan to spend one day this week...checking out Inspired Living and Home Sense...hope you can tag along.

  1. Charlotte, the bathroom reveal is fabulous - hubs is definitely a great painter! I think it looks great just as it is (unless, of course, you do find a fab picture for it). I am so so glad that Lee passed you by without any damage. I was watching his progression from here but it was kind of hard to tell. I hope you have a wonderful week, my friend!

    1. Thank you, Kim. I'm pleased with the bathroom as well. And that Lee spared us...NB and NS took the brunt and received a lot more rain and wind than we did. It was a storm the forecasters had a hard time tracking as well. Hope all is well there!

  3. That looks lovely! I'm the one in our house that spackles and paints but that's as far as my home improvement skills go... thankfully my husband has just about every other skill needed.
