Yesterday morning was beautiful....sunny & warm...we enjoyed a beautiful walk on the trails...but after lunch the weather changed drastically....
We had been enjoying lounging on the deck....when the skies darkened & we felt a few rain drops. We quickly covered the deck furniture, scooted Clancy Mae inside....just before the skies opened up...winds churned & we had hail hitting the windows!!
The rain pounded on the house....I regret not raking a few photos (I preferred to stay inside...dry).......especially during he hail (none had collected & it was fairly small)....some areas of the city lost power (we did not)....and there is video surfacing of a small tornado churning on the eastern end of the Island....more the size of a water spout but it did churn up a few tree limbs....no major damage....
We frequently have "yellow" weather alerts for severe thunderstorm activity....but they seldom materialize before the alert is over....I think the cold water of the Northumberland Strait causes them to dissipate but I'm no expert....
Interesting enough....daughter's home is about a 12 minute drive from us....and they had no rain or thunder or lightening....she was at her office in the city....but no active weather in her community....
I popped into Wal Mart the other day.....where home decor is always a bust....seldom do they carry anything.....I came across these adorable candles....
And a small few pumpkin cushions....foam filled....
I had hopes when our Wal Mart location was renovated we'd be having more home goods & decor....but that is not the business they are in.....groceries are the dominant items that sell....as they seldom carry little else....
I came across this hot dog bun dog costume....for a whopping $35....I purchased it years ago on BOGO at Michaels...I hope to wear it on Clancy May when we attend Wienerpalooza in September if it fits by then.....daughter has all the costumes....so I have a few to choose from....
I stopped by one of my favourite clothing shops.....as they have their fall stock out....a bit of a rant coming...
In previous visits upon entering the shop....an associate would go over their current sales & promotions...even though there are a zillion signs advertising them....and I can read....(to which I would smile sweetly and say "I see that").......
They finally have stopped doing that....instead (I feel guilty for complaining) I had four different associates asking if I was "looking for anything in particular"...(I wasn't)...."could I help you find anything?".....(no....I'm just browsing)....four of them.....in a fairly small shop!!
Everywhere I turned....there was an associate mingling about....I understand they have a job to do...but pestering me shouldn't be one of them .... daughter worked retail all through high school & university....she claims I am an associate's worst nightmare...(I'm not btw).....
The final straw - when I picked up a lovely sweater to compare a medium to a large & as I was folding them up....and associate took them from me & advised I didn't have to do that....it was their job.. not mine.
Apparently I'm not qualified....
Point taken & I headed for the door....I assumed since it was a weekday & not a busy weekend I would be safe to meander about....I was wrong.
Was I being petty? Probably. I headed next door to Global Pet Foods....where one day each month I qualify for a discount!! Only to get back to the SUV & realize I wasn't given it....since the cashier is unable to ask if you qualify! If I've lived long enough to qualify for a discount....by all means...remind me of the discount!!! $6 is as good in my pocket as in theirs....
I quickly realized this was not the day for me to be out in the stores....I headed for home....I had planned to check out Inspired Living & Michaels....but thought better since I was a bit on the irritated side....
Anyone else get like that? Or is it just me....because I do love being in the stores checking everything out....but not this day....
There are a couple of decor pieces at Inspired Living I have my eye on...... overpriced.....but that is why I'm only considering at this point.
You know I'll share if I decide to go for it (them)!
Have an awesome weekend friends!!!
Til next time....
We’ll blame it on the full moon! 🤣 RHill, TX
ReplyDeleteYes!! It was a full moon.....as I had Clancy Mae out during the night...I noticed it! Yup..that's what we'll blame it on!! lol
DeleteQuestion - is the Wienerpalooza an event for dachshunds and their humans or is it a hot dog food fest kind of thing? I'm sure Clancy Mae will look adorable no matter what type of event it is.
ReplyDeleteI like to go shopping on weekday mornings as it is less busy, but I do notice the sales associates are sometimes overly attentive. But then other times if I do have a question it seems like I have trouble finding someone to help me. Can't win... Sue
Wienerpalooza is an event in September for dachshunds and their humans...there will be lots of activities for both....and many photos to share! It's a fundraiser for dachshund rescue....a group I have volunteered with for 25+ years...
DeleteSales staff can be over attentive sometimes and it can get annoying. In their defence, it’s probably part of their training to engage the customer but four associates asking the same question is a little over the top. Glad you survived the storm. I’m hoping for a lovely fall - warm days and cool nights. Enjoy your weekend, Charlotte, with hubby and Clancy Mae. Hugs, Elaine
ReplyDeleteSo True, Elaine.....and I didn't want to appear rude to any of the sales staff....as I'm a faithful customer...and will be in again. Fingers crossed we both have a lovely fall...and we can enjoy the fall colours!! You have an awesome weekend as well....looking forward to forward to hearing from you again soon!! (((hugs)))
