Come Browse With Me

So much beautiful Christmas decor at Home Sense!  After a couple of less than stellar years (for them as well)....stock is over flowing this year!  And shoppers are loving it!  Me included!

So let's take a peek at what is available...I'm loving the navy pieces I'm seeing this year...

Adorable gnomes....everywhere...

Look at the size of this guy!  I saw him shortly after....in a cart heading for checkout!  Some lucky person purchased him...

A couple of garlands...check out these adorable rustic bells!

This Santa hat mantle garland is gorgeous!  And longer than the typical six foot standard...would look amazing on a large mantle...

No visit would be complete without checking out the holiday cushions!  This one is my favourite...if it's still there my next visit....it's coming home with me....I hope to set it on our bed....for a touch of Christmas...

And this one has such a vintage feel to it!  So pretty...

A few great pieces in the dining & glass ware section....lots of Rae Dunn goodies...the gingerbread are my favourite....

Of course a few holiday dachshund mugs to choose from as well....

Crushing hard on this adorable platter...or sweet tray....

Beautiful dinnerware for your holiday table...great selection of plates, bowls and platters...

And this wooden piece....great for holding holiday nuts....or a bowl of ornaments....

I couldn't resist shaking this adorable snow globes...there is a huge selection of them...this one is musical...I didn't think they would appreciate me winding them all up....

And this gingerbread display is so gorgeous!  I had to check it out for a few minutes....jaw dropping...

There was so much more to see....but as I mentioned before in a previous post...it's a bit overwhelming after having such minimal pieces available the past couple of years.

Remember these pieces from a previous post?  I did end up picking up the stockings...and two hangers...

Even if there are simply for decor pieces....they will look awesome hung on the brick mantle....

Today, I'm on the hunt for a garland to place across the mantle.  And what I'm thinking is not your typical green garland....but something a little more outside the box...stay tuned.

And the craft fairs are back in full swing!  Daughter and I attended one....she picked up a couple of items. We will take in a couple more in the coming weeks.

I picked up two sets of clear white outdoor lights for the Japanese Yew tree  (it survived Fiona)...last year we finally tossed the decades old ones...replacement bulbs were almost impossible to find.  These are LED soft white...in sets of 100 bulbs...should be plenty for our tree...

We will wait a couple of weeks before we decorate outside...although we're seeing many homes fully decorated....and a few Christmas trees up inside!

Thanks so much for browsing around with me today!  Be sure and check out Between Naps on the Porch for  Metamorphosis Monday.

And check out A Stroll Thru Life on Tuesday for Inspire Me Tuesday!!

Refrigerator Ordered

You know what they say about the best laid plans!  I had done my home work...looking for the right size, options available...and wanted or didn't want....and had my choices all picked out!

All that went out the window when I got into the stores and saw the selections!  Who knew there were so many choices....styles....colours and features in a refrigerator?  Something happened that seldom does...almost never....I got over whelmed.  I'm usually very decisive when it comes to my choices.

What I thought I wanted...and what I decided on...totally different!  I was in the final store for an hour and a half...until I finally made a decision!  After calling both Mr. Seventies and daughter for back-up!!   That is just so not me.  But in the end....I'm excited...(as anyone can get with an appliance)....this is the one I chose!

The brand is LG...and she (for some reason she is a she...) is smudge proof black stainless steel!  With a pull out bottom freezer!  (one model has a bottom freezer door that swung open...)

I was clear a water dispenser or ice maker was neither wanted or needed.  Some models will make ice in the freezer...but to me that spells trouble or malfunction down the road.  As long as it freezes...we're good.

And swoon.....those double doors!  And handles!!  (current refrigerator has no handles)....

The specifications are 30 in width...22 cubic feet...and did I mention smudge resistant?   One interesting thing noted...unless you are having cabinets built deep enough to align with your appliances....namely refrigerators...they will stick out further than most cabinets.  Our current one does...and that is just the way it is...so be it.

Arrival & delivery date is scheduled for December 10, 2022 and for a $20...they will haul your old one away!  Yes please!  I'm not having Mr. Seventies and a buddy wrangle anything out the back entrance...that can be left to the delivery guys who do this many times on a daily basis!  And have all the proper equipment and furniture blankets to do so.

Oh...and another post tropical storm is set to land on the weekend!  High winds and lots of rain!  Nicole is this gal's name...fingers crossed she pales in comparison to Fiona!  The province and electric utility are busy preparing...removing trees away from lines that could be a problem.   We fully expect to lose our power again...but hopeful it will not be a repeat of eleven days like last time! Mr. Seventies still has one tree left to bring down....

Fully stocked with candles & batteries...will pick up sandwich and subs...and the propane tank for the barbecue is full.

Off to batten down the hatches!!

Refrigerator Shopping

You know that old saying, "Be careful what you wish for".... in this case I've been wishing for a new refrigerator!  Our current one...is 20+ years old!  It is the only appliance in our kitchen that has not been replaced in those years.  They just don't make them to last like they used to!

Unless you are our refrigerator!  I've been waiting for it to show signs of it's demise....and that time has come.  The freezer is no longer doing its job!   I had a conversation....not one week ago....with Mr. Seventies about replacing it....before it gave out on us.  The days of walking into an appliance store, picking out what you need and having it delivered in a day or so are long gone.  Everything now....has to be ordered...and there is a wait time!  But he didn't seem to think it a priority.

Well....now it is.  (Daughter purchased five new appliances about two weeks ago for her kitchen...and they are tentatively scheduled for delivery just before Christmas.   She is pro-active...smart girl we've raised.)

Today, will be a shopping excursion....I have an idea of what I'm looking for in a refrigerator.  Definately smudge-proof...bottom freezer.  Uncertain of French doors on top...or single door.  The model will depend on the size...as my opening is 66" high x 32"wide x 24" deep.   Most refrigerators have a depth greater than 24"...so I expect the new one to be the same....as the current one is.  And that doesn't concern me.  Also...I want handles....unlike what we have now.

This is one model that may be in the running.  The bottom freezer is door opening...as opposed to a drawer that pulls out...

There are many options available...at varying prices.  In the meantime...we may send our current freezer contents to our neighbour's.

I've checked a number of local websites...and have a plan to visit a few that may have what I'm looking for!

Cooler & windy here today....I'd say November has finally shown up!!  Have an awesome day!!

Fall Decor Packed Up & Put Away

Everything fall and/or Hallowe'en related has been safely wrapped and packed away for another year!  Two totes and a huge box were required....it appears I have collected a few pieces!

I must share an incident that occurred with a heavy wooden window frame (minus the glass) that hung to the left of the fireplace.  It came crashing down...and caused a bit of damage to the wall!  Huge gouges...and it was hung securely...or so we thought.  Repair wouldn't be a huge task....matching the paint on the other hand was an issue....as we had none left over....and could not find the paint chip anywhere in the house!  Every room colour accounted for.....except the family room!

I knew the brand of paint...and where we purchased it...so I took a good size scraping of paint off the wall...slid the piece into an envelope....and headed to the paint store!  It was not a problem to match it perfectly with the machine & technique they use....and within fifteen minutes I was headed home with a small can (sadly they don't sell sample sizes....but that's okay).   Once Mr. Seventies patched & sanded the damage...he rolled on two coats of fresh paint....and you would never know there had been a mishap.  And the wooden window frame...is in the fire pit wood pile!

The weather has been unseasonably warm here....and clean up on the property is almost complete.  One tree left to be taken down...flower beds and vegetable garden are cleaned out & ready for winter...leaves have been raked.....(compost for the gardens).

And the curtain panels arrived!  The fabric is gorgeous....exceeded my expectations!!

Mr. Seventies is a pro at installing them!  And I love my go-to curtain rod!!

Even prettier when the afternoon sun comes around....I'm loving this little room!

Daughter has requested new curtains for Christmas for her family room!  She didn't want a pattern...I think she will be very happy with the fabric I have chosen.  She doesn't want to see or install them until after she opens them at Christmas.  These panels are a linen/cotton blend...thick, durable, soft and semi-black-out.  The fabric allows light through without being able to see through.  She has thinner slat blinds on all the windows in her home....these will look beautiful when hung....

And I've ordered the required width and length to be hung properly!  Nothing drive me crazier than panels or draperies hung too short or that are not the right width!

That and toilet seat covers not being put down....but that is an issue for another day...lol!!  A little OCD perhaps....

When will curtain manufacturers realize 63" and 84" panel lengths are from the dark ages!!  No one has those size windows any more! If they ever did.  Thankfully, customization is available.

Mr. Seventies celebrated his birthday over the weekend!  He requested a cheesecake...and our awesome son-in-law was only too happy to accommodate...and whipped up a chocolate chip cheesecake masterpiece!  It was warm enough to enjoy a bar-be-que beforehand...and Mr. Seventies was very appreciative of the gifts and cards he received as well.

Today a municipal election for mayor and city counsellors is being held...we will do our civic duty & vote this morning.  I plan to do a bit more Christmas shopping this week...and we have an out of province travel planned for later in the month....

Join me at Between Naps on the Porch for  Metamorphosis Monday and again on Tuesday for Inspire Me Tuesday at A Stroll Thru Life.  I love reading everyone's blogs that are shared on these pages...I know you will too!!

Thanks so much for sharing a bit of your day with me!  Until next time....

Christmas Explosion In The Stores

Ever since Covid arrived.... stock in our stores has been very limited.  I think the drought is over!

It's almost overwhelming to browse the Christmas decor in the stores now!  Almost.  It is wonderful to see stocked shelves.....while out doing some early Christmas shopping the other day....I dropped into Winners!   And I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of decor there as well!!  We don't use stockings....prefer Santa themed canvas bags for stocking stuffers....but I'm obsessed with these ones!!  They may end up coming home with me yet!

I came across holders too that are right up my alley!  They are a bit on the pricey side at $24.99 for two...but luv them!!

This metal church is beautiful!  And I love the tree beside it as well!!  I'm trying really hard to refrain from purchasing a lot of Christmas decor....

And these stocking holders are beautiful!!  A bit cheaper than the first set...at $19.99 for a set of two...

Although not Christmas related....a very cute novelty gift.  This can somehow be heated...not sure how since it does have plastic eyes and nose.   Maybe there is velcro on the back that opens to allow a warming bag inside?  I didn't take the time to investigate...but it's adorable....

Liesel was in need of a mat for underneath her water bowl....and this one is the perfect size!  If a place mat or towel is used...she will attempt to "bury" her bowl.  Making a wet mess...not to mention emptying out her water!  No attempt to do that with this mat....so will see how it works out....

The weather has been amazing....but cool.  I love these Ugg boots for wearing in dry, colder temps!  I purchased a set in a light brown colour last year....and just ordered an identical pair in red!!  These are so toasty warm and comfortable for zipping out and about!!  They are lightweight and so easy to pull on...and work perfectly this time of year!

The curtain panels for the small bedroom, according to tracking will be arriving today or tomorrow!  Mr. Seventies will get to installing them this weekend!

I plan to do a bit more Christmas shopping today....weekends I try to stay away from the crowded stores.  Much more relaxing during the week!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!  Have an awesome weekend!

Happy Halloween!!!

The weather is going to be perfect this evening for trick or treaters!!  We plan to hand out treats at our daughters...as they usually have 200+ little ghosts & goblins visit!   Over the years....we seldom have many come to our door...living on such a busy road.  This way we get to enjoy seeing all the little ones in their costumes.....and hang out with our favourite little "unicorn" too!!

We took a drive around the city to see just a few of the many homes decorated for Halloween!

There were so many homes we didn't get a chance to see....many folks had the same idea....it was difficult to pull over & get photos....

I remember this one too....from last year!  It is unbelievable the amount of work they put into their Halloween decor!!

This year they added Mr. & Mrs. Bones...welcoming everyone to stop by!!

Some homes are located in "Olde Charlottetown"....where the streets are very narrow.   The best way to see everything is to park your vehicle.....and walk about!

That is just a small view of the many homes that are decked out!  There are a couple of lawns that are covered in inflatables...I hope to see them tonight!!

We celebrated a lovely, but quiet anniversary!  Mr. Seventies is enjoying his iPad...and he gifted me with these gorgeous roses and a generous Amazon card.  The man knows me well!

Clean up on our property from Fiona is just about finished...there is still one tree to be taken down...and a few very large stumps that will have to stay for now.  Our neighbour, across the road has a wood stove...they have been picking up truck loads from our trees.  So far, we guesstimate they've gotten 4-5 cords of wood...just from our property alone.  And they had a number of trees come down as well...so they will have wood for a few years to come.   We've had people come to the door and ask to take the wood...but we've had to tell them it's spoken for....

Mr. Seventies power washed our three walk ways...what a difference a good cleaning has made!  Slowly things are getting back to normal....this week we will pack away our Halloween decor!   Lots of craft fairs around for the month on November!  Join me at Between Naps on the Porch today for  Metamorphosis Monday .

I'll also be hanging out over at A Stroll Thru Life tomorrow for Inspire Me Tuesday!!  Come meet some amazing bloggers & see what everyone has been up to!!

Have a spooktacular Halloween!!!

Kitchen Shutters Installed

The shutters were installed this week...and I couldn't be happier!  I absolutely love them!

I don't know why we didn't have them done sooner!  Once we removed the roman shades...I wasn't sure what to replace them with.  Since we have shutters on all the windows....it made sense to have them in the kitchen too....

As well, the curtain panels for the small bedroom are due to arrive next week!  I'm looking forward to getting those hung!

Tomorrow we celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary!!  Seems impossible to believe the years have slipped away....so young back then!  Full of love and dedication that holds strong today.  The half that makes me whole....

Wishing everyone an awesome weekend!!

Monday Catch Up

October is winding down...one of my favourite months!  A few family birthdays... Mr. Seventies & I will celebrate our Anniversary soon!  I struggled what to gift him...he has very few wants...but have managed to bring him into the 21st century.....he will be receiving his first iPad.  He has a relic of a tablet...time to upgrade.  Fingers crossed he will like his new one!

So much Christmas awesomeness in the stores right now...and I'm a huge fan!!  Add doxies into the mix...and my head may explode!  Santa doxie pillowcases!!

And for the avid doxie junkie...shower curtain...and bath mat...

There must be a few low rider lovers here...as they were flying off the shelves!  I didn't purchase any as our showers have glass doors...bath mats are not something we can keep on the floor...and I've many sets of pillowcases.  But there was a time I would have purchased them all...whether I could use them or not.  I have matured...I guess.

There were a few pieces at Home Sense I do love though...who doesn't love a donut tree?

And an adorable gingerbread house in a cloche.  My problem is I don't remember what I already have...

Now I don't know why I'm crushing on this adorable tree ornament.  It's not a dachshund...but still absolutely adorable....

Now this little cotton candy ornament would fit in with our tree decorations...but I know I just don't have room for any more on our tree....it's hard to resist though.  I may just have to stay out of the stores!!  (like that is going to happen...)

In other news....we were happy to have the guys arrive and saw off the part of a tree that was close to the power lines!   After Fiona...there was a form to submit online to request assistance with tree removal or branch removal...

This small crew is from Ontario....here to assist in the clean up.  Great guys...doing an incredible job helping!

Mr. Seventies has the black walnut chargers sanded...and now they are drying...as fresh cut wood is very wet.  Once that has completed....he will coat them with sealant.

I spent a morning helping daughter pick new Frigidaire stainless appliances for their kitchen.  Everything needs to be upgraded from their current builder grade models.  They are going to be gorgeous with tentative arrival date about mid December.

Mr. Seventies and I took in a junior college football game over the weekend (son-in-law is a referee)...daughter & grand daughter joined us!  It cooled down quickly once the sun set...glad we were bundled up & brought a thick throw to sit on the steel benches!  Ended the evening with a treat and hot chocolate!

One month after the storm...and clean up continues.  Mr. Seventies continuing to get fall yard work done...along with removing trees & stumps...weeks of work yet left to do...

Thanks so much for hanging out with me today...will be heading over to Between Naps on the Porch later for  Metamorphosis Monday .

Tuesday hope to see you on Marty's blog A Stroll Thru Life for Inspire Me Tuesday!!
