Tropical Storm Dorian

We are bracing for the remnants of Hurricane Dorian...expected to impact us Saturday thru to Sunday.  By the time it reaches us it will be downgraded to a tropical storm.  Winds 80-90 km/hr and 60-70 millimetres of rain.  It's nothing we haven't withstood before...however with our trees still covered in leaves...that makes for the likelihood of downed trees....on power lines.  And that means power outages.  We will charge our phones, tablet and laptop beforehand  I purchased a little battery operated radio ta few months ago to keep updated....and we have food items for sandwiches and snacks.

In other news....remember in May when our driveway was damaged by the delivery truck?  Just to refresh your memory....

This is what it looks like a few days ago...

Looking worse than ever....and neither the driveway or the lawn have been repaired....

This mess was caused by an inexperience truck driver delivering the roof shingles.  After four attempts and cracking the pavement and tearing up the lawn...he finally was able to drop the shingles.

This damage has left us furious...we were assured everything would be repaired.  And it has not.  I finally decided we had been patient enough.  I contacted the roofing company and advised him this was not our problem to fix....but his.  He sub-contracted the building supply company to deliver the shingles...not us.  Therefore...he should have been on top of the situation.  Either he should have taken care of getting the repairs done...then claimed the expenses with Metro Building Supplies...and not expect us to deal with Metro.  But that is what he did.  Yesterday I went to Metro...the president of the company was not in...but he did call me in the afternoon.  (Mr. Seventies had spoke to him once in May...and left two voicemails in the following weeks and his calls were not returned).  Paul, with Metro "assumed" the paving company had done the repairs (yeah, right)...he spoke to them before calling me and was informed the repairs had not been done. I let him know the repairs did not end with the driveway....the lawn the was torn up while the truck driver spun his wheels, and expected it to be repaired as well.

Within fifteen minutes of our conversation a rep with the paving company came and assessed the damage.  To do the repair....they will cut out 12 or so feet and repave the area that was damaged.  Then...apparently Spruce Grove Landscaping is taking care of the lawn.  We shall see how this all plays out.  It's getting late in the season...the asphalt plant will be closing soon for the winter...so the repair needs to be done sooner rather than later.

And now on to my handbag repair....imagine how shocked I was to see this large hole....and no idea how it occurred!  That is significant damage...

The artisan picked up my handbag over the weekend to do the repairs....due to the nature of the damage she thought perhaps it was chewed or caught on something and ripped.  I can say with 100% certainty it wasn't chewed...so I must have caught it and tugged at it (although I have no clue how or when this would have happened).

The good news is the bag has been repaired....but had to be made it a bit smaller...which is fine by me.    It looks to be the same size I purchased for our daughter for Christmas last year.  The bag will be dropped it off the next time she is down our way (she lives about an hour and a half west of us).  I'm sure, at some point, I will have another one of her beautiful bags.
Happy ending.

I want to share this cute new lamp listed on Marketplace...perfect spot for a corner of the family room.  The truck with pumpkins is a Scentsy burner...I have two burning, this one and another in the kitchen.  Warm Apple Cobbler scent is delicious to smell!!

If Dorian is making an impact on your weather...batten down the hatches!  Stay dry!
