Exterior Happenings

Mr. Seventies and I spent a couple of days puttering outside....removing shutters and flower boxes!  Along with our exterior doors...they are in much need of a couple of coats of paint...

We placed everything in the storage shed...which is where Mr. Seventies has set up a painting table.  The shutters are looking a bit worse for wear...and needed a good cleaning along with any peeling paint lightly sanded & removed.  These are metal shutters...and original to the house!  Circa 1973...

The flower box brackets were pretty rusty....as were the house numbers...so they are being replaced...the screws were so rusty.. a couple broke while being removed...

For the shutters...I chose Behr Tender Forest Sage and doors & flower boxes in Behr Vintage Teal.  I also picked up new house numbers and flower box brackets...

The front step requires a re-fresh as well...we already have the stain for that...

Once the shutters & boxes were removed....we took out the window screens...(and cleaned them my hand)....we purchased a pressure washer to give the exterior a thorough cleaning.  The last price quote I received for a company to clean the exterior was over $400...and that was a few years ago.  While they do a great job...there is no way we'd pay that.  I'm certain the cost has likely gone up since then...

Mr. Seventies did an amazing job cleaning the siding...we live on such a busy road...road dirt along with high winds a great deal of the time...the exterior get's very dirty & dusty....not to mention pollen in the spring.

We've had a real cool down in temperatures, winds, overcast & rain the last few days.  Today and the next few are looking more seasonal...we hope to paint in the storage shed this afternoon.  At least get one coat on everything.

The peony shrubs have blossomed...and they did not disappoint this year....the yellow with the orange centres were stunning....

The pink is one of my favourite....

The coral peony and a gorgeous double coloured one we purchased at the greenhouse this year....won't show any bloom until next year...

We had an enjoyable evening celebrating the one year anniversary of grand baby's heart surgery...she is ever so close to walking!  Her favourite "assist" is a laundry basket...she pushes about the house!  Of course...along with toddling around...there have been a couple of bumps and tumbles along the way.  Any day now...she will be off & running!

Today looks to be a busy one...looking forward to getting the painting done.  If the weather co-operates we should be able to have everything done & back in place by mid week.

Hope you have an awesome day where you are.  Thank you for stopping by!
