Gone to the Dogs

I want to take a few minutes and introduce our four legged family member...Liesel.  She is not our first dachshund...or our second...but rather our fourth...following on the paw prints of her predecessors who have long since gone to the Bridge. (Rainbow Bridge...the equivalent of heaven..but for pets).

Having been a rescue volunteer for a number of years with this breed...you tend to collect the ones that either no one else wants or they worm their way into your heart permanently.  Schatzi, Oskar and Xena were such dogs...our official "Rat Pack".   All rescues from previous pasts and never far from our hearts and minds.

My goal in bringing Liesel into our lives was to have another wire hair (Xena was our first wire). Wire hairs have such a different personality from the smooth or long hair dachshunds...much more clownish and terrier characteristics.

So without further adieu....(she looks so serious...not loving her pink bow).

She is a Wild Boar wire hair...with silver highlights (no..those are not gray hairs)... loveable.  Car rides (in her car seat as seen in the photo) and going for walks are her favourite past times!

And sleeping.  A good nap in the puddles of sun is high on her list of priorities as well.

This handsome smooth black and tan fellow on the left is our grand dog, Benson.  He & Liesel are great play buddies...he is currently four years old and Liesel is three.

You will see them quite a bit on the blog...as they are a huge part of our lives.

Waiting for good weather to ask Mr. Seventies to hang our latest acquisition at the front door....it pretty much says it all.
