A Brand New Month

The warm weather continues...and here we are into August already!  It's one of my favourite months though...as a number of the veggies in the garden are ready!  There is nothing as delicious as enjoying fresh produce that was growing earlier in the day!  We should have a great corn crop with all the heat we've been getting!

Mr. Seventies new butterfly house!  We've been watching a host of butterflies enjoying the flowers....and decided to put up a butterfly house for them.  You can place fruit inside to attract them...but I'd fear it would attract other less wanted visitors....mice, squirrels and ants.  So we shall just have it as a safety haven....

You can see how the corn is maturing!  The purple flowers are Liatris (Blazing Star)....and the butterflies are very much attracted to it!  We also have a few white ones growing as well....

And the lilies are blooming!!  A couple of my favourite colours...

So pretty....I don't bring in bouquets anymore as they are usually full of small flies...and I don't want them indoors!!

The front lawns resemble a mighty jungle!  There aren't too many days that we don't have walkers admiring the flowers and shrubs...and Mr. Seventies will talk gardening with them until their eyes glaze over!

It's only taken 15 years for this hydrangea to bloom!!  15 years!  And we finally get one blossom...but it is so sweet looking....and pretty.  Hopefully there will be more to come....

Sometimes we think something will never flower....or has died...and the next thing we know...it begins to bloom!  And usually by that time we've forgotten it was there...or where it came from....

I have loved and worm my current Sketchers sandals so much....I ordered a second pair in the chocolate brown colour.  These are the most comfortable, slide on sandal I've ever owned....

Liesel has been having a bit of an arthritis flare up we suspect.  The last couple of days she's had little appetite...and not keen on early morning walks.  Add in a couple of yelps when being picked up...and we're administering her pain medication & keeping her on the down low for a few days....

Forecast predicting another warm week...we've had a shower or two during the overnight...which has been much needed...

Join me later today over at Between Naps on the Porch where I'll be sharing on  Metamorphosis Monday.  And then on Tuesday with Marty at A Stroll Thru Life with Inspire me Tuesday.  I truly enjoy reading all the guest blog posts....you may as well!

Have an awesome day & so many thanks for sharing a bit of your day with us!

  1. Nice post! You are a patient person since you have waiting 15 years for your hydrangea to bloom. I just watched a reel on Instagram and the lady was saying it is time to feed your hydrangea, so I plan to do that today.

  2. Charlotte, it sounds like you've had a lovely week filled with sun and hot temps, and your gardens are clearly loving it. Love the butterfly house - I had never heard of them before! I hope Liesel feels better soon. Happy August to you!

  3. Hi Kim! Always awesome to hear from you! It's been hot..with the odd shower overnight. We are enjoying the butterflies...so glad you love it too! Liesel is doing better today...the pain medications do work...and she is able to get some rest. Can you believe it's August already? All the best....til next time!!
