We enjoyed a couple of days touring the western part of our Island! When we first moved here we spent our winter months living there...absolutely amazing community and people! Liesel was all ready for her mini "staycation"....
Before enjoying a delicious lunch on the waterfront in Summerside, while she and Mr. Seventies strolled the boardwalk.....I spent a few minutes checking out the local antique/junk shop. One of the first items I came across was this plate....which matches the antique tea set I currently have. This piece is unmarked as well....
I love this Mason's blue vista serving plate....
There was even a few pieces of the pattern of Mason's Pink Vista I have....(I already have a full set of eight of these size plates)....
We received an invitation to attend an Open House...at the North Cape Wind Test site. During his career, Mr. Seventies was involved in wind energy....there is nothing as majestic as watching these turbines ....producing electricity. At this location there are sixteen turbines, which is also a tourist destination for many who visit Prince Edward Island. There is a restaurant here....which overlooks the ocean...but sadly this year....due to staff shortages...it was unable to open...
While in the area....we just had to check out the very first house we lived in when we moved here!! It was a rental...and the stories I could share about this place!! At the time...it was painted yellow...and that one dormer on the top....was to one large bedroom...with the chimney in the room!! It was always toasty warm up there! I was not sad to leave this community....which consisted of a local post office (still there) and one small grocery store (now gone). The people and friends we made during the short eight months we lived there....were amazing!! Most too...have moved on....but the memories we share still remain....
The Open House lasted a couple of hours....Mr. Seventies had the opportunity to catch up with former colleagues and friends...before we headed to the beautiful hotel & resort in Mill River...where we had accommodations booked....we visited friends in Northport who moved from Charlottetown after retirement to their origins in western PEI...and built a beautiful home on the water. It was wonderful to catch up...and we assured them we would return when we had more time!
The resort has a beautiful golf course, tennis & volleyball courts, amazing grounds and an abundance of beautiful flowers....and the road in is beautiful....
The resort upon our arrival....a very busy spot....especially during peak tourist season. There is even a Mill River community where you can purchase a beautiful home and reside there year round....
Liesel gave our room four paws up!! She was on her very best behaviour...and enjoyed the attention of the resort staff and other guests....
In the evening, we attended a reception...followed by a delicious bar-be-cue...with salads, burgers, sausages....and a host of sweets! And...an ever popular open liquor bar!
The next morning....we enjoyed a breakfast....drive thru style. Even though there was a beautiful restaurant at the resort...we had left Liesel to attend the events long enough...so we chose to forgo the restaurant and pick up coffee and muffins for the drive home!
On our travels....we stopped to pick up a couple of outdoor pieces from a local artisan! Dragon flies...the green one for us...and the mustard colour one for my friend...(who is obsessed with dragonflies)...
So, that is what we have been up to the past few days! Have a crew coming this weekend...looking forward to seeing daughter & grand daughters from Nova Scotia for a pool day & visit!! As well as daughter & family here...it will be wonderful to have us together...even if only for the day!!
Forecast is calling for hot temperatures to continue right into the weekend! Today will be spent hanging out on the deck with Mr. Seventies....and a few dips in the pool!
Have an awesome day friends!!!
