We've had previous experience in this issue...all three of our previous dachshunds had back issues...two required emergency surgery. Miss Daisy is home recovering beautifully, her little eyes are also being treated for an infection, She is able to stand, walk a few steps and go outside when needed. She is on the right path for a full recovery. She is such a sweet girl!
And Diesel is her brother...he was curious where his sister was for a few days...and happy to have her home, even if she was getting "special" attention. We placed a soft dog bed so he could enjoy the sun, but he preferred the mat!
It took some getting used to all the snorts..(and boy do they snort) and what they mean...but we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them!
We took an afternoon and visited Parliament House...we weren't able to go in...as a tour would need to be booked, but there were half a dozen tours going on at the same time! I was happy just to marvel at the architecture.....
Mr. Seventies and my nephew in front of the eternal flame. I didn't realize at the time they were blocking it..there are flames in the centre of a waterfall. You'll have to take my word it was beautiful to see. Also, there were so many people huddled around it ....I was lucky to get a break in the crowd to get this photo....
This building, to the left was the Parliamenty Libary....
This amazing sculpture was in the downtown area...which is not only beautiful...but very clean...no litter, graffiti or anything like that...
Photo of us in front of Parliament,..
The entrance...lots of wrought iron fencing and lamp posts.
The Ottawa river has over flowed and many homes and properties were under water. We drove along and could see the devastation, but were unable to stop and get photos. It was hard to see beautiful places engulfed by water...heartbreaking really. I was okay with not taking photos..
We came across many street vendors as we walked along...we stopped to have a delicious hot dog & soda...(we were on vacay after all).
I loved Ottawa and cannot wait to have a return visit. I would like to take a couple of days and drive. Flying is quicker...but you are limited to what you can bring home.
As we were waiting to check in at the airport here...a young gal asked if we were going to Ottawa and if so, could we take one of cats on board with us. She had two cats, in crates...but was allowed only to take one...unless she purchase another seat! We gladly took her kitty on board...she and her kennel fit under the seat in front of Mr Seventies.
There were some items that we were unable to take on board (shampoo, conditioner were over the 100 ml limit). At first Air Canada refused to put it in our luggage that was going on the plane...unless we paid $50! Ahh...no. But then the representative asked if we were the couple helping the girl with the cats. And waived the $50 fee and took the small cosmetic bag no charge! One good deed deserved another!
My nephew's wife and I spent a day shopping and went out for lunch...which we both enjoyed! My purchases were limited...but it was a fun day!
We also enjoyed an evening of dining and my nephew Matt, who lives in Kanata, joined us. It was great to see him and catch up on all his news.
Oh...and did I mention....Allison, my nephew's wife, is an amazing decorator! Their home is beautiful....I'll post pics another time!
Sun is out...Mr. Seventies is able to get a lot of outside work done and I'm putting a lasagna together for supper!
